In reality, every material WITHIN the zones has a 1% chance of being restored each minute - as the zones only exist to prevent respawns if you are currently in them. Sorry for the confusion!!
When climbing in the rain, I tend to jump up after every 2 seconds or so. It seems Link will always slip after a climbing jump, but the distance covered makes up for it.
Draco Errarus Yeah, similarly I wait for Link to grab with each arm twice (4 movements), then jump up, slide down, repeat. Its the most efficient I found, I never slide down except the guaranteed after the jump
Me too. I'm surprised he said it's random, and I'm somewhat skeptical of that. I'm usually able to time my jumps just right so I can get a steady upward climb even in rain. I wonder if either it's a fixed moment from the first slip after a jump or if the supposedly random slips are actually fixed but dependent upon gear, making it appear random if you're not paying attention to what gear you're wearing when you measure it? I dunno.
Marsupial Gamer My guess is that it’s exactly how Croton described if you don’t jump, but every jump has a 100% chance of causing a slip (and thus resetting the slip timer).
Nah, the game just figures out whenever you really don't want to find a yiga member, especially when fighting a lynel or guardian, then spawns them ASAP
When climbing in the rain: I normally wait for link to make 5 Steps upwards, because he normally slips right after that. And before he can slip, I jump. That normally allows me to cover enough ground to make it to the top
I've taken a moment to look at the climbing, and from what I see, Link slips after 5 "passes". Each pass is how you'd usually count it. I.e: left arm + right leg up: 1 pass. Right arm + left leg up: +1 pass If you watch the slipping part again, you can accurately count 5 passes before he slips. I've been using this for a while to help, so I hope it helps you!
Hey there! From playing the game, I realized the within each of the gear you have, say 6 savage Lynel crushers with attack 106, it will organize it from durability. So if you have them all untouched , and you hit an enemy with one, that one will be sorted to the end of the crushers.
Ok so here’s another question, when not wearing armor, Link swims slightly faster, but just a single piece of zora armor is better than that, but what if you have a level 3 speed buff while not wearing any armor, is that the fastest way to travel in water then?
11:35 there are some places I’ve found to consistently spawn yiga people including the Faron Bridge where a yiga with a bow consistently appears for me
One thing that I don't think I've seen anyone address; what causes sunshowers, aka those brief bursts of rain when both the sky and the weather indicator show that it's supposed to be clear? Are they completely random? Do they happen at certain times? Does previous weather (ie humidity from a rainstorm last night) have anything to do with it? And what determines the duration? It's the one part of this game that still vexes me. When the Sheikah Slate says it's not supposed to be raining, gosh darn it, _it's not supposed to be raining!_
jabberwagon oh I guess I didn’t think of it too much. I generally try do blue flame as fast as possible and I’ve only ever done it 2 or 3 times as well.
During the rain, I noticed that I can make a decent distance slipping by counting how many steps up Link takes, then jump up as Link takes the 5th step. This might just be me getting lucky, but it seems to work everytime.
Yeah 5 hand grips matches the minimum time, which is an amazing visual indicator. Climbing speed buffs mess it up a bit though, since Link moves his body faster
Here's the deal: Without climbing set fully upgraded - Link will slip after every 5th arm reach up. With the fully upgraded climbing set gear, Link will slip after every 7th reach up. So, if you jump climb RIGHT before he does the last reach every time you will always have a +net gain. So, climbing in the rain with your fully upgraded climbing set on and 3 wheels of stam really doesn't stop you from going anywhere; especially if you have stam food too. The rain has ceased to be a problem when climbing after that point.
To cover the rain slipping statistics a bit less confusing, you can always count on the fact Link will slip when climbing in the rain on his 6th hand raise as he climbs up, no matter left or right, so try to jump right after the fifth climb to maximize distance
That ad was extremely well targeted and that looks like a genuinely useful grip. Kudos to the people involved, for actually advertising in a smart consumer friendly manner.
One thing I do for climbing in the rain is jump every 5 times Link places one of his hands in the wall. Jump as he places the hand, slide down a little, then climb 5 times again, jump, and slip. Its worked pretty consistently for me so maybe it's because it resets the slipping timer, but it works for short climbs...
