Bustle Back Lincoln Continental 1982 Givenchy / Signature V8 Test Drive For Sale Video Review www.1OwnerCarGuy.com This 1982 Lincoln Continental is very nice and only has 1 Owner and 61K Original Miles on it. This is a sweet car with the 5.0L V8 engine it it. It has plenty of power but still does good on the gas mileage. This car fires right up and runs, drives, and shifts great. The exterior is very nice. The paint looks great and has a very nice shine to it. Looks like the car spent most of the time in a garage. The body is straight as can be and not hardly a dent or ding anywhere. The car has a lot of chrome and nice factory wire wheels. The interior is just as nice as it gets. It is fully loaded with all the options and everything on the car works. This is just a great car that is as nice as it gets. From Wikipedia:
After a one-year absence, 1982 saw the Continental name reapplied to a mid-size car based on the long-wheelbase version of the Ford Fox platform. Intended to compete with the Cadillac Seville (priced in 1982 from $23,433), the new Continental was priced from $21,302. Unlike the Seville, which switched to a front-wheel drive chassis for 1980, the 1982 Continental remained rear-wheel drive. While the now-unrelated Mark VI was produced in coupe and 4-door styles, the new Continental was strictly a four-door sedan. For 1982, the Continental was offered in base, Signature Series, and Givenchy Designer Series trim. Starting in 1983, the Signature Series trim was dropped but base and Designer (Givenchy and/or Valentino) trims continued through 1987. The 1982 Signature Series and Givenchy Designer Series Continentals included many additional standard features and added $3,100 to $3,500 to the price of the base model. Fully optioned Signature and Givenchy models would top out at over $26,500 (approximately $63,043 in today's dollars) and were among the most expensive Lincoln sedans built to date. The standard powertrain for 1982 was shared with the Town Car; a carbureted version of the Ford 302 cid V8 backed by the new 4-speed AOD automatic transmission. Fuel injection replaced the carburetor in 1983.

Beautiful car! My family has always owned Lincolns and we have always been pleased with their service. Whomever buys it will be lucky to own it. This is a very rare find in such great condition.

Why don't luxury cars have opera lights anymore? They were so classy! This car was beautiful, Nathan!

This car came with the headlights that would dim themselves when it sensed oncoming headlights. In the small town I lived in there was a flashing red light at the top of a steep hill heading into town. As I would approach the intersection at night the lights would flick: Dim, Bright, Dim, Bright... Just a funny memory of owning this car. This was also the first car I owned with sun/moon roof. I good feature to have when your car is always full of young crazy girls on a Saturday night in town.

I owned this model for a few years back in 96. Every option on her worked, and it was the smoothest riding softest sounding ride I ever owned. The only thing was the "electric carburetor" Guzzled fuel. The 82' was the only year that it was used on. I would still own it today if my mothers boyfriend hadn't gotten drunk and wrapped it around a pine tree. He is gone now, but so is my car. Win some, lose some.

Back when cars were interesting, beautiful, flashy and possessed personality. Today's automotive landscape is so sad with mostly boring generic grey and beige crossovers that are hard to tell apart. Its so refreshing to see nicely kept cars from the past like this!

I loved these cars, it was just the right size back then when American luxury cars were very long. I bought a 1983 back in 1991, it got totaled in a head on collision with a drunk driver. In my opinion this and the Mark Series cars were the best looking Lincolns ever made. If you didn't know any better one would think they were looking at a Rolls Royce.

Absolutely AWESOME car! I absolutely adore the hint of a slantback without overdoing it - especially given the smaller dimensions of the car from the previous year. The proportions are flawless, and the execution was better than Lincoln & Ford get credit for. It is indeed a rare model; and although the JFK Lincoln is, without a doubt, Lincoln's best design (along with the '41 Zephyr), this is my favorite design. It just nails it, and it is still a stunning car today. 1982's 5.0 V-8 was also being dropped into California Highway Patrol Mustangs, and the era of muscle cars outrunning puny Dodge Diplomats was over. And although this Lincoln is obviously heavier, the engine is solid and built for that kind of acceleration. Kudos as well for the person who maintained this car to nearly showroom-new standards. My own 2007 Lincoln MKX just turned 100,000 miles, but it is as solid a vehicle as I have ever owned. I wish I could say mine was in that almost-new condition, but I'd still give mine an A. By the way, I figured out you are in eastern San Diego - I'm in North Park! I hope I see this beauty out some day - that'll be me giving a big thumbs up!!

Funny how the 80's Seville was more popular than the 80's Continental, yet the Lincoln didn't have the problems with it's V8 engine that Caddy's had for the first half of the decade...

I think this is the tidiest car you've had in a while - just immaculate really. As much as I like to see the project cars you've been selling of late, it is so nice to see a beautifully preserved car thats "like new". It's styling is a strange blend straght edges/corners and smooth curves here and there - love it! Sometime in the next few years I hope to be able to buy a near-mint american brand car of this era to use over here, and obviously if I do it'll be from you!

Those bustle back continentals are so hard to find in good shape these days. Also pretty positive that is a givenchy because its got that slick looking dashboard and the style of that grille I think. I remember looking at one in a used car dealership in about 2004.

1982 was the only model year that the "Fox" Continental was offered with the 3.8 "Canadian Essex" V6 engine, which was considered a no-cost option. Was only desirable to those with tight financial resources, and it did not return for 1983.

10:45 That non-recessed wiper is one of the only hints of this car's Fairmont/Mustang heritage; Ford did a great job of civilizing it. This car with a 302 was a better deal in 1982 than a Seville with a 4100; more pickup and longer life.

In these cars the parking brake releases when you put the car in drive, but there is also a manual release lever above the brake pedal. I have a Mark VII, which shares most of the mechanicals and controls with this.

Those cars had the great 302 CID which was reliable, but the reason those never made it is because they have no iron frame under them and are UNIBODY and they were too long to be unibody. Now your town car back then from 80 to 89 had an iron frame and sat higher up off the ground. If a person would have driven the town car first before driving that one in the video they would have purchased the town car instead. I worked for Hertz car rental part time on saturdays and sundays shuttling cars between intercontinental airport and hobby airport here in Houston Tx. And the long time shuttles as well as myself liked the full sized cadillacs and al of the 2dr mark 7 lincolns (they had unibody also but were short enough that it worked) and they liked ALL the town car 4drs. But whew! That one in the video everyone hated!! They rode to low and would actually bottom out where there was dips in the road. The mechanics had LOW opinion of them too! The 302CIDS were good, but the way those drove sucked. NO ONE liked those and all those dash instrument panels were screwed up and were even loose because they had to be taken apart so many times
