as a person with cerebral palsy, and limited dexterity in both hands. I've always wanted to try a safety razor, but I believe id need a very mild one, and one that would not require much of angle. What would you suggest?
Actually, I’d try the single edged Twig or Thorn razor from Leaf Shave. Super easy to use and you don’t have to think about angle! It uses a safety razor blade that’s snapped in two, or they sell them already snapped.
Here because of the algorithm. What I’ve found is that preparation before the shave makes the most difference i.e. using a brush and for me personally face lathering. I get great shaves with the two blade Gillette or other disposables, three blades or more just gives me irritation. Also I find that the affordable soaps and creams like Proraso, Arko, Nivea and Palmolive give just as good results as the more expensive stuff and these four are all I use these days. I’m totally over my compulsive shave gear buying fase.
For a start you can find the electric blades for cheaper and you dont have to change them as often as they say. It doesnt cut quite as close but its pretty good.
Thanks for the towel tip when tightening your razor. You showed that many many videos ago and I’ve been doing that ever since. No blood, no slips, no cuts, awesome. BTW, we twisted in the early 60’s. Great video
Just bought myself a Gillet King C, a variety of Proraso shave products and a few other goodies. Think you could revisit the King C? been binging your videos since I've stumbled into the world of safety razors. Cheers from Canada.
We in India know how rubbish pearl products are and how horrendous their customer service is!! If it was up to us here, we would push for a pearl boycott! They really are that bad!
SL, I know you were not impressed with the RexAmbassador, but I’m going to share my experience with you & your audience anyway. When I bought a Rex Ambassador about three years ago I initially was not impressed either. But after letting it sit on the shelf all this time, I recently decided to make a proper effort with this $300 razor. I’ve now been shaving with it exclusively for about three months and wow, has it ever grown on me. I’m greatly enjoying how quick and easy it provides a seriously close shave. I’ve found it to be a very aggressive design and my results improved when I backed it down to “2” with new blades, then turned it up to “3” after blades get a few uses. The Rex has become my go-to razor and I actually prefer it to my old favorite, the Rockwell 6s. Never thought I’d say that!
Yeah we’re in a heat wave here in NY. Probably nothing like you are used to. I can’t stand it. Went out yesterday just to wrap up an extension cord and in 3 minutes my white shirt looked like I just wore it in a shower. Have a great weekend. Always enjoy your stuff.
Hi Sinatra. Yeah Markus and Sarah Vincent are two of a kind. Like them a lot. Funny and agreable persons and very honest in reviews. Seems that new soap you tried is very good and for 5 bucks it surelly deserves a try. Take care man👍.
You are the most honest reviewer on RU-vid. You are never uppity, and always try to find positives (or hope for improvement.) I'm two years older than you are... Life is too short.. Trying to find positives in people and things is so much more healthier than moaning about everything. I would say, without any knowledge of demographics (simply being around here...) Most people realize that that just because ONE particular razor reviewed was was liked - it does NOT mean that ALL razor from a manufacturer are the same.. I'm not even talking how aggressive it is, or how it should be used, or how it feels - simply, manufacturing quality. To me, Rockwell 6c and 6s shaves the same. I bough the 6s for my son's 18th. I got myself the 6c... Tried my son's 6s - perhaps psychological but it "felt" like a treat just holding it.. Of course, I ended up getting a 6s... and lost it on a trip - left it in the hotel room. Never got it back. So, back to 6c? No, I can't even look at it because I'm to angry with myself. I can't justify another purchase of a 6s right now, I have to get the youngest out of college and university -- perhaps he'll buy me one with his first monster paycheck? 😉 To sum up my ramblings: reviews are perceptions on so many levels. However, I DO NOT think anyone truly believes that all products from the same manufacturer are all the same.
Just ordered a Flexi V12. I have the open comb. Too aggressive but I get a BBS every shave. Have to be extremely cautious though for me. Haven't tried a Feather blade in it. Don't think I need it.
Barbasol would irritate my skin probably. Usually cheap shave gels do. I use the Gillette labs gel it’s much better but if I was to try barbasol id probably wanna try the pacific rush variation. I need a razor that won’t knick me much. And a mild blade to start with. I still try to use a shave mug and brush with my cartridge razor. I wanna try the van der Hagen but I also wanna get the best possible one that’s closest to a cartridge as possible. I would definitely pay more for comfort when it comes to DE shaving personally. That cremo aftershave looks tight!
