Hi Kurt. From a 30 year CAT tech. Please have the overhead run. And your thinking that a jake break uses more fuel. That's a myth. The ECM doesn't fire the injectors when the jake is activated. Fuel goes from the back of the head return to the tanks. You may have a brief puff of smoke when the jake is activated. But as long as the jake is active....the ECM will NOT fire the injectors. All fuel in the rail in the head is routed through the return to the tanks till you knock off the jake with the pedal...clutch ...brake application during cruise enabled...questions......ask me

I miss the early 80’s when we could pull that plug out the back of the mechanical pump on a Cummins and put a hard spring in there to open that Governor up. Seeing a Cabover GMC with a Shiney 290 sitting between two Big cattle trucks running 80 in a 55 between El Paso and San Antonio was a sight !

It’s always sad to think 🤔 of the great buildings and how they looked and what was in the shops. I hope it’s documented and glad it’s remembered. I was so sad about “Sheets in the Wind” crown 👑 I have all the bands that my dad had to wear to his chemo and proton therapy, made me sad and cry.. @@truckingwithschmidt7120 the owner went to jail for illegally dumping paint cans and a bunch of other miscellaneous hazmat garbage. They are also known for selling overpriced trucks. But I don’t know if there’s any lawsuits against him for that.
Kurt go to home depot or Lowe's and buy roll of aluminum bubble foil insulation. Cut that to size and fit in your windows on the inside.That will reflect the heat back. People in campers use it all the time.🎉
Schmidt you have great kids, Love the kids color pictures. I have an ice box covered in them myself (Granddaughter’s). There the coolest. If you ever have to change trucks You will miss that C-16. One improvement in Later Model Trucks to me are the disc brakes and air ride front axles have improved. Engine, I prefer the older mechanical Cats. My understanding the C-16 was way better than C-15. 3406B was my favorite though.
BTW Kurt, I do believe that the National Anthem is considered "public domain" and should not be subject to copyright violations. But IANAL and I'm certainly not a RU-vid screener.

If you got that truck from who and where I think. The guy got caught dumping old tires and debris all over his neighbors property to lower the value so he could buy the property for less. Yep he had some troubles
I checked Google if anyone owns the rights to The Star Spangled Banner. The results were.. Short answer: Nobody. Longer answer: The Star-Spangled Banner used the tune to 'To Acheron In Heaven', an English drinking song. The lyrics were written by Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812. The copyright protection would be long since lapsed, so nobody can own the copyright. Not even RU-vid can get mad over it.

Just FYI: you can make curtains for all the windows, you can get black out curtains at either WM, Dollar General, or Family Dollar, and you can get extra strength velcro at HD, or Lowes.
