When I've talked to people about applying and getting into Cambridge, I've noticed that there are a lot of misconceptions about the process and who gets in so I thought I'd make this video to try and bust some of those myths!
I feel like there are some points where my voice is a bit annoying so apologies 😅
Hope this is helpful though, let me know if you have any other confusions or worries you've had about applying to Cambridge
The document I mentioned (updated for 2022 entry)- search "entry requirements for uk medical schools" and it's on the medschools.ac.uk website
www.medschools...

Hey! thanks for watching :) so I have a tips for med school interviews video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ZE-9cV0ezg.html I don't go into details about the specific questions they asked us for obvious reasons but cover the MMI style of Cambrigde grad entry interviews and generally what kind of things the stations could cover. The practical set up of the interview when I did it was in 2 rooms, different stations with timers and you moved between the rooms with 1-2 people in each station interviewing you (mainly 1). I'm not sure how much this will have changed for upcoming interviews, I know they had online ones for a few years Let me know if that helps or if you have more sepcific questions! good luck with your applications!

Great video - you did so well to get into Graduate Medicine at Cambridge. Why do you think you were chosen above other people? Do you think your UCAT score helped? There must of been something about you which stood out. I reckon it could have been your personality - you seem really personable which would make a really good doctor! :)
@gradmedgal2301
@gradmedgal2301 2 года назад
Aw this is very sweet of you to say, thank you! UCAT score would not have been looked at for Cambridge as for graduate they don't need an entrance exam and undergraduate uses BMAT. Unfortunately I'm not entirely sure what they saw as they don't give feedback if you get an offer (I asked :') ). I really thought I'd messed up a few stations and can't really say what made them overlook that. But from my understanding of what they're looking for, they want to know you're good at communicating empathetically and thinking through what they ask you (even if you don't know the answer). I guess just being genuine and having a go??

So excited to find your channel, omggg! You’re videos are so helpful, am working my way through ☺️☺️ Do you have any specific tips for the Cambridge grad med interview? I’ve got one coming up and I’m soooo nervous 😖

@gradmedgal2301 3 года назад
Hello, I'm so glad you find these useful, thank you for watching! Congratulations on your interview, that's awesome :) I think one of the biggest things they look for in graduates is that they are empathetic, communicators. Just make sure you do that in any questions that lend itself to it. You have to give them the "over and beyond your application" reason of why you should be accepted. For any of the more academic stations, think your process out loud, don't worry if you get it wrong (trust me I had an interviewer scribble something out, another one I got everything the wrong way round). They just want to know you are teachable. Hope this helps? Good luck with the interview and any others you have!

@@gradmedgal2301 ahh thank you so much for replying, so super helpful! Do you have any tips for the academic stations? I sat chemistry in 2013 so it’s been a hot minute, and I’ve been going over the BMAT syllabus, but do you think that’s enough? (Thank you so much for the new video too 🥰)
@gradmedgal2301
@gradmedgal2301 3 года назад
@@aquilagirl801234 ahh I feel you, chemistry was an age ago for me too. I didn't do the bmat so not sure what the syllabus there is. But essentially like general "known" concepts are what I went over. Not too much detail, just to be able to describe! Glad you saw the new one!

Loved the video! Are there any specific colleges you recommend applying to for those with sub-par A levels?
@gradmedgal2301
@gradmedgal2301 Год назад
Thanks for watching! I have just had a look at all the graduate entry requirements on the college websites and they all say ABB with a First class degree or A*A*A with a 2.1/incomplete degree which I believe is new (or at least more transparent). So I think they've all hanged to be in line with eachother. As I've always said, it's worth applying to 3 places you're likely to get interviews at and then putting Cambridge as a "punching" choice if you don't quite have the requirements and making the specific application form convincing

Hi, love ur video! Im applying for GEM at Cambridge this year after not doing so well in my entrance exam. As i am scottish i dont have a-level chemistry but like yourself took a chemistry module in 1st year of my undergrad which i got an A in. What kind of things did you write about this on your application to show this would compensate for A-level?
@gradmedgal2301
@gradmedgal2301 2 года назад
Hiya, glad you enjoined the video! I highlighted things from the a level specifications (aqa/ocr) that overlapped with my module and highlighted the percentage that I obtained in the module, in the A-Level section of the grad application form Hope that helps! Good luck :)

Hi there, I was just wondering how much does it cost for a UK student to study Post-grad medicine for a year in Cambridge ?
@gradmedgal2301
@gradmedgal2301 Год назад
Hello, it can vary depending on the university you are at because of different costs of living. I can't really give an average but to contextualise, the course costs £9250/year and then you'll have your living costs. For graduate entry medicine you can get a loan that covers both tuition fee and maintenance costs (though your maintenance from student finance england does reduce in your second year). However, you have to pay £3465 out of pocket for the tuition for your first year.

If I got BBB at A level and get a 1st class for my undergrad, will I get in?
@gradmedgal2301
@gradmedgal2301 Год назад
There's no way to be certain you'd get in as it's based on lots of different things. Some colleges seem to use an initial scoring system to see if you have enough "academic points" to be considered for interview. It could be worth asking admissions about this. But as always, if you have good entry exam scores, good workvoluntary experience, and you clearly have a good degree (meaning you have a high chance of interview at your other choices), it could be worth wildcarding Cambridge. Hope this helps!
