Some big chickens well done ladies good team work I remember I was a little like McKenzie when my parents introduced me to chicken butcher day lol's 😀 but you soon get over it. And club cadet that's awesome it has come along really good it's a credit to him I have a 2 till plough on my ride a bit different set as you are able to raise it up and down manually if I get time to set it up I'll try and send you a photo thanks for sharing another great video ❤

Your choosing your butcher words carefully, HA HA. When I was young it was a block of wood with two bent nails and a hatchet then a fast fling so you didn't get messed up. Your doing good.

Those chickens are the size of small turkeys. WOW ! That is too bad about the birds you lost. When we were first married my mother knew a farmer where we could get dual purpose birds. Well, I even asked for a dozen more. I had trouble eviscerating the birds. I even gagged. I could not eat chicken for a few months. 😮 My mother ended up canning them. We had our setup in the garage.

I lost 40 chickens to 2 large dogs 20 years ago. I know the frustration of raising all those birds only to see them killed by dogs. Yes the problem dogs were caught and the owners found. And yes here in Oregon. The law was very swift and unfortunatly deadly for the 2 rottweilers. We were not the only victims of these rouge dogs. Goats , a calf, many other farms were attacked over a few months by these dogs. Love the vids. God bless.

Very interesting content Rhonda!! Thank you for sharing!! I remember as a young boy my Grandmother would wring the necks off when she butcher chickens. I still remember them flapping around on the ground. A lot of memories from my childhood. She always had one milk cow. I liked to go with her at milking time. I got to help her mix the chop and water. When the chop sacks were empty she would make clothes out of them . Please be safe and God bless you all !!! Eddy

I don’t believe I’ve ever ever seen a narrow front end garden tractor We cut our triticale yesterday. I’d like to thank you Kevin and Rhonda for sharing your cover crop info. We planted about 100lbs/acre then after it was up 6000 gallons of manure on the frost. This spring I broadcasted 60 pounds of urea. Huge crop. Going to be a lot of tonnage. Thanks for helping me grow it.

Hi Ronda & Kevin, Fantastic video! Thank you for posting the "real'' haps out on the farm. FYI: l have a Cub Cadet w/ rototiller. Please believe me, it really works well. My Cub is a 1973 Hydrostatic drive 12 hp, the tiller is 40'' wide with the extra tines. IH's belt drive to the tiller looks sketchy but it works flawlessly. They are available. (not mine though) If you make your new raised beds w/ removable ends you could drive across it w/ the tiller to fit it. OK Fine Business, carry on and we'll see you next time. ben/ over in Hartland PS Do you have a fried chicken recipe? It's great cold on a hot day (today it's 88°F) as a picnic lunch say, if you meet up with the guys in the field.

I remember as a young girl going to my grandmothers house and when we drove in 3 fat chickens were hanging on the clothes line. She would butcher her oldest layers when company came thus always growing new layers. The things we remember from the good ole days. Do you butcher twice a year or once? I was thinking with the size of your family…mostly guys, that chicken isn’t gonna stretch all year is why I ask.

Wow! I can't believe the size of those birds. Looks like the makings for a family Memorial Day barbeque. Do you save the hearts, livers, and gizzards? When we butchered rabbits, we would save the organs and cook them up as treats for the dog. Our cicada hatch is going strong, but not like I remember the one in the early 70's. God's grace be with your family and farm, stay safe!
@acresofclayhomestead

Very interesting, it's too bad RU-vid doesn't allow you to show the actual butchering of your bird's and you know it's your fault that Kevin was too heavy for Eaton spring harrow, with the meal you showed all men in your family should be on the heavy side. Great video thanks for sharing.
