@@EFFICIENTSELF well my 180 turned up yesterday and I fitted it today and watched your video for hint and tips for set up and pack up and sadly your video DID NOT help at all as they have totally changed to 180 design, you have to close the awning by pushing the right hand side first and the left side closes up last :-) 😀 😃
I reckon a couple of things (if possible).... 1. A mechanism that can lower your bushwakka down while it's being set up (taken down) then raised and locked into place...... 2. I saw some poles with rectangular feet (about 1x2inches) with 2 holes in them for pegs. It just mean one or two tent pegs could hold the poles in place for most situations - without the guy ropes to trip over! - (but those could quickly be added if the winds got up too high)..... Thank you great vid!
Looks like a great bit of kit there Dino mate. Few little mods and she will sweet as. I gotta get me some of those ratchet tensioner straps for my caravan I reckon. Mutha ks for showing us mate.
Great bit of kit Dino. When it was first opened up and you were recording from near the front of the van the aw ing didn’t long that night but when you did a side shot it looked massive which is perfect. Awesome protection from the elements mate. Hope you get heaps of use out of it Dino. Thanks for another great video mate
@@EFFICIENTSELF Awesome Dino. It’s only got to please one person right. Well technically two you and the Mrs. all is well here mate bring on the backyard camping
Looks great Dino love the brand name lol. Them ratchet strap are an awesome idea. Looking forward to the long term review and seeing if water pooling is a major issue. Cheers mate!
Good honest review mate, I like the alloy hinge brackets at the end. My rhino is plastic and it’s a weak point for sure I made the mistake on a short trip last week of throwing my awning cover over the solar panels…. Lost a couple hours charge, won’t do that again ! Cheers mate keep em comin 🍻
At 8:12 van looks low to the ground. That said, Your turning that van into a great camping rig my friend. Its very a roof on that awning not sure how it will go when it's pissing rain. Will be interesting to see that in a latter video. I still tell people to just buy a genuine ostrich wing awning and be done with it.
Thanks mate the Toyota hiace has been a fantastic van and been very reliable. I use it as my daily driver to work. I can’t believe it’s nearly been a year since I bought it. Hope you and sigi have been well 👍🍻
@@EFFICIENTSELF Yes we are great in WA. Built the new PC so i am ready for lockdown when it comes to WA. Been a year since you got that van. WOW time is flying by for sure mate. The Van is great for you as you don't go the places we go, So you don't need really high ground clearance. You did nice work building it out for sure. Love it. 🍻👍
I got them from eBay I just searched Toyota hiace slwb 2007 and I got mine for around $270 from memory. Just a heads up the awning is extremely high and to pack the awning has been getting hard I mainly stand on a milk crate now and makes it easier. I strongly recommend to go a fiamma type of awning that you can roll out especially if you are short person . If you also go rollout you will not require the roof bars . Just in case you are not aware of this . Hey the awning has been great . Happy vanning .Hope this helps and thanks for watching 👍🍻
Looking to get a Bushwakka. Just wondering how far it comes out to the side? It doesn't look like it provides a lot of shelter. Thanks for the vid Cheers Mick
Approx 6 metres total length and 2 metres out from the van at the points where the poles are … it’s approx 8square metres total area of the awning. Hope this helps cheers 👍🍻
Hey mate. Looks good. Thinking of getting one too. Where did you get the lighter duty brackets from? I’d probably need to do the same and mount on the underside of the roof bars. Thanks!
Thanks mate . I haven’t really tried it in the rain as yet . It’s good and easy to setup and packup. I just used some light duty brackets that I didn’t use from my kings awning I used to have . You can get light duty brackets here www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/adventure-kings-awning-mounting-brackets.html. Hope this helps . Thanks for watching 👍🍻
@@EFFICIENTSELF Awesome. Thanks for the link. Have subscribed and been following your videos. Great inspo for our conversion journey. Lots of insights and tips to help with our Hiace 😊
I put a solid piece or rubber (a sanding block cut in half) in between the back of awning and onto the roof bar gutter bracket to take the movement out of the light duty bracket as the bracket supplied was very bulky . It is solid then 👍
Hey mate , I was just enquiring about your portable air conditioner. Is it sufficient enough to cool your van ?. I have the same model van as you and I'm setting up for permanent vanlife. Thank you in advance.
It would be sufficient cooling power but you gonna need a big battery bank and big solar setup as my setup would be a bit small for the portable air con which draws around 85 amps . Maybe somehow if you can get a small window air con in the van as I connected my home one and it had a draw of about 40 amps you might have a chance that way but you would probably want a 400ah battery bank and about 800 watts of solar on the roof … I’m still playing around and trying to find a solution myself as I tried a low power draw air conditioner off eBay .. it had a draw of about 18 amps and about 325watts but the thing wasn’t big enough to cool the van… maybe I will do a video on it if I can find a solution as I’m still tinkering about with it … but seriously you probably better off with a generator as it big power draw on your batteries and also you got to consider you have your fridge etc to run as well … thanks for watching 👍🍻
@@EFFICIENTSELF thank you for your feedback. I do I fact have a Honda 2.2 kVA generater to run it. I was merely looking at the size of the air conditioner having enough go to cool the inside of the van.
