Bruh im so fucking pissed about my precious Sentra SERs, they were like my little secret, I've owned 3, currently own an sr20ve swapped b13, but now everything is so fucking expensive, legit all thanks to donut doing that video. Take me back
I’ve got an 06 ion redline, doesn’t have the LNF and turbo like the 08 cobalt does, but it’s still a blast to drive with the supercharged lsj and I got it dirt cheap at $1400 😊
Unless you're running a buisiness that requires a car or several vehicles, (they're making their money back) they're a horrible investment. Unless you're smart.

I love Donut Media but The people watching these videos *mostly* aren’t the people currently in the market for these cars. These cars gain some value over time by themselves, but they will still almost always be cheaper to buy than a new car😂
The Cobalt SS Turbo he mentions at 8:02 also has some pedigree as it was once the fastest FWD production car in the world. It recorded a time of 8:22.85 at the Nurbugring and topped other tracks as well.
The Gaming Cephalos I miss that about racing games. You’d get a first car and you’d be stuck with it for a while. Now In racing games you wind up with 50 cars in your garage after a few minutes of playing, that’s what quick race mode is for.
I got to tell you that it is not far to happen. Early 2000s GM SUVs and Pickup trucks with low miles or well maintained are increasing in value drastically. I keep searching for a low miles 2001/2002 Suburban and I cannot find it. Same applies for the Escalade ESV of this generation (2003-2006). When maybe something is near what I am looking for is already close to 15K or so. Early 2000s Caddys Escalades, Suburbans, Tahoes, Silverados, Avalanches and Trailblazers might skyrocketing in value for the next 5 years.

Fun fact, mitsubishi pajeros are renamed in Chile as the "Montero", because pajero means wanker in chile. Pretty surreal to cross the border into argentina and see a car model named "wanker"
The Lexus GX is built on the same platform as the Toyota 4Runner. The Lexus LX is the Toyota Land Cruiser. Both highly off-road capable, but at different price points.
Vincent Castor SS and G8’s with manuals are already pricey from what I’ve seen, I think the 04-06 GTO which aren’t that expensive right now are have more potential to increase in value relative to where they are now

Honda CRZ... name another cheap “sporty” hybrid with a manual option and a button on the steering wheel to boost your car with the electric assist... as hybrids become more prevalent and hybrid sports cars trickle down, the CRZ will begin to seem way ahead of its time
The 4th gen Acura TL Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive with 6 speed manual transmission is very hard to find, and its a good catch for a newer manual car with 305 horsepower.

