Amazing video. I am a Nio investor here in the states and heavily agree with the ideas around battery swapping. Adoption will come to Evs once it's convenient as has stations! Thank you for sharing!
I'm on board. I agree that NIO, has awesome technology. I'm averaging in on the Stock. I first started purchasing when it was much higher, so I think it is a steal at the current price. People in the 60s & 70s thought we would never by into a Japanese company (Toyota and Subaru). I think the same mindset is what Nio is going through right now. I expect Nio to be a huge player int he World EV Market.
Wow that was brilliant! Thank you for taking the time to do this, and for doing it in 360, something I've not seen or used for some time. Really good factory tour, its absolutely fascinating to see the architecture of the buildings (NIO house looks really impressive) and my goodnes the sheer size and scale of the factory! 1300 robots! I was surprised how clean and quiet it was too. Please do more of these, they're absolutely superb!
Fun video. Infectious enthusiasm. Like a kid in a Chocolate factory. I think a lot of EV enthusiasts are also general technology enthusiasts, so talking about the architecture and sustainability side was interesting. NIO is my favourite EV brand, period. Primarily because of the battery swapping approach. I don't think they need to roll out battery swapping stations. All they need is to have swapping stations at their repair centres.
I've got one. I was nervous to begin with, but it's holding up pretty well 15 months down the line. (Except for the warped undertray from new, but I'm booked in for a fix for that.)
@@jkuntz67 I'll go further. Last year I was at Everything Electric London where test drives were being offered by the dozen. I got to drive a Tesla MY and A BYD Seal. They were different but both had their attractions. The BYD was softer and cosier, and they MY was sportier with better handling. I preferred the MY but the Seal really nice. I could easily make that car my daily drive. Mind you, the Xpeng P7 really quickens my heart.
I been a NIO investor since IPO. And considerable amount of time as a NIO influencer of my own doing. People doubt NIO but experiencing this showcases our commitment to success I head to NeoPark soon
Love the 360 content Elliot. It was great until I figured out I could stand up and just move my iPad around to view all areas and then it became fantastic. I would love to see more content like this.

This is absolutely brilliant. I am tired of all the racist anti-Chinese commentary - it is becoming obvious to me that China and Korea are leaving the USA and Europe EV production in the dust. The quality looks amazing.

They (them again) said the same about Nissan and Toyota, I’m sure the BBC did a documentary about it during the 80s ( along the lines of how wrong this perception was and European manufacturers better take note)
The 360 camera and ability to scan around yourself is an amazing new facility that suits such presentations very well. I wonder how soon it will be before other RU-vidrs use this same tech.
Clearly they have an unfair advantage (spending money where they should, instead of share buyback schemes to benefit senior mgt), we can’t allow this .. quick, slap on a 100% tariff, so legacy OEMs can continue their same poor management and to stop motorists around the world seeing how good competition can benefit them.
Nice video, Chinese car manufacturing has come a long way in a short time. I am, however, surprised no one asked if you were paid by the CCP for the positive comments.
This is the future of vehicle manufacturing, the factory was so orderly, quiet and clean, you look at the American car factories they are dirty, dark and super noisy, the West can't compete with the Chinese efficiencies, they just know how to make things quicker, cheaper and at the same or better quality, just their software still needs some work.
Are you JOKING ??? ( About Chinese Quality). TESLA Buyers in the US ...Insist/Prefer their EV to come from CHINA Shanghai Giga Factory. However due to unilateral Additional TAXES being imposed for Chinese Made Tesla ...... Tesla Buyers have to Put Up with "US quality" EVs.
Watched the video in a Quest 3 headset and got that up close feeling without actually being there. Wish the quality was better, but I know that's a RU-vid limitation. In the future I would suggest not to pan the video since that's kind of disorienting while in VR...🤪
Top quality manufacturing . Probably better than the European Vehicle manufacturing. Only problem is though , The availability of spare parts when required .!
do you think if someone builds a factory worth $ 7 bill , the company will not provide spare parts?? ofcourse they will..if you mean if they are outside of china, if through an official dealer, im sure they will have spare parts..just like any legacy carmaker ..if you take the risk and import a chinese car without a dealer being available in your country, then naturally it is a risk you are taking...
I know you concentrate more on technology, design etc, but what about the *business* of producing EVs? NIO seems a really impressive company, making very good cars, but don’t you agree the fact they have never been profitable (yet) is also really important?
Seriously…wtf are people talking about profit. Still a fairly young company and they are branching their tentacles out. Envo sub brand begins deliveries in September, Firefly to launch next year. It’s instant gratification or nothing with you young folk these days. Patience is a virtue. Remember that.
I initially tried watching this on a TV and just got a weird fisheye view. People do that still sometimes 😂. However, once transferred to iPad 360 interactivity initiated! That factory is immense and the quality control seems top notch. I get all the green initiatives which are great but how big must the construction carbon footprint be? Immense amounts of concrete and steel used plus all the probably non zero emission plant used. Hopefully it’s there for the long haul and the carbon savings from the 1 million/year zero emission vehicles recover the factory footprint in a timely manner?
14:20 technically the most sustainable way is to use public transportation like high speed pan country train (I hope their implementation grows more than its now in china) and people don't have to rely on individual EVs for transportation Also Ev buses,trams for intra city transportation.
I doubt many realize how many Chinese made vehicle parts are found in vehicles built in 9ther countries. China is massive and has many builders. Just like any other large group, some will be terrible and others amazing. For me, I am more impressed with mass production at low cost and high quality. Sure, it is fun to see the craxy expensive vehicles and those are often high quality, but it easier to build high quality if you are able to charge the consumer high dollars. NIO still pushing battery swap feels like they are too derply invested in it to stop doing it. The pace of battery tech improvement keeps lowering any need for battery swaps like this. Sure, if a battery goes bad, it is nice to be able to easily swap it, but that is rare. The cost and upkeep of swap stations has to be higher than just charging stations. I wish NIO all the best. Consumers need choices and multiple companies fighting for their money. Nice job on the video.
Battery swapping is ideal for dense city environments where you don’t have personal chargers at your home. Battery swapping is and always has been meant to be a supplement to charging piles..which, by the way, NIO has the most charging piles in China. If only people did their DD on NIO. It’s a shame. Wonderful company.
@Mathias04 I did not say NIO was a bad company, I just disagree with battery swap. In dense cities, charging stations have been installed in a wide variety of places. In Hong Kong, San Francisco, and other dense cities, parking garages at malls and other businesses. In London they are testing small chargers that pop out of the ground along the sidewalk where vehicles park. These are all places where the massive swap station could not fit. Stick your "DD" comment in the garbage. Charging stations are cheaper to install, fit just about anywhere and definitely in places where NIO swap stations would never fit.
This video sounds like a NIO commercial, l think most pepole know Chinese cars are well built now, it is more the European prices and some European custom software that is less in your face that is the pain points
