Buying an IHI mini dumper that had a boom lift installed in the bed. And first time operating it doing a quick tree job. B quality video cleaning up some fire wood next day: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i03ybFA3r9I.html
I've been in Construction for a little over 45 years and i've never seen a piece of equipment like that. That thing is just plain cool Andrew, i hope you enjoy and make some good money with it. I Decided to retire when my wife passed away last Monday night and sell my tools and equipment and donate the hundreds of hand tools to the local trade school to help the younger generation get a good start in the trades. I've enjoyed your videos very much and they offered me a wonderful escape from the rigors of caring for my wife night and day for the last few months. She is at Peace now and so am i. I'll be selling our home here in Maine and moving down South to Virginia to live near my daughter. Thank you for the videos, i've enjoyed them very much and will continue too. Know this Andrew, your videos are high quality and touch peoples lives in a fun and good way and that shows you are good people. So give the old man Levi and the young buck Cody and the rest of the cool pups a hug for me and i'll be looking forward to the next video. And for all those people that give these videos a down thumb vote, you need to lighten up and cut him and yourself some slack. Andrew is a go getter and a hard working enterprising man and he is quite unique in this day and age. Stop being so petty and critical and look at yourself before you find petty fault with his videos. It's his life, his videos and content. If you think you can doing better then please, go away and do so. He earned those up votes and the content for the videos cost him thousands of dollars and many hours out of his life to make something nice for EVERYONE to enjoy. Peace to all and enjoy life...it's shorter than you think. Tom Cooke
I'm going through cancer now and it's overwhelming some days. Your wife is not suffering anymore and gone home. Peace be with you. I give my condolences to you and your family for your lose. Don't give up! The pain will subside in time. You sound like a good man!
be wary of the bucket, plenty of people get flicked out of them unexpectedly. A harness is cheap. Thanks for yet another great video Andrew, I may have watched them all. 10/10.
@@GodzHammer : All the buckets I’ve seen (not very many) are completely enclosed and force the operator to crawl into it from the top. With that setup you could step through and fall out. Must not happen too often though.
I heard my husband telling that story to his brother that he doesn’t talk to very often. Now every time Andrew has a new machine, his brother calls. Go figure.....
Yeah, I was half dosing off in the chair when I heard the chainsaw startup. Better pay attention now, priceless when he hits his new machine & he straitens it out with a tractor pulling a chain. I'm sorry Andrew but I'm glad your not my mechanic.
You should test the max. Load its capable under max boom reach, i lost my son last month because he didnt do that.... the whole thing tipped over because the lift was installed later on onto the vehicle, very much like yours
That’s horrible, very sorry for your loss. That was the first thing so did when I bought my bucket truck. I also bought a harness because I’ve seen people get flipped out of buckets before.
lol, exactly what i was thinking... "hey levi, what do you think of the new guy?" "i think dad dropped a tree on him already, so he's gonna fit right in..." love the videos Andrew
@@MJ-vv2fr RU-vid is all about entertainment and whatever entertains sells ads. You'd be foolish to think that the entertainment that Andrew sets up doesn't pay off in spades. The views from this video alone probably paid for this machine outright. I don't see anywhere, in the hundreds of videos I've watched thus far, where Andrew has put anyone in danger.
You never want anything "Nice" around a tree if you can help it, especially if you are a one man band. Sometimes you can't help it. In this case he could have helped it.
you're not psychic trust me I thought the same thing I also thought at the end why is he jumping up and down trying to reach a limb in the tree when he literally just bought a boom truck...? 😆
I love how you edit IN your screw ups and show us how to fix them "no big deal" style. Just honest and practical. Keep doing the best videos on youtube man
AC: buys a new bucket truck also AC: yes, the best way to get this tree branch that's too high for me to reach is to throw things at it from the ground
Just a few of words of advice because I hope to see you around for quite a while still: 1) Always wear a helmet or better yet a helmet/faceshield combo when cutting trees, 2) Always use a safety harness that's properly tied off when you're in a bucket and, 3) Limbing trees is a whole different ballgame than toppling them over with dozer or excavator - you'll get seriously hurt or worse if you don't get proper training first. Glad that tree didn't do too much damage.
I was thinking the biggest pine tree in the middle of a forest near there is going to end up with solar powered lights on next Christmas, Then somebody's going to say to the next person how did that happen ? The reply Oh Andrew Camarata's been out playing in the woods with his new toys again, by the looks of it L.O.L
We have one we use for putting up shooting houses and stuff id recommend swapping to H style outriggers with a bigger foot plate soft ground you will lay it over awesome video brother
yeah my first thought when I saw the angle of those outriggers was "well...those are useless anywhere but solid ground". They barely extend past the edge of the tracks
@@artemartem1134 Assuming the base is heavy enough for the rating of the boom, those outriggers are fine. They are there to take the suspension movement out of play. He does need to use some sort of pad under them though, even on paved ground, you shouldn't ever trust there isn't a void or the "paving" is thick enough. Plus it will scar up the paving.
Talk about a neat find!!! I love when the rope broke & he says “ snapped right off” & continues to use it. When the tree fell on his boom & he says that wasn’t supposed to happen. Hello to Cody & Levi
You're a smart, articulate young man, there is no doubt about that. As you see, trees have a mind of their own and will kill even the best of 'em. Please be careful.
