So much to do and so little done, Chaps!! Weather has been all over the place again and it’s time to be kicking seedlings out of the greenhouse. We need the space.
We do get the Courgettes, Melons and Cucumbers sown however so it’s officially May 😆

The lady who runs my allotment shop posted yesterday that she had sweet potatoes in stock today. I had no intention of attempting to grow sweet potatoes this year, so I'm placing the blame 100% at yours and JB's feet!

Ann in derby here... My daughter told me about your chanell and i've watched most of the episodes during a fortnight's illenss.. I'm on the mend now and getting back to my allotment. (Also numberd 37). I fan trained a gooseberry once and discovered that as soon as the fruit is set you can make a regular task of clipping back any growth that comes after the fruit. so you don't let it make long scratchy branches. these little fruit spurs will get a bit bigger over the years, til you decide to replace the whole branch. New ones from the bottom can be removed as soon as seen, if you don't need a replacement branch. Thanks for sharing your joy.

Hi Jessie and your Mum, good job building the new bed & planting it up too. Had the same problem with our new Samsung phones last year, no USB connection. So, o wrnt to our local mobile phone shop & he had a plug with USB & the new Samsung connection turned. Maybe worth looking for a plug that connects to the new wire for your iphone. It's awful as they should of supplied the necessary wire/plug you can charge your phone 🙄 nightmare. I found it very successful sowing my cucumber seeds along with you. They are now planted in the greenhouse with small cucumbers on 😊 I'm with your Dad on the courgettes, I have tried them, but no. Maybe donate surplus veg to a food bank. Another great video. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

Last year I started shredding my zucchini/courgettes and measuring out the amount I need for 2 loaves of zucchini bread because my family LOVES it so much. We keep a couple out for sautéd onion, mushroom, zucchini and all the rest get shred and thrown into the freezer for the bread. I got a crap harvest last year so hopefully this year is much better and I'm going to do more plants than last year. I think we only had zucchini bread about 5 times last year which was very sad. Year before was much better.

Hey jess, i have sown ocra also for the first time. I´ve only eaten them once, pure snot, but the seeds were almost free and the flowers are beautifull so i thought what the heck. I laughed when you looked serieus in the camera telling us you won´t plant out more than one of those little white courgette. I tought; lies!!! But after that you admitted you are like all us garderners i suppose. Unable to toss seedlings. Or just plant extra because "some might fail" 😂😂😂 I promise myself every year to not fall for that trap so if we remind you, will you remind me? 😅 lots of lovefrom Belgium

Sweet potatoes grow up vertically if you allow. String them up like your tomatoes. Otherwise they are running around everywhere. I grow mine vertically. Saves space but I grow them for the leaves ( stir fry, etc.) which are reportedly more nutrious than the actual potato. NC is one of the leading states that produce and export sweet potatoes so it is easy to find organically grown ones around here.

Bless you Jessie. I'm absolutely filthy mucking about in my garden after getting back from spending the last ten days of April in Spain. Planting out my peas, mulching my beds and finally enjoying the aboundant sprouting of seeds in my bougie greenhouse. Finally, the weather's warmed up here in Bristol! Busy sowing seeds with my Missy cat and enjoying the fact that I have the same old plastic cold frames that you've placed over your peas. I've been on a go slow approach this year and greatly reduced the usual amount of sowing that I usually would. Just as well considering how bloody cold it's been. You're a regular part of my Tuesdays and I find myself setting garden tasks alongside yours. Cheers for the inspiration babe.😊❤ Keep on Keeping on. X

I bought some dark blue flower seeds called "Sea Holly" which have germinated well. They're so unique. Spiky cones for flowers, foliage is blue also. First time trying them. I loved the look of them because they are so unique. Then went for flowers called "Blue Eyes". I was given some cucumbers you would call lunchbox, so they're down and I will grow them up a trellis made from willow branches. It's hard to sort out what I can grow, everything must be in containers.

Blooming rats got a lot of my tulips. If they didn't dig the bulbs up they got the tops as they came through. We got them on the wildlife camera. I did put netting on top of the pots, but next year I'm getting fine chicken wire and see if that helps. However I think if those little beasties want to get them....they will!!

Totally sympathise with your tulip devastation. I covered my tulip pots with chicken wire over winter to stop the squirrels getting to them but thought they’d be safe once they were up and thriving but ohh noo! Then pigeons (I assume) started nipping the tops off them leaving me with pots full of leaves 😣 Same thing happened to some of them in the beds. I’ve never had this problem before

I waited for your chickens to go immediately for the peas! LOL As soon as you took the BBQ down, I thought "MORE DAHLIAS"!! That would be such a great location to enjoy them from the swing. I have read and tried a great option for asparagus. If you leave everything smaller than a pencil size to grow on and feed the plant while you harvest larger spears. It reportedly will prolong the harvest by a few weeks.

Hello Jessie, The phone and chargers should all be the same and upgradeable. Sugar snap peas you should look for Sugar Magnolia Peas they are purple and just as good as the green ones. I saw Katrina growing them I now I grow them ever since. Here is the hysterical part: no matter how many we grow they never make their way into the house. My wife is not much for vegetables but she will eat as many as she can find so why not grow them? OK no drinking game for every time Jessie says Beauregard! lol I compare my weather the next 14 days with your weather and this time it was almost identical esp the temperatures. So I think we are past our last frost day unless there is a freak of nature. Have a great week I am already looking forward to next Tuesday. Bye for now
