this real country music i remember these days everything was good more than can say for now i keep going back and listening to all the old country music and always will
Susan was great ...The music that is being pushed to day would be in droped in the trash can back when country was country..They don't know how to write song's any more ..Thank's for helping real country stay alive
Buck Owens always sounds his best when he is singing harmony with another great singer, whether it's Don Rich or Bonnie Owens or Susan Raye. He had a God-given talent.
This was back when country music was real country music with filling that could touch the heart and soul, I was fortunate enough to have grown up listing to the greats of country music and as a musician myself I've grown older and unfortunately, I've watched my heroes pass on and I think of the song of the late great George Jones sang " Who's gonna fill their shoes".
What an absolutely beautiful duet of a wonderfully written song. Why, oh why did Nashville let this music slip away? Love the way Buck started on lead, then Susan took lead while Buck harmonized. Pure greatness. Great instrumentation as well.
I agree totally . I can't even stand listening to the music that they foolishly call "Country Music" , and I refuse to sing it . It's just heartless , and you CAN NOT have real country music without heart , and heart break . The expression used to be to "Keep it Country" , well now folks let's do our best to "Keep it CLASSIC Country" , and hopefully Nashville will wake up and follow .
Come on bring back COUNTRY MUSIC....the music now days is garbage..RIP Buck you are so very missed, glad i got to grow up with the old country music and the great stars of YESTERDAY
I love Merle haggard but I personally think buck's voice has the edge, with the way he hits the notes. And as for this Susan Raye who I've never heard of until I started downloading Buck's entire discography, she is literally better than any singer i hear about today. What does that tell ya.. I was born 80 years too late haha, least these legends have left their music for us all to turn to though
Buck was my childhood idol & life long hero. There never was a better vocalist or songwriter in country music history. Maybe we can pick & sing someday together in Heaven. I love you Buck!!!
Susan Raye is a distant relative of mine---her cousin married my dad's cousin---also this song was written by Merle Haggard and I knew a friend of his Tommy Collins and he was also a friend of Buck's. Tommy was actually the one who got Buck and Merle into the music business. As he used them for his guitar players in his band, before they got famous. Merle even wrote a tribute to Tommy who was at our house several times for dinners. The band my dad was in backed Tommy up when he performed her in my hometown
I'm 53 years old how the hell did I grow up without knowing these two were a duo and they are awesome they're great together I know he was with Don I forget his last name who died in a motorcycle crash God bless all these people soul because I love country music
So glad you shared this classic TV performance with Buck and Susan. I love the old TV appearances. I haven't heard this song. It is a very good one. Thanks for sharing. Stop be and visit.
Brother, I'm with you. Today's so-called Country Music has been taken-over by pop/rock musicians that couldn't make it in that venue, so they switched to Country to make a living. The songs by these saddle tramps extoll the virtues of illegal drug use and a wasted life that results. Buck Owens, Roy Clark, Johnny Cash, George Jones and others; it's what I listen to when I want country music.
