I can't stand it when sellers on eBay lie. However, Razor Emporium does phenomenal work!

I've bought two Fatboys recently. One came in great condition from the Bonanza marketplace, and cost me around CAD $80/$60 USD, and the second was CAD $50. The prices reflected the cleanliness, and I had to do some cleaning, polishing and sanitizing, but both razors are functionally perfect and cleaned up a treat. Looking forward to seeing the New Improved Razor Emporium tuned-up Fatboy.

This happen to me yesterday, but, i know how to repair them myself, i but alot of razors and bought several slims that was bent, but your right about getting burned, anything you buy off of ebay expect to get burned sometimes, understand this rule, it wont sting so bad when you get one with bent guards

I got a fat boy that was bent up, but was able to straighten it out fine. Got lucky on that one. Good luck with your purchase.

Maybe thats the new slant bar FatBoy - dang that sucks it arrived damaged. those guys over at Razor Emporium do some amazing work by the looks of it. Lol and I thought my Slim that I just got was bent! One of the safety bars is just sliiiightly closer to the blade on its left side vs the right side of the same bar. I didn't notice anything in pictures(which were highest quality I found on ebay, excellent seller even had a video showing it off). I paid $70 for a polished and shave ready J4 Slim, and being 2024 I don't think that's too bad. Most of the others I saw are around $50 and look quite beat up with highly visible corrosion.

Razor Emporium does an excellent job. I know you'll be satisfied.

It's a rare Gillette Fatboy Slant Bar Razor. j/k.... good that it was able to be restored. Razor Emporium does great work on these vintage Gillette razors.

Great point! That’s why I like to stick to buying razors from guys in the shave groups on Facebook..... 99.9999999% of the time you are getting a razor that you know will be on working condition. You might pay a bit more. But if its good to go from the get go then you don’t need to send it out for repair and revamp which would eat up the savings from buying a “good deal” on the ole eBay. Fingers crossed it’s all fixable for you.

Caveat emptor indeed. But the adjustment mechanism is intact and that’s the tricky part. Matt will get it squared away and it’ll be ready for another 60 years. BTW, I understand that not cleaning Grandpa Grungy is something of a point of pride with you but, dude, scrub down that nasty thing! When you catch a nick and immediately apply pressure with a finger that was just holding that handle...😱 Hopefully, when you get back the new fatboy from Razor Emporium and see how great it looks you’ll send Grandpa in for a tuneup. I just bought a Fatboy the other day at an antique store. One side of the head it's slightly higher than the other. I wonder if razor emporium can fix it? Anyone have an idea?

As a general rule I don't buy anything if the pic is not detailed, blurry or no pic at all.

I got an adjustable 84mm with the clicker broken (otherwise is nice) BUT to fix that is $$$. So now I can spin it 3x360 and never know what setting it is. Got another, a British Rocket and doors did not open OK-- this one I sent in for fixing for more than I paid. And finally, got a fat boy...it worked well unlike yours but the finish was 50% gone.....sent it for refinish $$. Now it looks very nice..... Waiting for more E...y deliveries...hope I don't get $h!Ty items.....not to mention USPS has had two for 2 weeks....in limbo..no one knows where they are

I got taken on a Fat Boy too in the past. The pin n the middle was busted.

Nice, you can get a refund if you open a case on ebay. I did on one razor and got to keep the razor also. But it will be in much better condition after the revamp. 😁👍

Well if it happen here in Europe, in wich store we could fix it? Anyone knows? That's the danger to buy used stuff online, there're a lot of dishonest ppl who do not mind fooling others and then we have to spend more $$$ unfortunately.

There's no such thing as "New Vintage" either it's "New" from old stock and never having been used, or it's used. There's also no such thing as "Limited Edition" - the Fatboy which you have was made by the hundreds of thousands. Only item that might be considered "Limited Edition" were the gold plated Fatboys, Red Dot Fatboys and Aristocrats - yours is neither. I would be careful at buying from eBay unless there are clear pictures of the razor from most angles like the head, sides, underside (showing a date stamp) and handle. That razor he bought, if there had been good pictures would have shown the damaged head and guard, I recently bought one where the guard was ever-so slightly bent, I wasn't pleased with this but opted not to return it and instead use this as an opportunity to try out Razor Emporiums "Tuneup" service - I was highly pleased with their work and high level of Customer Service. Top marks to Matt and the crew at Razor Emporium! These Gillette razors can be anywhere from 30-50 years old...a perfect example will command a high price, some sellers want high-dollar for poor examples - do some research before you buy.

Why one would pay more then 50 bucks go for Rockwell6C for that amount of money and have a great shave and it's clean and new guys come on

I wouldn't pay more then 50 buck for any antique piece of de razor if I have to pay over 50 I rather be go with any other modern de razor which is brand new