From my experience, I've had more head gasket issues with the turbo EJ25s The most bulletproof EJ you can get is by far the EJ22, though the American market never got the turbo 2.2 L. I had a 99 Impreza OBS that I put thousands of miles on with the crank pulley super glued to the crank shaft. I abused that baby and she still ran. Takes whatever oil you want to put in there too.
Cool car, terrible build quality. Awesome when it's right, frustrating when it's not. There won't be many left by the time they would ever be worth anything. I honestly can't believe they included it lol.
Let me be one to say that I and someone I knew had Cobalts (I was the one with the stock N/A) and both ended up in the junkyard. Mines didn't even go past 110K.
@@MJ_868 The _start stop_ effect of city driving is much more demanding on the engine. Lower speed means more heat staying in the engine bay, and the constantly changing RPM's wear on the internals more, consume more fluids, and are sucking in more particles from dirty in-town streets. Out on the highway there's much better airflow meaning it's easier for the radiator to do it's job of keeping it cool under the hood. Also, the usually consistent RPM's mean better fuel efficiency and less wear and tear on the engine overall.
@@TheFishE77Official not to mention that city driving fails to warm up them big-ass range rovers during a short start-stop commute putting the engine oil through hell. In city cars clutches, the whole powertrain all the gears get a pretty horrible treatment especially when running cold. The incomplete heat cycles contribute to crappy combustion and soot buildup in particle filters over time mainly in diesels but direct injected petrols are just as prone to that. If exhaust gets restricted too much it can cause a whole cascading failure murdering gaskets, turbochargers, crank-case-ventilation systems all the while the engine is struggling against excessive exhaust pressure. Yes city-only cars should be picked very carefully. Small boring naturally aspirated lightweight engines in small cars and electric cars are more fit. Large engines, chassis and turbochargers are not a good idea in a city-car.
Lucky.... i have a Dodge Stealth r/t and most of the time people come up to me to tell me they have never seen my car ever before lol sometimes i wish i had the 3000gt model being more popular than the Stealth models but ill take being a little bit more lightweight than the looks 😂
The Dodge stealths are more unreliable than the 3000gts but you can't push them or they'll brake but I do believe that they look the best compared to the 3000gt it looks more like a Ferrari minus the ugly rear spoiler
"Never buy cars to make money, they are terrible investment" *Laughs in Turkish* Only country in the world where the same brand new car is cheaper than the second-hand almost new car.
It is a temporary situation. Because recently turkish lira lost value and buying power has been decreased. Sales had decreased. So dealers stop bringing new models. And few models are bought by second dealers who had money enough. And now if you go a dealer ask a new car, they are already purchased by these second hand dealers. They are selling more expensive the brand new cars, because you cannot find the model you want at dealers.
Still, cars in Turkey hold their value extremely well compared to any other country in the world, even with inflation/buying power adjusted. Moreover, cars are getting more and more expensive almost every 2-3 months for around 2-2.5 years. But the used car prices passing the brand new listing prices is a new thing. By the way, it has nothing to do with spare parts etc. There already is warranty on new cars, as long as you don't crash without insurance, you don't have to worry about it that much, and probably no one drives a new car without insurance. Imagine paying over 200k USD in US for the most boring cars in the world (stupid diesel hatchbacks or white bland Corolla or something) and not getting insurance.
Before you consider the MSP/MP3 as a decent investment, consider the 323 GTX and the investment track it has taken. Despite having Group A rally racing pedigree, a host of RU-vid videos and news articles written about it, you can still get them for around the price you would pay for a MSP (well under $10k) and it's over a decade newer. There might be sub 20k mile collector market examples of each out there, but for the rest, don't buy one unless you want to drive and maintain it, and don't expect to flip it for a profit in 10 years. The MSM might fair better long term but they were sold in higher volume and the turbo was really just a hold over until the new motor was available. In general, any vehicle that is "affordable" when new or at the moment will never be a good investment long term. Sure, a 240z just sold for crazy money, but you need to basically find a low mile car and shrink wrap and store it for 50 years to see that kind of return...and you'll make more putting that money in the stock market where a barn collapse won't damage your investment.
It's probably worth mentioning that the GM delta platform is a moving death trap if the recall maintenance hasn't been done. I used to own the ion and sometimes it would randomly shut off while driving until I had GM replace the lock cylinder bring it to your nearest dealer and make sure it's been fixed if you decide to buy a G5/ion/cobalt.
Alfredo Ladino true. But engine is destroyed faster. The lack if decent speed means all that hot air is trapped, which is bad for the plastics in the engine bay. The constant braking and accelerating will wear out the powertrain faster. Accelerating requires more energy than, say, a steady cruise at 50mph. The sudden changes in energy requirements for all related components in the car speeds up the deterioration process, compared to it doing a constant velocity (highway cruising). Basically, u try alternating between sprinting and walking every 30sec n compare that to steady jog. The fatigue should set in much faster.
@David Butler doesn't matter who makes the vehicle, accelerated wear is accelerated wear. Stop and go traffic is more wear and tear than freeway miles.
I've seen a very, very clean TC selling for $1500 Canadian, it was mint. At best most people think they're laughable and will probably always be the cheapest Maserati.
I have a small hunch that it might. As the kids who grew up watching people like hoovie and being interested in stuff like lemons racing get money, they might have a love for kinda funny that it even exists-piece of crap cars, and buy them when they can afford to
Cars I think could go up in value: Audi R8 V8 Manual VW Golf R32 Manual, both MK4 and MK5. Ford Focus RS 2nd Generation BMW M4 F80 Manual What else do you guys think?
He was talking about the BMW m3.... Maybe I'm wrong about this but one of my favorite cars.... The BMW 135i Doesn't it's alternate the 128i have a manual & a straight 6?
I can attest to some future classic appreciation: Alfa Romeo and other Italian cars. Imported ones. They are going up in value, especially if you get one of the limited editions. My 1997 Alfa 155 2.5 V6 Zender Ltd. was imported from Japan (still LHD) for $13k CAD in 2012. It is now worth $30k CAD according to Hagerty. Its value will continue to rise because of its condition, it is extremely rare, and its racing heritage. Other Picks? Alfa GTV V6 (916) - 100% future classic. Any Alfa GTA car with the 3.2 Busso. Maserati 3200GT/4200. Maserati Quattroporte (with the automatic). Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo. Buy those now, before they become expensive.
when i bought my xj i was looking for a manual but it was impossible to find one in my area that wasn’t fully rusted out or beaten to hell for under 7.5k. i managed to track down and buy an automatic high mileage slightly beat up one for $1k which is still absurdly cheap for a running xj. planning on as much of a restoration as i can and just keeping her stock, who knows maybe i can retire off her one day lol
ONLY THE N/A SUBARU EJ MOTORS HAVE HEAD GASKET ISSUES! The n/a's had organic head gaskets while ALL of Subaru's turbo models used metal head gaskets that give no more issues than any other turbocharged car. If you by an n/a, install some MLS headgaskets and you're good to go for the life of the car.
True, but bad Maintenance is the cause of lot's HG issues , mine went in my H6 Outback, but i did buy it with no service history Available, i took the risk and got 4 years out of it before the HG failed.
@@bradleyjones5932 ... Any organic headgaskets that constantly have coolant and oil sitting on them are prone to fail. The only H6 Subaru I've ever had was my '92 SVX. I can't say for sure, but I don't think they used organic headgaskets on their EG and EZ motors.
@@renaldolamar it's pretty bad ass. How you can find one. I test drove a an automatic ss and didn't like it even though they offered the 20 percent off. I chose to order mine. It was definitely worth it.