One thing: Chests do respawn if you drag it two map sections away from the one it spawned before opening it Learned it from Kleric, it’s useful if you wanna have Hylian shields with different modifiers
Can I just say thank you for how useful and game changing these stat videos are? Never before would I have played the way I do now, but the knowledge you have provided is so incredibly useful: - How multishot bows affect different types of arrows - Which shields are best for shield surfing - How to properly use buffs - Which horses are the best - Stamina usage - "Exp" system I mean, I was already optimizing my combat, but knowing these things has helped me so much in other parts of gameplay. Again, just, thank you so much!
There is a glitch where u charge a one handed attack and at the first ring u switch shields while moving your joystick forward it will make u walk in a really weird way
Throwing a wepon at a monster will instantly break the wepon unless it is a boomerang in which it will take 1 durability off. When a wepon is thown at the ground it won't damage it unless it is badly damaged in which it will then break instantly.
Alright, if you're gonna make a part 3, I have another question/myth: Does using a weapon/item for something outside of its intended purpose (i.e. using a broadsword to break an ore deposit, or a hammer for combat) cause it to lose more durability per strike than normal? Because whenever i've done that my weapon does seem to break a lot faster than I remember... that said, it might just be because I happened to not be very observant of how much usage my weapon had left on those occasions, but one can never be too sure-
I covered it in the last Mythbusting vid, but using the wrong weapon on an object does not consume extra durability - as one hit always equals -1 durability regardless!!
15:00 to be honest, the only reason i change into the full zora set is if i'm gonna be ascending waterfalls, i assume i'll have the possibility of having to swim through more water when i reach the top, so may as well put the entire set on early.
I figured out that while climbing in the rain, Link will slip after about 4 grabs, but he will automatically slip when jumping upwards. The distance made by the jump plus Link's 4 grabs makes rain climbing somewhat easy and bearable.
Do specific Elemental Weapons and arrows do more damage to the Blights? I know they onehit Lizalfos, Mages and Slimes but does this also apply to the blights? Like do Ice Arrows more damage against Fireblight?
@@korequeeroshinguji5646 Electric arrows do more damage in general though thanks to the elemental buff (which I just learned about from one of Croton's other videos)
Another one for ya, minimum attack power to break an ore deposit in one hit, for non-hammer/Goron weapons. Based on my own testing, the answer seems to be 27 for two handed weapons. Not sure if it is different for other weapons types. I found this out when I wanted to try keeping around an ultra stylish Silver Longsword or the ultra durable Double Axe for ore breaking, but it only works if I'm wearing attack up armor.
If you are trying to get to max arrows, I have an easy tip that doesn't involve exploiting or glitching. even better you only have to do it occasionally. However, it does require a little bit of patience. For one, buy out every shop of their arrows, they can be found in almost all towns, and at every stable where you'll find beadle selling them. That should get you a decent amount. Step 2, remember that annoying path you had to walk up in the rain to get to the Zoras? The one you only traveled once because teleporting to the domain is just a no-brainer? Well, surprise surprise, the Lizalfos that make their home there have an absolute shitload of arrows. If you walk along the path and kill every lizard, you should have 100-150 arrows by the time you're done (they randomly drop either 1, 2, or no bundles on death). Revisit every bloodmoon and bam, even more to throw on to the pile. Just don't use too many between moons and you should be fine.
Nope. Il will always lose 30 durability if it receives a beam from a gardian and those beams will always do 500 damage to gardians when they are hit again with there beams
Climbing in the rain always makes you fall after a time interval (consistent, but not in synch with Links's steps) equivalent to 5-6 steps, or a jump, wichever one you do first. If you fulfill both those criteria at once, you still only slip once (slip distance is always the same as a jump). The best way to climb in the rain is to take advantage of this by making Link move 4-5 steps up and then jumping, since you fall back down from the jump, but still got to climb 4-5 steps before that.
I could've sworn I heard somewhere that the frequency of Yiga attacks is based on how many Mighty Bananas you have in your inventory; the more you have, the more often they appear Did I stock up on almost 400 to maximize spawns for nothing?
