If you're a dog owner dedicated to humane, force-free training - WONDERFUL! Unfortunately, not all so-called force-free / R+ / positive reinforcement trainers out there are what they seem: Some are what I call "FAKE force-free trainers", as they advocate for aversive methods "in some cases". Cases outside of immediate emergency situations.
Ask yourselves: What will such trainers do if they can't get your dog to comply with, say, a harness, or flat collar, treats, and perhaps the odd verbal correction alone? Will they escalate the "hierarchy of corrections" to choke collars, shock collars, or prong collars?
PLEASE do your due diligence, ask plenty of questions, and ask to see the code of ethics of each dog training facility, service, or individual trainer/behaviorist you entrust with your canine companion! There are far too many black sheep out there eager to make money from trusting pet guardians - under the guise of force-free training, these people might subject your dog to harsh corrections on choke-, shock- or prong collars.
