Honestly I just wish the game didn’t crash every 3 seconds and would actually install on my Xbox. Otherwise I liked fallout4, especially when I started adding mods to the table.

Personally never been a fan of how mods spice up my New Vegas experience other than anti crash stuff. I honestly think the jank gameplay has its own fun to it.

Fallout 4 doesn’t have better gameplay, it has better gunplay. Everything else is meh at best. The amount of modding that can be done to Fo4 though is sublime. Edit: Right, because nobody here is apparently reading a comment chain before making their own remarks, NV was my third Fallout game, and I can’t even play any of the DLC, 4 was my second Fallout game, and I’ve beaten it multiple times, 3 was my first Fallout game, and then the disk vanished and I don’t know where it went, and I was only level 8 at the time. Despite all of that, 4 is still the most underwhelming Fallout game I’ve played, and the only enjoyment I get out of playing it nowadays is when I’m playing it with mods, even if they’re lacklustre PS4 mods. Can’t really comment on 3, because of my limited experience with it, but NV is inherently much more fun than 4 is, and is a much better Fallout game as a whole compared to 4, which requires extensive modding to put it in a state where it actually feels like a Fallout game, rather than some post apocalyptic settlement building simulator. Can’t believe I have to edit my own comment to make an absolutely useless point because nobody is going to bother listening anyways, because gods forbid criticism be allowed nowadays.
@CostaTheMeme I said it has better gunplay. The weapon combat is considerably better than previous Fallout games. I never said everything else was good, I said it was meh at best. The fact that it’s also got an upgraded texture and animation system compared to previous Fallout games means that the mods for it are considerably more advanced thanks to there not being as many restrictions both due to age as well as them being on more restrictive systems compared to 4. But nobody plays 4 for the base game main story anymore, they only play it for the proper good questlines added by mods, or they play the game with fancy new guns, either proper modern weaponry or weapons produced in the sixties and seventies for more variety and additional levels of gunplay compared to the pretty terrible selection of weaponry currently available in 4. You can also get a mod that removes the voice of your character, reintroducing the style of speech from FO3 and FO:NV, including the whole "silent" protagonist deal, and consider that Skyrim is over ten years old by this point, older than Fo4, and yet because of how malleable is, despite being one of the lesser Elder Scrolls games in the series, it still remains immensely popular. Why is that? Because mods can completely change how the game works, the same is true for Fo4 but to a lesser extent, however it can still be vastly changed. Hell, you can make your Fallout game feel like Stalker, Metro, and Fallout had a child, you can introduce weapons and enemies from various horror games, you can add mods that add entire new questlines that have been made by a passionate group of people, pretty much adding entire new content on the level of previous Fallout games in terms of quality. Fallout 4 doesn’t need to be a true RPG, because with mods it can be whatever the fuck you want it to be.
I say it does have better gameplay. It’s very clean and feels good (as good as it can be), the gunplay is nice, and the enemy’s have been improved in practically every way. They seek cover, they duck, hell they can even perform crazy things (deathclaws being able to pick you up and 1 hit you and ducking and weaving for example)

@@RainInTheSummer I don’t need to wish, because NV is already widely accepted as the best Fallout game, and most of the fans agree that NV is still the superior Fallout game overall. Sure, gunplay might not be like 4, which to be perfectly honest is just a shitty version of COD gunplay, but at least you get different ammo types, unique weapons are actually unique, oh and of course, the weapons look like actual weapons!
I played both vanilla FO4 and NV, though I could never play NV for long and get into NV because I felt it was boring and the gameplay was very dated in its combat, especially for a 2010 game (which ik people say combat is not important to an RPG, but it’s still a majority of what you do in either game). The problem is, I can’t mod FNV on console to make the combat and movement feel good, to make the traversal feel better, for me not to feel bored when slowly walking around everywhere in an emptying map.
Even compared to its competitors on launch, Fallout 4 was mediocre. It's only saving grace is the modding community, and even then no one can bugfix a terrible story.

Okay i see what you're saying, and I'm not gunna sit here and pretent F4 was a better game. But saying that a games mechanics are superior but you just have to sit down for a few hours and mod it, is just wrong. You can't expect a game to be better but only back that up with a modification to the actual game. If thats your standpoint than fallout 4 can be modded to hell and back to be very similar to NV with a massive quest mod that has player agency and a variety of choices. It just isnt a giod metric for argument

Well, in new vegas defense, you could mod new vegas gunplay level to that of fallout 4. But, like you just mentioned actually, it would be difficult if not impossible to mod fallout 4 rpg, story, dialogues, dark humours, choices, characters, politic thingy and all with hegelian shit to a level of new vegas... never and impossible. You ought to make a new fallout game at that point, not the "heavily-modded-fallout-4" maybe fallout 5?
As NPCs awkwardly stand in one spot ripe for the murdering because NPC AI is a nightmare in those games and a mod was made so that NPCs could sprint... lol (melee raiders stonk go up) Did we ever get an enemies in cover/move while shooting mod?
I mean FNV/FO3 default gunplay is pretty horrendous even by the standards of the time it was released so upgrading it to FO 4 levels is the natural progression
Yes, it just needs a Legendary Explosive weapon so you don't spend 5 minutes trying to kill a regular human with a star next to his HP bar. New Vegas also requires people to actually read the dialogue to enjoy it but hey, life's tough when your brain automatically shuts off after reading the 4th dialogue option.

