I think the rock community owes Busted a huge apology for decades of looking down on them as a band for kids, somehow not "rock" enough to be rock. We need to look around at the state music is in, understand that not every band is Slayer but be grateful they still fly a brand of guitar riffs, jumping up and down and enjoying good music. I look back and wonder why was everyone so damn judgemental, when you can rock a party like this at Download!
Are they really any different to bands like; Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Bowling For Soup etc...? who last time I checked were all accepted as Pop-Punk bands by the "Rock community" and played on rock stations like Kerrang
Easy to write them off and question why they were at Download, but at their core they’re a pop punk band and no different to half the bands on the main stage…Bowling For Soup, The Offspring, Neck Deep, even the headliners Fall Out Boy.
I can't lie - as an 'older' attendee I was truly shocked at the Busted announcement. BUT - I was seriously impressed! They, along with Wheatus should have been given a bigger space!
Bands like simple plan , bfs, all play there busted are the uk version of them, fight star played with out busted would be no fight star , music is music, you’d probs have a nightmare to know Jordan fish is producing there next album and members of slipknot went to there London show 😂😂
As metal as plastic! Just another one of those bands that came around under the very odd label of pop punk! WTF? I remember watching AC/DC headline in the 90s when it was a one day festival,Thunder opening and getting band of the day! Another festival ruined by crap bands.
Boy, my student years in England (2000-4)! Capital FM & local british music scene on the radio (Busted, Atomic Kitten, Ron Keating, etc.) and TOTP & Smash Hits magazines which I was buying religiously! lol.... the memories! ☺ I am so content that nowadays Busted are so acclaimed that are playing freaking Download festival & also their audience is now 50/50 men/women, whereas when they started, they were mainly loved by girls. First saw these when I was 10, saw them at Slam Dunk a few years ago and it nearly made me cry to see how much they’ve grown and become incredible musicians and performers, rock and roll 🤘
At end of the day music is ment to untie us not divide I've been download and yeah your surrounded my strangers but your amongst friends and family all there to make memories, but if people want to be bad guys then thunderbird are go
I don't like them,but the atmosphere in the tent was pretty amazing. They deserved a slot at Download and should of been on the main stage or second stage.
Can’t believe it was busted who asked to be in the tent… should’ve been on opus at least the tent was so heaving couldn’t get within 500m and the amount of twats with there chairs siting right in the middle of the way of everybody else taking up more space were fools 😂
I’m going to say because Reading Festival has been turned to shit with mostly todays modern ‘acts’ 😇 if you notice, a lot of the acts you’d normally see at Reading, are now playing Download
As a british metalhead in my 30's, busted where the first 'band' I got into and a lot of download goers are probably in the same boat...not a band I'd ever listen to now, but there's a certain king of nostalgia there
Personally i disagree! these guys were a gateway for me and many others into the realm of pop punk and rock music....my music taste when i was 8 and listening to these guys got me learning guitar, from there i got into Nirvana and then Metallica and so on. So for alot of people i think its a nice sentiment to see the band (from my age group i guess) that got them into alot of heavier music :D
I think it's time to drop the "if it's not heavy, it's not cool" mindset, it's very old fashioned. My personal journey went from pop/punk to real heavy stuff back to more melodic pop/rock stuff. It's nice to appreciate a broad spectrum of music and not being an elitist. Busted are killing it!