My additions: The 2005-2010 Mustang GT. They wanted to make the Mustang look awesome again, and they did with spectacular results. Especially if you can get the GT500 edition. The Cadillac XLR. It's a C6 Corvette with a sleek, and sexy Cadillac bod. It also features a powered, hardtop convertible roof. Most importantly: It's rare; in it's 8 year production they made less than 2,000 a year on average. The only downside is it's 4.6 Northstar V8, but considering it's a Corvette underneath. You could slap any LS under with zero difficulty.
As a prior cobalt owner. Dont buy one. They're really not made that well. Sure they can make power and they're cheap, but I dont think that's a good thing.
My pick for a future classic: a HSV GTO, GTS or W1. Holden will disappear at the end of next year, so if you ever thought about owning a HSV or even a Commodore SS, now's the time to get them.

Maybe it’s just where I am in Cali but on the FB Marketplace I regularly see those cars with 140k on the ODO and the seller wanting anywhere from 3 to 6 grand for it. I’m glad I bought my 04 Town Car when I did. Side point I could see Nolan ripping it in a modified p71.

Just because a certain car brand is discontinued doesn't always mean its going to go up in value. People 70k for a 2016 LSA R8 Clubsport and its no where worth that amount
Spark Destroyer that’s true, can’t fix stupid. I’m not saying immediately they will go up. But in time like most cars I guess, they will go up in price, some models will rise in price quicker. It won’t be long until HSV goes down the same path so I just say both of them have stopped.
