This song is hauntingly lovely it reminds me of when I was a child and my father would play these songs while doing yardwork . I feel a sad nostalgia for how simple and clean and pure life was

This song almost has an undertone of sadness to it, for this must have been around 71, 72 or 73, soon Don would be gone, his untimely death in a motorcycle accident in Morro Bay, Calif in 1974. You could just see the admiration that Don had for Buck, the harmonies were spot on, they finished each others sentences. Buck was never the same after losing his best friend, his right arm. The Hager Boys as well were completely dedicated to Buck, and Susan Raye was such a sweetheart, everyone loved her. She married Buck's drummer around this time, Jerry Wiggins. I believe both of the Hager brothers, and Susan and Jerry are still alive and well today, and hopefully Buck and his bestie Don are upstairs making some great music again.

Beautifully done! Even before Dolly Parton did it this is so good to see Buck with Don Rich and Susan Ray and The Hager Brothers I also remember the early 70s when Buck and Susan Ray use to sing together.

When the morning sun streaks across my room And I'm wakened up from another dream of you Yes, I'm on the road once again it seems All that's left behind is a chain of broken dreams. But you know I love you, yes I love you, oh I love you. How I wish that love was all we'd need to live Oh, what a life we'd have 'cause I've got so much to give And it seems so wrong deep inside my heart That the dollar sign should be keeping us apart. But you know I love you, yes I love you, oh I love you. And if only I could find my way back to the time When the problems of this life had not yet crossed my mind For the answer could be found in children's nursery rhymes I'd come running back to you, I'd come running back to you. Though you know we can't live on dreams alone And to pay the rent I must leave you all alone You know I made my choice many years ago Now this traveling life is the only one I know. But you know I love you, yes I love you, oh I love you. But you know I love you, yes I love you, oh I love you. But you know I love you, yes I love you, oh I love you. But you know I love you, yes I love you, oh I love you...

I agree with a prior comment...yes Buck Owens of one of the 3 greats of ALL-TIME....Amazing what he did in the Music world...can you imagine in the 60's Buck was getting 10,000 a show and 10 % of the gate...unheard of... he was a Real ICON ....now the term is thrown around so loosely....Buck Owens invented the word!

Buck was a cash register. That man understood business and how to make money. His music with Don and the Buckaroos is my all-time favorite., but Buck's business acumen was amazing.

I was young when HeeHaw was on TV ,but today I still have a genuine love for all the great artists that appeared on that show, They were the real deal compared to most of what passes for country music today. At that time I thought the Haggar Twins were creepy and after watching this video today they still give me the creeps.

Actually written by Mike Settle from The First Edition. They are the band that did the song first. Dolly's version was about a dozen or so years later but she did do a good version of it.

Peyote and 'acid' were not only the purview of the swinging scenes of London and San Francisco. Bakersfield itself was no stranger to these exotic substances. Buck Owens was an occasional explorer of altered states of awareness.

Buck had many shortcomings, but that wasn't one of them. He was a teetotaler. It's been said that Don may have developed a love for Lucifer's Lawn Trimmings later in life. Looks like from this clip that the Hager's may have been his connection.

I don't know if anyone noticed this but I sure did the beautiful young lady that was singing it back up when they wanted to the chorus or the melody about Midway through the song you could see her from the sitting position on a bale of hay like get down closer to Don and buck and sing harmony in such a perfect pitch it was just it blew my mind that was when I think we really knew how to make really good music I guess I'm a perfectionist what can I say

@shleedca Buck worked perfectly with Don but he created his image and style before he met him and admittedly I think he felt deeply the loss of his partner and dear friend that he stopped entertaining on the big stage for most part of a decade but thank god Dwight and all Bucks fans got him back out on the Road.... I also though Don was the guitar boss of the Buckeroos but seeing Buck work closer I see that the man was a master guitarist and second to no one....
