I always play this for my lonely lill man. He belonged to my brother got injured a year ago as the others attacked him. He was going to kill him and my daughter said no she will get him back to health. His eyes were pecked out and he had splayed legs. 2 weeks she hand fed him and after a month of leg exercises he was a new lill man. When bought him a 2 females and within 2 mintues they attacked him so we separated him again. We gave the girls to my brother. He's been living in his condo on his own ever since. He seems fine and absolutely adores my daughter but regardless they're social creatures and we feel bad for him. I seriously think my brothers option would've been better for the poor man.
ok way to cute, I have my 2 in a cage right next to the computer while watching your video they hear your birds and start calling out to them. it was to adorable
I have 3 aswell right next to my desktop . The funny Think is thet don’t say anything through out the day, but when i hits Night time they start singing. I find disdurbing and har to sleep. They are cute and i don’t wanna get rid of them, but they are to noise any idears? Plsss help me i can’t sleep
Way too many in too small a space. Some missing feathers and most ruffled from stress. Get a much bigger encloser. Just because they are button quail doesn't mean you keep lots in a tiny space.
These were all born at home in an incubator, this was the last transitional brooder, before being released into a large aviary (check my other videos). They were still in the process of plumage change hence their look. They are still young and that is why they are able to cohabitate together. Once they are bigger, males in this space would be fighting with each other and not singing with each other
They are so cute! I am thinking about building an outdoor avary and putting 1 male and 3 female chineese painted quails in it with my parakeets. I can't find info anywhere if this is advisable. Do you know if they coinside with each other?

@DanDeeDee Thank you! I asked that because I've seen videos where they say their button is male and I didn't see masks. I got SO confused! I have buttons myself. They are 3 weeks old. The thing is, I can't tell their genders apart yet. When will I? They are assorted Chinese painted Quail. So will the males have those 'Darth Vader' bibs or the normal white and black ones? I'm a beginner and I'm learning with my adorable quail ^^ still in the brooder :D
So, the boys are making the sound when their necks go up....and the female is the one going "weep weep weep"? lol I have 2 making that noise and I'm hoping for a trio but since their whites I cant tell from color. These are my first buttons. Thanks!
you don't need special cartons to ship eggs. get that green foamy stuff for arranging flowers .. it depresses so you can put an egg in it .. place cotton or such over it. OR you get a regular egg carton (bet you have one!) put paper towel around each egg, tape, and cradle in each compartment of the egg carton. wrap carton, place in postal shipping box, mark 'LIVE EGGS' all over n dont ship when temps are cold at night. must arrive within 3 days for best luck (4 days from lay / quicker is better)
That deeper drawn out noise they are making kinda like a “squallll” what does that mean? You can hear it in the background behind the other quails noises that are more prominent
Can you help me with a question? My Chinese quail eggs hatched and now the chicks are full grown. I have about 5 males and 3 females. Can i keep all the males together like you have done, away from the girls, or will they fight. Years ago I had 2 males in my budgie aviary and, after living together a few months, one suddenly killed the other one!
They are still young and that is why they are able to cohabitate together. Once they are bigger, males in this space could be fighting with each other for dominance and for the females.
I have a "pair" of buttons and they both raise up the head and call like that. That means that they are both males?? The one is totally white with a yellow pick and bigger than the other so i thought it was a female...
My one and only female Chinese Painted Quail eats her eggs, sadly she lost her other female companion some weeks ago, should I get the male, her mate, another female to keep them both company?

In their case you would turn them upside down. If they have reddish brown feathers in the vent opening area, they are male. The white ones are the hardest ones to sex.
@@DanDeeDee thank you ,I have exact same one but they do coo in morning ..might be still young..at what age they start cooing...and how many females would I need to add in ratio to males..I have two males
@@anirbankittu if you are having a community 2:1 ratio females to males would be okay. You do not want more males than females. The amount of space is also a factor. The smaller the space the bigger the probability of conflict between males. In a community they are not prone to breeding. If you want to breed 1:1. Check my other videos. I had a pair (Dan & DeeDee) that raised many chicks and what a wonderful experience to witness these small little creatures raising their young. I made an enclosure from a plastic container, about the size of a file box. The trick is to give them privacy. I accomplished this by putting in an artificial plant. Another suggestion just FYI (if you don't already), teach your quail to drink out of a hanging water bottle (the kind that has the little down hanging tube, usually metal with a little ball bearing inside at the end. It's so much more convenient and cleaner for them.
