Today I will be showing you how to find and process za'atar (Syrian oregano), a popular herb in Mediterranean cuisine.

And, bags that would look somewhat suspicious if one were to be in contact with an officer of the law. But, would be surprisingly handy if one came across a slice of pizza that was in need of rapid disposal. LOL

So, sitting here thinking the finished product looks like oregano, search it, and bam, it's from the oregano family. Now, if we can whip up some pasta and some tomato sauce, I'll be right over!!!

I've never actually had za'atar with pasta before. Kind of curious to try it now.

Well, oregano is pretty common in Italian red sauces, so that may be where my connection is coming from.

Ray True za'atar is significantly different from regular oregano mainly because it has a really strong taste while oregano itself has a more mild flavor/smell.

Ray Origanum Syriacum is related to Sweet Marjoram.

How long did it take for you to process the za'atar?

Philip Wilkinson I think it was between ten and fifteen minutes. Would have taken much less time if I had the correct tools for the job.
