Buying a $9,000 COMIC BOOK at New York Comic Con 2019 

Saw the same book sell for 37.5K this year....Times have changed so quickly in the comic book market lol

A 5.0 with off-white pages sold on heritage for $9,000 in July, so I'd say the buyer did ok.

Congrats. Key books like that never lose value. AF 15, Avengers 1, ASM 1, Fantastic Four 1etc...That’s a better investment than the stock market. And by the way I think he did get a discount for cash because GPA shows one sold in June for 10,000 at that condition.

I already knew that people spent a ton of money on golden and silver age comics, though I definitely wouldn't have $9000 just lying around to buy one like that. But for those who do, more power to them. I still find it kind of hard to believe that there are that many people spending $500 for out-of-print omnibuses, though. That seems a little ridiculous to me.

This kind of purchases isn't for everyone, you have to have the cash in order to do something like that. We think about how crazy it is to "throw away" that kind of money on a comic book, but for those who are wealthy enough, they don't think about it. $9000 for them is $90, maybe even $9!!

HOLY MUTANT MILESTONES BATMAN! Hitting local cons w/ 200 bucks makes me nervous 😬. Let alone having 💵 9k 💵. But it takes guts (and cheddar) to make that kind of investment. Besides, early X-Men books have always held their value. Speaking of "investments"...If a CGC 9 (or 9.2) Giant-Size X-Men #1 were available for 3k (or a tad less), I'd strongly consider it. Plus, the buyer & seller allowing GMC to record the transaction was rather cool. Thanks for sharing 👍

Jeez. I thought the $200 in books I bought was much. Well I did spend like a G in Funkos and other stuff but if your goal is to get a specific book then you’ll do what ever it takes to do it. I lost my 80s and 90s collection in 97 and spent like 3 years going to NYCC getting them all back. Still missing the Infinity Gauntlet collection.
