Again, really like this guy. I have watched TSOutdoors, which I really like, and Joe Robinet, not so fond of, and find this so much more "bushcraft". For the most part, only using what nature provides. I am part Native American and appreciate that to the extent!

I've got 2 criticisms, but I don't want to be " that guy ". I really do like the start of this shelter. Ok, 1st, sharpen that hatchet and it'll work better. 2nd, as someone else mentioned, square knots instead of those granny knots you tied. Ok, here's what I liked. The roof system was very nice. Using large slabs of bark, to make the troughs and ridges looked good. Then using the rolled sod made quick work to cover it and blend it with nature. As far as the tree huggers that say you're making to much of a "footprint", ignore them. Left alone, you won't see much more than the way it looked when you first walked up to it in a year or two. So, overall, I like it. Great job young man.

A unique and interesting design, with the trench between the bed and earthen fire pit/reflector. It was difficult to understand what you had in mind until near the end, which kept me watching! I’d be interested to see how this would do in the depths of winter. Well done.

Pretty nice! Didnt look through all the comments, but I saw some criticism already thrown in about the knots, dull hatchet, and such. Besides that, the only thing I have to add is to drop that roof down a little, you dont need to stand straight up inside. Heavy wind and/or rain will make quick work of the effectiveness of the roof if it is too high up. Closer to the ground will increase effectiveness and durability. Other than that, looks great. Definitely subscribing.

Some excellent ideas! Especially if you intend to live there or visit frequently. Just a suggestion: learn to do a reef knot as opposed to granny knots, they lie flatter and hold better.

Great vid. Music was ideal, I thought. Perhaps more fall on your roof though. What you have isn't enough to shed rain well. All the best.

Well designed shelter, the only concern I would have is possible rain. That low dip would collect water too easily and mud in the shelter just doesn't work. Using the bark and sod is brilliant. The grass sod will replenish itself fast and you gathered the bark from dead trees so it's ecological and effective, well done. I would suggest square knots or a jam knot instead of granny knots. My personal preference is for thinner branches on the bed, so there's a little give in it. Makes it more comfortable in my opinion. I agree with Robert Mc about how soft your soil is. It doesn't dig that easily here in Georgia.
