If you've ever gone through a deconstruction process, most likely it complicated the way you relate to the Bible. Having gone through both a deconstruction and reconstruction process, Stan Mitchell is explaining how he learned to fall back in love with scripture by learning to read and interpret it through a progressive lens.
If anyone has ever warned you you were on shaky ground theologically because "the Bible clearly says," you'll be so glad you watched tonight's Everybody Church Conversation Starter!

This is exactly how my heart changed from my experiences which started with getting to know many LGBTQ people who were some of the kindest, most Christlike people I knew. It got a lot more personal when some of my children as they came to understand themselves realized they fell into the LGBTQ category. As their mother I learned everything I could about how to help them with a lot of insight from other parents of LGBTQ teens, especially Mama Dragons. Many are religious like I am. It was quite a wrestle reconciling the needs of my children with what I thought my duty was as a follower of Christ. Seeing the great goodness of many LGBTQ people and becoming acquainted with the great pain and suffering many LGBTQ people experience because of the teachings of many churches and the way many religious people treat them led me to see everything I'd been taught very differently. I'm so grateful for my journey and the truths others have discovered, learned and shared that have helped me along the way. Also, it's so beautiful how you describe Christ as the word made flesh. It's so profound! Love your insights ❤

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.“ 2 Timothy 4:3 It’s interesting how you attempt to present a “Biblical” argument without opening the Bible because you have clearly fallen away, have abandoned truth and are following fallen fleshly emotion. You don’t even quote our savior Jesus one time because you have abandoned Him in order to hear yourself talk about your personal philosophies. I will share the words of Jesus on the matter of gender and marriage. In Matthew 19, the Pharisees are trying to trick Jesus about the subject of marriage and Jesus quotes Genesis, “Have you not heard that in the beginning God created them male and female? In the image of God He created them. And what God has joined together, let no man separate.” So the “incarnation” - Jesus - said that one of God’s first acts was to create us male or female uniquely in His image. And then he joined male and female in the first marriage which is a holy blood covenant bound by God. The Lord did this because it is His best will for us. Everything that He defines as sin in the divinely inspired scriptures is defined that way because it does us harm. I can say “listen to the story of my experience and my emotions” but if my experience is contrary to God’s best for me as revealed in scripture, then it will cause me harm, it will cause others harm, and it will lead to a bad consequence from a loving father who cares enough to correct me. I can express my story of an adulterous affair which may have felt good to my flesh but it is abhorrent to God and will result in my judgment. It also will result in harm to my spouse and the spouse of the person I had an affair with- not to mention our children. But according to your faulty logic, it must be moral because it’s my “experience.” So if a murderer likes the “experience” does that make it moral? Run from sin, fellow believers! It will destroy you. Run from Satan who is trying to deceive you. If your feelings contradict God’s Word, ask the Lord to forgive you and to change your heart. If the feeling is overpowering, it could be demonic in origin. Jesus came delivering people from the power of demons that were real then and are still real today. Jesus taught his followers to deliver people from demons. You can cast them out in the name of Jesus. Say “Perverse spirit, I command you to leave me and never return in Jesus’ name.” Demons have to obey Jesus’ authority. Get a Christian to pray with you that understands the power of the name and blood of Jesus to break every yoke. I have been set free numerous times in this way. Finally to this pastor: It’s ironic that you want Christians to be merciful towards lgbtq people but you are not merciful towards Christians but full of judgment for past errors made by God’s people. It is God’s will to judge and guide His church. He has given his inspired Word through His Son, through Peter, John, Paul, James, Matthew, Mark, Luke, Jude: through men who walked and talked with Jesus. We would be wise to base our doctrine on their divinely inspired teaching and not on the experience or opinion of people. Repent and turn back to sound doctrine for you are leading many people to hell.

About a week ago, a leader in my church told millions of watchers that "gender confusion" is a tool of Satan to destroy families. And there I sat with my transgender kid, who has a heart of gold and a love of God and Christ. A week later I watch this, tears streaming down my face, feeling loved and heard. I'm praying that the dissonance keeps pushing change. I praying that more people take the time to get to know my son, who is a real disciple of Christ. Thank you for this.

God has delivered me from the same. It is a demonic self-rejection and a spirit of confusion. They must be cast out with the authority of the name of Jesus. “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. This is the poem. I cannot see the sun right now for the clouds are in my way I cannot hear the song from the birds a sign of a brand new day I'm in the midst of the storm a foreign place to be a place where you cannot turn around And a place where you cannot see all you have is your faith and you pray for it to grow for only in the storms of life is there one to comfort your soul in the storms of life is where a man is truly made we're souls are being perfected restored and saved I will wait on you oh Lord and know that you are near I won't trust in what I see ahead but only what I hear and I hear you're still Small Voice telling me to be calm to rest assured in your peace and be still Kim steineke 2001 The trials of the LGBT I dedicate that poem❤️🙏😇
