Buy One, Get One FOR CARS?!?!?!

Car dealers have pulled some crazy stunts in the past, but this one is beyond the pale: a Jeep dealer is having a "buy two, get $35k off" deal! And of course, they've snuck in a little surprise caveat! In other news, another unscrupulous Jeep dealer tries to sell a Grand Wagoneer Series III for $80k PLUS $4.5k in add-ons!
If we can help you with buying, selling, or protecting a vehicle, please let us.

Here in Quebec, it's illegal to change the advertised price... Some dealers almost lost their licences and paid hefty fines!!

Same in Ontario. And the advertised price must include all dealer fees, add-ons, discounts, etc. The only thing they can add to that price is the taxes and government fees.

The CRAZY thing is, if a dealer were to be transparent and honest, they would develop a following who buy from them just because they’re trustworthy.

This proves why they are in trouble - stupidity. Sales are down because they are asking premium car prices for Jeeps and furthermoe people can't afford them even if they were willing to pay the price. My wife thought they were "cute" until I told her what they cost.

And that's really a crying shame because I can remember and it wasn't that long ago that a fully loaded Jeep Wrangler was BELOW 40K! STELLANTIS AND DEALERSHIPS ARE ROBBING PEOPLE BLIND! Case in point, a dealership in the Miami area is asking for a USED 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4dr,4wd, 392 HEMI V-8, 5K miles, 37" tires for, (are you sitting down) $135,000!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY INSANE AND RIDICULOUS! THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!

"GO RAY GO!!". If the "dealer add-ons" are of such great benefit to the buyer, why not let the F&I guy/gal present those options at paperwork time? (Ceramic coating, nitrogen tire fills, extended warranties, "low cost lifetime maintenance", "loan life insurance" etc). The truth has to be that the MAJORITY of buyers don't WANT them because they are not of REAL VALUE. Anything good, sensible and beneficial for the buyer should be able to stand or fall ON IT'S OWN merits. Thanks guys.

Yep. I like Kohl’s. But when you pay for your merchandise, the cashier tells you how much you saved. I always tell her in return how much that I spent. My wife hates when I do that. But…….if Kohls can give me a ridiculous savings comment, I can tell them how much that I spent.
@greghale717
@greghale717 Месяц назад
Seriously, Kohl's, Belk, JCPenney, etc etc. WOULD NOT have any sales, PERIOD, if they didn't have 30-40% off every item, every "sale". Even with clearance @ 75% off, its still too freaking high!

I just bought a brand new motorcycle in June 2 hour drive out of state because this particular dealer advertises on their website the actual OTD price with no bs. My OTD below MSRP was a negligible difference due to my state sales tax and saved 2K with no fuss other than the drive. Imagine if regular auto dealers actually advertised their honest OTD.
@sazlefraz
@sazlefraz 2 месяца назад
The crazy thing about it dealerships would make more money selling cars if they sold at the advertised price. I knew a finance manager who legit was making a shit ton of sales because of one thing..... They advertised at msrp and when the buyer walked in it was at msrp and they just gave them a list of things they can add on to the car and the wildest thing on top of that they made money from the add ons because the customers were able to add whatever they wanted a la carte or just walk out with msrp doc fee and taxes instead of being forced to pay it.

Why would anyone pay $1,500 for windshield coverage? Most insurance companies include windshield coverage. In all my years of driving, over 50, I can recall two windshield replacements. A couple of years ago the windshield on my Audi Q7 was replaced. The cost as $1,200 of which I paid $100. So for that $1,500 paid to the dealer it would take 2 replacement windshields a year to just recover the amount paid. This is one bigly bad dealer.

Thanks for the great vids, guys. after watching your vids for over a month I got the Jeep I wanted. (2024 Jeep Willys "anvil" color) It felt so good to be armed with the knowledge of "OTD." I called multiple dealerships in my area of the country and everyone was stuck at 55k out the door. I found 2 who I went back and forth with, and ended up with 53k OTD, 6.9 rate from my credit union (which they couldn't come close to), and 19k for my used 2018 Jeep with 112k miles (more than I thought I would get) I spent no time in the dealership haggling, I just showed up and was done in less than 20 minutes. Love u guys, you're doing the lord's work bc we all know salesmen are the DEBIL!! ;)

My favorite thing to just blast car salesman on when im in the middle of a negotiation is when i see a "reconditioning fee" as an additional line item cost on top of the advertised price. I chuckle and tell the salesman well were removing that and any other additional fees BEFORE we even get to the negotiation of the price itself. You wanna build those costs into the cost of the vehicle, fine. But you damn sure arent going to pass that on as a separate line item to the customer. I feel bad for the people who either dont know better or hate confrontation and just accept those fees as a part of the purchase. Crooks

I'm thinking no more than $15,000 top's. After she went over all the add on's and fees, it was $16,675! I offered $15,000 but they looked at me like i was stealing their lunch. There really is no hope for the US auto dealers. Pay the price of a small home and get a measly 35k off? They really do live in their own world. 1st off most people can't afford to buy ONE of these cars and they really expect people to buy 2? With fees, tax and insurance the cost would be insane. Their inventories are maxed out and they just cannot sell them off, yet they do this kind of BS.
