When you do those twine un-wind thing. You can dip half of it into melted parafin wax and then put it in a bag. That way it's a super easy firestarter and the wax will maintain the burn.
Dan, also for the spool, I keep a hair tie loop (o-ring style) around that I then use a lark's head knot to bind onto the hair tie, and stretch the hair tie around the spool - keeping things snug and secure.
I’m not sure it would work for everyone. I like to carry waxed dental floss to use for emergency repairs. It’s strong, water repellent and is dual use.
Thanks for the tips. Never got the idea of untwisting jute as I always used to simply scratch it fluffy with the back of my knife. I found having a bunch of fluffs only gives kind of a puff and the flame is over after igniting it with a ferrorod but keeping some part of the twine still a bit twisted (and maybe even dunk in vaseline or so) and fluffing off only the other end makes the flame keeping a bit longer.
My grandmother taught me this method when I was a child and she was teaching me how to separate embroidery thread! It works with any twisted three or four strand cordage.
Eyeballs worth 😂 I laughed so frigging hard at that 🤣 . Great tip for processing down bankline for sure going to be using that tip indeed. I learned the processing jute twine method from you, and it's a game changer indeed, that stuff knots up so fast, but your method works so much faster. Thank you for that and thank you for all you do bro. Another awesome video as always brother 💪 👍
If I’m carrying something to sew with, I’ve found waxed dental floss to be nice. Heavy duty version would be waxed dental tape. I think you could tow a car with the tape? A big, plastic container of floss has a small reel of floss inside. A hundred yards of it. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
