Fun fact: Whenever you get an ad from Spotify , just close the app and start it over again . Especially for computer users where they give multiple ads altogether

Not long ago I was in a dilemma and couldn't convince myself to subscribe to Spotify. I'm already a YT Premium and Amazon Prime user. Both come with their music apps. However, Spotify offers two things which are very nice- 1) its algorithm consistently finds songs which I end up enjoying. And 2) cross platform streaming/casting.

The most important aspect that's missed by the Analyst in the video is, it's hard to move music from one platform to the other. I've been using Spotify for almost four years and all my music and playlists are saved there. There is no way I can easily export all that data to either RU-vid music or Apple music. Yes we can search for every song and make our own playlists but that's hard and not a lot of people do it. That's the reason why people don't switch platforms so easily, unless someone solves for interoperability in a very seamless way, Spotify will always have that first mover advantage and get to keep its loyal customer base

Spotify needs to collaborate with Netflix/Peacock or any other streaming platform. Or it's a death sentence for Spotify with Apple, RU-vid and Amazon coming at them.

If Napster had brain like Steve jobs then they had won this war.

All three will eventually lose if they don't change their strategy. The future is decentralized, where artists connect to listeners directly without any third party in between. Small artists have already complained about how less they get from Spotify and all the money is mostly eaten by Spotify and their music labels.

As a friend of an upcoming musician, I can tell you RU-vid MUSIC can very easily become the best platform if they are opportunistic enough because from both sides, legalities and royalties wouldn't be a mess; as it is with spotify, distributors, copyrights, royalty licensing, and hundred other stuff!!!

If we only consider RU-vid Music and Apple Music on its own, they're both very likely to be unprofitable, just like Spotify. This makes sense since they are priced very similarly (in most countries, but definitely in the US - their biggest market). However, since RU-vid and Apple can bundle music service into other things (e.g RU-vid Premium, Apple One Bundle) AND they sell other hardwares (e.g Google Pixels, iPhones/Macbooks/airpods etc), Google and Apple leverages music streaming to promote their other products and services, and make money from those, instead of having to make money off of music streaming as a standalone product. However, Spotify doesn't have anything to bundle with, so it's actually in a much worse position than Apple and RU-vid. I made a video explaining why Spotify has never made a single dime in profits ever in its 16+ years of history, and how Spotify is trying to turn this situation around. Might be Interesting to you.

Spotify has a loyal consumer base, and shall stay with them, moreover if price stays competitive.

I don't know about other countries but in India American companies are not competitive and they lose out easily from Chinese, Korean and even Indian companies. American companies tries to serve rich whereas Chinese, Korean and Indian serve everyone.

I want to quickly tell more on pricing. Apple Student plan is 49/-, personal is 99 and family is 149/- Similarly we have pricing for Spotify and youtube. Family account comes for 180 for both of them where you can add 6 users. It only costs 30 rs per person if you plan to buy stuff smartly. Choice is yours.

I think this guy has given the idea's to RU-vid now.😂 RU-vid can destroy the market of big gaint streaming platforms even including Netflix , prime because 1. It has the biggest subscriber base. 2.Biggest platform for individual creators with high quality content. 3. RU-vid premium content could go to next level with affordable charges thereby decrement in the subscription charges of all other platforms like jio did in telecom sector. Definitely RU-vid has that potential to revolutionize the streaming market.

RU-vid music deserves a lot of credit too. Those personalised mixes that it makes are on par with Spotify. I’m talking about the premium version though.

Spotify could try to launch their own version of RU-vid, I know it's huge transition but people are desparately looking for good alternative. Which will leverage the creators to get the benefit of new platform as well as attract musicians to be on the platform. I know it sounds huge transition but you gotta do something big if you're competing with Google and Apple at the same time

I have some views on this video. But first and foremost, amazing video with great insights and learning for all. 1. The price for an Apple Music subscription (in India) is INR 99 (INR 49 for students). I might be nitpicking, but I believe it makes a great difference when considering millions of users. 2. I still feel that Apple Music has a massive advantage over Spotify and RU-vid in the Apple Ecosystem. Outside of that ecosystem, yes, RU-vid has a high potential to surpass its competitors. However, given that Apple Music is available on the Play Store should be an interesting thing to look at. 3. Apple Music also got new features like Spatial Music and Lossless Music for free to the subscribers. Obviously, this can be replicated, but I believe the advantage of gaining the "Prosumer" and "Audiophile" market is evident. And music is something wherein one would generally not being easily switching between multiple platforms. 4. RU-vid, as discussed, has the chance to be on top, but there is a lot that needs to be done to specifically eat on the competitors' shares.

As someone who has used both YTMusic (premium) and Spotify Premium for more than a year, the playlists and recommendations for Spotify outweighed those of YTMusic. Found almost all of my favourite music on Spotify as well (English + Hindi + Punjabi). But I am open to using YTMusic again if it gets better with time.