Both games have flaws I don't get why Fallout fans have to always complain and bicker just enjoy the series, I enjoy Fallout 4s gameplay loop of explore, shoot, loot, build but if you don't that is completely fine you can enjoy what you like playing and not tear out your fellow wastelanders throat.
This is how it's always been tbh. Every time a new title in the series comes out, everyone will say the previous one was better. Happened with Fallout 3 after Fallout 2. I remember when New Vegas came out everyone was calling it dogshit and saying how much better 3 was. Now we see the same with Fallout 4. Guarantee you that when FO5 comes out the same thing will happen.
I just play in FO 4. And I like this game, for example: comfortable gunplay. Why people so overeating NV? Yeah, it's good+ game, but it's NOT GOTY 12/10 on fingers ends.

no, but liking fallout 4 and thinking it has better gunplay makes you stupid. it literally is the exact same gunplay, except in FO4 enemies are now bullet sponges and the guns look and sound terrible. Oh, and deathclaws and humanoid NPC's move around in combat like they have brain damage now.

The only redesigns I liked from Fo4 were the robots and the ghouls. Also, "no amount of mods"? You should know, since you are an Fo4 player like I am as well, that mods can do ANYTHING given time. Also...FO4 DOES have different ammo types, just less, and you can't switch on the- oh wait, there's a mod for that. And oh wait, there's mods that add more ammo types.

What I meant is that no matter how much mods you add to fnv it will never have a combat as good as fallout 4 And about the ammo types, yes there is a mod but its not as good or as complex as it was in new vegas And there is not a single mod for fallout new vegas that makes the enemies more varied (giving them unique behaviours and special skills)
What? Fallout 4 had great gunplay, some of my favorite actually. I used the semi assault rifle and clicked the trigger as fast as I could. No recoil and it hit like a truck, was so fun.

People say fallout 4 has better "smoother" gunplay, but I ask people to come up with ONE tangible reason why fo4 gunplay is better, they can't come up with an answer.
It's inherently smoother and easier to target enemies. The combat is genuinely snappier and more responsive, where as aiming down the sights in New Vegas is a chore.
They need to make it an option to have fps grenade throwing, because some of us loved using grenades in VATS, particularly because they explode almost immediately
Vanilla Fallout 4 has better gunplay then modded New Vegas. That's the thing. If you mod fallout new vegas it defeats the point because then you just mod fallout 4 to improve it.

honestly, this seems worse then OG NV combat... at least for me. I don't really like the "gameplay" of FO4 either. If I wanted to play a shooter, I'd play CS:GO or some COD. I played Fallout for the interesting storylines, and the scale of the world and its unique people.
They aren't, they're pointing out that the only advantage 4 has (gunplay) can be taken away by mods. Meanwhile NV has a good story, interesting factions, and some actual rpg elements.
Fallout 4 gameplay was called good because the previous installments were made ages ago. In reality I think it feels super floaty and jittery. And everything is going to have a million HP eventually.
I always just get on these videos and play devils advocate, that being said I think that the better AI makes the bad guys way more fun to fight in fo4 100%. The enemies hide and spread out, and the explosions and the way the environment reacts… absolutely brilliant!
Nicely? Fallout New Vegas with two mods plays almost as good as Fallout 4 does. Fallout 4's gunplay was inexcusable for being one of the few things that Bethesda improved. The fact that the janky ass modded Fallout 3 gunplay can be modded to be as good as Fallout 4 is just an indictment of Fallout 4's gunplay especially considering that the gameplay in Fallout 4 was always worse than patched Fallout New Vegas. The random encounters are unbalanced spongey slogs.

I feel like this is the general consensus but NV/Obshition fans tend to screech the loudest. fans of 3 and 4 don't even feel the need to punch down to NV. They probably enjoyed it as I had. I certainly don't hate new vegas. But when I hear crap fans put it on an untouchable pedestal.....it just makes me laugh. They're the same way about KoToR. Another unfinished Obshition mess they borrowed from competent devs.
New Vegas is, in my opinion, the better game, but all Fallout games are fun to play. Arguing over which one is best just lessens my enjoyment of all of them.

Personally i had a ton of issues with enb's on new vegas in the past, i recomend you use Realistic Wasteland Lighting and some other effects mod that adds blur, d.o.f. and whatever you think makes the game look fancy

I think Bethesda must've fired their gun person after Fallout 3 when they made the Hunting Rifle the same caliber as the tiny revolver. Because that "assault rifle" is very clearly not an assault rifle.

The unfortunate truth is that it's *still* janky as hell even with mods. Fallout 4 is a smoother experience than New Vegas will ever be and mods make it even smoother. Now if you want to argue about story? The people who wrote Fallout 4 should be cast into the pit of eternal suffering for writing something so hollow. Mods are a requirement to make Fallout 4 fun, which is not true of New Vegas.

You do, bullet sponges, no hit reactions, no reason to shoot legs torso or arms, cant even shoot weapons, legendary effects ruin balance and there are less weapons, you need like 20 mods to make it decent
fnv is great, but the fact you need mods to make it playable, and sometimes even that doesn't work, f4 may be riddled with bugs but despite that you can still have a great experience without any need for mods. if you prefer f4, that's great, if you prefer NV, that's great. stop with this whole comparison thing and just respect others tastes