I have a few questions. What is the speed of each enemy compared to link when both running and sprinting, and what about when swimming or paragliding? What about with a speed boost? Also, how far away can each monster spot you from, and how far away do you have to get for them to forget about you? In particular, how far can lynels snipe you from? (I would love it if you would answer either or both of these questions, but if you do, can you just show my first name?)
happy to see another one of these. (: i'm particularly interested if the drop rates of materials vary when fighting enemies with different methods. from my experience, it seems that i always got better materials when fighting guardian stalkers with a weapon, instead of using quick and easy ancient arrows (i especially got more ancient cores) so i wonder if the game rewards skilled combat with more/better drop rates or some sort?
For climbing, there also seems to be a difference between standing still and actively climbing for the rain. And, while climbing, I always seem to get a certain number of link climbing up animations before he falls.
Question: Sometimes you can see travelers fighting against monsters. After some time they become unconscious. What is their HP? Is it the same for all these NPCs and when do they respawn? (I assume after a blood moon)
I imagine it's equivalent to 4 to 6 hearts given most take more than two hits before going down. It might be rng whether they go down sooner than that, but it could be as simple as that they were already fighting and got hit a couple times before you even noticed them. I do know the npcs are capable of killing (red) bokoblins though. I wasn't sure they even could as they're almost always get knocked out before they can finish them off. But the one npc i did see manage what i thought impossible for npcs made me super happy.
4:58 One trick when climbing in the rain is to do the dash. It immediately procs the slip, but it also resets the slip timer. So by dashing after every four steps you cancel out the slip and actually make slow, but consistent progress.
My rain climbing technique - four "steps" then a jump. You usually slip after the fifth step. Granted you also slip after jumping, but you've gained more ground. It's effective at climbing short-medium distances in the rain, depending on stamina. Once you have a routine raining climbing becomes less frustrating.
This is kinda a guess--it would need testing--but I think I know how slipping while climbing in the rain works. When you first start to climb, you'll slip after Link grabs 7 times. If you continue to climb, you'll slip after 6 grabs, then 5, then 4, by which point you'll likely be out of stamina. If you jump upwards right as Link performs his 7th grab, though, it'll reset your limit back to 7. You always slip after a jump, but you'll be gaining height as long as you do the 7 grabs before jumping. Again, this needs testing, but this is what I've always done and it has always been 7.
Idk how you did it but your ad read was oddly the most wholesome and cozy add read I have ever seen. Idk if it’s because I’m already chilled out when watching your vids or not. Either way it was a thing I noticed.
Whenever I climb in rain, I tend to count how many "steps" I take. It makes more sense if you see what I mean, but after seven "steps" I jump up and then slip. I'm not sure if this makes me climb higher but I do know it's consistent.
I assumed that's how the fire worked since that's how the Deku sticks worked in OoT and MM, but not everyone is an old lady so BotW was their first Zelda game, so I can see why that would be confusing.
I dont know if people know this already, but it's possible to climb in the rain if you time your jumps just before you think you're going to slip. It'll cost a little extra stamina compared to normal climbing, but that's a light drawback in comparison to not being able to climb at all. Especially when combined with upgrading climbing gear, I've been able to scale mountains without too many problems so long as I had enough stamina food to keep going.
I've noticed that sometimes, when I hit a guardian with the Master Sword, it fires off a beam in a certain direction. Some details: It only seems to happen when they don't notice me, and they always fire a beam in the same, seemingly random direction. To try it out, I recommend going to the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, then paragliding down behind the guardian, then repeatedly hitting it with the Master Sword.
When I try to climb something in the rain I just count how many "steps" has link advanced and jump, let me explain, without any climbing speed buff, Its 5 steps before you slip, so I go 4 and then jump, with the max lvl buff its 8 I think, so I jump at the 7th one, this way I can get a little bit of distance so I can climb some things that are not too high. (Sorry If I misspelled something, my main language is spanish)
For the rain climbing, I always count 5 of Link's leg/arm movements, then jump for the 6th so I can get the most out of the climb. It is quite annoying to do: I recommend just windbombing or fast travelling instead (or waiting out the rain but no one does that tbh)
Rain climbing strat: If you only climb four steps then immediately do a jump up you'll gain a fair bit of height then slip down a bit. If you keep doing it you'll find you're gaining a fair bit of height. You obviously won't be able to climb as high as if it wasn't raining, but you can still climb fairly far even with little stamina. If you use ravalis gale or a wind bomb to get a higher starting point you can easily climb pretty high cliffs in the rain. You can also whistle sprint up most slopes even steep ones, and regen stamina while you're climbing.
When climbing in the rain, the best to do is to go up by 5 movements, and jump before the 6th is completed. That is what has worked for me ever since I've tried everything else, or waiting for it to stop raining.
From my testing, link slips while climbing in the rain right after/as he makes his fifth climbing motion in a row, i.e., him raising on leg and arm and them pulling himself up is one motion. This seems to be pretty consistent across all slopes and angles regardless of speed.
I noticed it literally as soon as I published 😬 but both the on screen spreadsheet and subtitles say "to" I just messed up on the voiceover without realizing it 😅 Thank you tho!! :)
Climbing in the rain can be quite easy, if stamina consuming. You just have to jump shortly before you think a slip will occur. Then, you may slip back the jumped distance, but you "saved" the distance you climbed up before that
I’m glad you have the stats of the wild series. I’m planning on doing a lets play of my first 100% playthrough of breath of the wild, also doing it on master mode.
- Do different weapons or attack power yield more Hylian Rice when cutting grass or is it always just random? - Is it random or is it set? - Does the time (night vs day) or weather have any effect? - Is there a certain place that will yield more Hylian Rice?
To climb small heights in the rain: Climb 4-5 steps Jump (this will make you slip, but you still gain some height) Repeat I can climb most trees and the thundra plateau with maxed stamina using this method, but I always have a fair bit left over.
When I was 100% completing the game; I was up to 899 Korok seeds, and the last one I needed was from an apple tree puzzle. I made the mistake of approaching it in the rain, and the trees were struck by lightning! Now, the trees may have re-spawned relatively quickly, but the apples too FOREVER to re-spawn! Now I know why!
I think the loot does respawn from decayed guardian corpses. It takes a long while but I’ve hit up Fort Hateno & Akkala Wetlands every now and then for parts.
I put the full zora suit on, but not because i expect to swim faster up the water fall, but you do swim faster in said ponds, and at less durability. Takes a fraction of a second to equip all 3 (if I'm already going for the 1), so might as well get the full perks
I love these videos; they make me enjoy this game so much more. I’m glad Nintendo didn’t make the game too complicated; it’s simplicity is part of the beauty. But I love that RU-vid channels like this teach us the mechanics. Keep up the great work!
I always put away my weapon after a bit cause that's what I used to do in ocarina of time/majora's mask with the stick, I didn't know if it did anything but was so used to it that I kept doing it. Glad to know it's actually the case haha
It's interesting because in those games, as soon as you light somthing on fire the timer for your stick burning up resets. I thought this would be the case for botw too, but sadly it isn't :/
During rain, I let Link slip down a wall, then climb five steps AND leap before the next slip happens. This gradually gains vertical distance, but obviously can't climb as high as dry conditions.
If you don’t need to climb super high and it’s raining the trick I use is climbing for roughly 1.5 seconds and then jumping which will trigger the slip. You can repeat this if you have enough stamina to slowly gain height. It’s not great but it is something.
I tried chopping down every tree in the forest next to Hateno and by the time I finished the trees at the other end started respawning. On the other hand, korok tree puzzles seem like they take forever to respawn.
Thank you sooo much for these extra tips and tricks every now and then! Croton you are such a great content creator and I can’t wait to see your next post!
There should have been a climbing pick that you can get in a very hard to get to area, with a hidden shrine, that you can get 2, that would count as key items, and to use them you can hit the attack button while climbing, and the same again to pick it up, or to jumo off, and would prevent you from skipping in the rain
I would like a more in depth analysis of stealth. For example, does a stealth buff increase swimming stealth (like when catching fish), do some enemies have a higher attentiveness to sound (they hear you easier), and do some climates/weather increase stealth (like rain might be a level one stealth buff, or walking on snow might help as well)?
In my experience climbing in the rain: Going straight up, I noticed link always slips on the 4th grab, so I make it a point to do the climb jump between the 3rd and 4th grab. You still slide, but at least you’re make progress, although small. 3 steps up, 1 step down.