I had a 130hp Cummins offroad lift bucket with dump and crane back in '69. Had 3 tracks. 99ft working height. Dropped a 20k oak tree on it. Didn't even notice. Still have it today. Runs better than ever
I have suffered from PTSD for years and these two Dogs and Andrew lift my spirits and put a smile no matter what i am feeling. My own dog that we had for 15 years snapped me out of some very Dark times, sadly we lost her last year. These two and about twelve others on RU-vid make my day. Cody and Levi and of course let’s not forget Sadie are close to the best on RU-vid. Thanks Andrew for including them in all the Videos you make this OM is very happy !
Andrew, love your new machine! But one simple word of advice from someone whose operated bucket trucks for many years professionally... back up to the tree as it is set up with a rear mounted bucket for more reach from the rear and to keep the tracked “truck” part of machine away from falling limbs/logs that can and will damage it. I’d love to have a machine like that, nice find!
Andrew, your channel is getting more and more interesting as time goes by. Thanks for putting out such great, unfiltered content. Taking the time to hit the record button when you ain’t got to, but you teach so many young and old men to not be afraid to get the hands dirty. Bless you sir.
I love that you are so calm and cool in any adversity.... That is a valuable commodity in any situation. You are also a lot stronger than you look, chucking that log with ease!
i laughed the first time when he threw the log, then when i rewound it to watch it again i was like "waymint, he just threw that like it was a stuffie"
I'm 75 OY now and you remind me so much of myself when I was your age, one voice in my head would say, I should move that crawler the tree might fall on it, but then another other voice said Nah, you have this thing in total control no need to waste time moving that crawler lets get going. I knew the tree was going to fall on the crawler and I never saw this video before and then you would have to take the time to make the repairs and many times put off till later. At my age now I've only recently started listening to 2nd voice, and not the easier 1st voice, but believe me it's hard to do, but in the end, it also works out to be much better and easier!
As I have commented before, your videos are always interesting and informative. You are a MacGyver in true fashion and is never worried to tackle a situation. Today's video says a lot about you in the fact you don't cover up" your errors. See ya soon!
Andrew, hard hat, safety glasses and harness dude. Some blocks for extra stability under the outriggers. Also rope is fine, just not twisted. Double braided nylon will last basically forever if properly taken care of. Great channel man!
Love these videos, So many haters comment on other channels saying Andrew buys junk. More like recycling equipment and fully servicing it and actually being an environmentalist buy not buy new equipment and reducing the carbon footprint. I'm no tree hugger but admire Andrew's ethos and values
I’ve never told anyone how to do anything on RU-vid but when I rent a tow behind lift I set up as far away from the tree to still reach the tree and also use my brush cutter with chainsaw attached, be careful Andrew don’t want to get a tree on you, thank you for your videos.
@@pcb1962 That's because there is no "accident report" when the thing starts to fail, and you jump out of the bucket onto the roof near you--- or you jump into the tree that you're trimming and watch that thing tip over while you're hanging safely in the tree. Nothing gets reported, but these things happen in slow motion, and more often than someone getting hurt. I've witnessed this myself, with a trailer bucket. The thing blew a seal or something and just started to fall toward the ground, and my brother bailed out of the bucket onto our roof, since we were right next to the house, and that bucket fell all the way down and slamed into the tailgate of my truck. Nothing was reported, I just took it back and demanded a refund. If he would have been strapped in, it would have been ugly. That thing hit in a full free fall, and smashed half way through my tailgate. Just saying, in my experience-- I wouldn't want to be strapped in. I'm a tree climber, I ran my own crew for years--- I'd much rather be on a rope in the tree than in a bucket anyway.
@@calholli Anecdote isn't the singular of data. There are countless incident reports that support wearing a harness in bucket trucks, elevated platforms and the like.
Assuming proper maintenance, boom failures that would make bailing out a good option exceedingly rare. What will get you is the object you are working on, installing, removing, modifying will fall or move in such a way that will eject you from the bucket at height.
I had two giant oak trees cut and the truck they used left huge ruts in my lawn I had to work to get somewhat out. Your machine won't leave ruts. You have yourself a perfect tree trimming/cutting machine.
I have a similar life in Japan. I manage large gardens and forests using Yanmar's Yumbo, crawler trucks, timber trucks, and many other forest management equipment such as STIHL. It's not forestry. I manage the mountains and large houses left by my ancestors. Although I am old, I am also restoring cars and motorcycles, and maintaining the machinery I mentioned earlier, so your video is very helpful. I really liked the crawler boom lift in this video and looked for it, but in Japan I can't find the boom lift on a carrier like IHI. Even if there is a Bnnm lift dedicated car, the arm is short or too large. This boom lift is just right.
A bit of advice Andrew never work one of these when on your own imagine if you are up in the bucket working away and the engine cuts out you are then stuck there with no way of getting down there should be an emergency valve down where the turn table is than you can release the pressure and lower the top boom down allowing the person in the bucket to be lowered to safety
I've actually had that happen to me once with a big roto telehandler... I was in the basket and for some odd reason the thing went into tipping protection blocking all the controls. Luckily I had my phone to call a friend which drove over to activate the override in the cab and get me down... Modern technology can be curse and blessing at the same time
Finally the one piece of equipment I know how to operate. Lol Always setup your bucket truck about a car length or a little more away from the tree or pole you’re working on and put a cab-cage on that thing. Pretty cool little bucket vehicle. I’ve never seen one quite like it.
That thing is sweet! For sure a cool tool to have, the Isuzu diesel is a good one, buddy had one in a older skid loader and that thing always worked and made good power. Of course, it being an IHI, it'll last a long time and won't break!
Isuzu engines are serious. Have one in our Ex 120 dash 5 with over 33k hrs. Engine never touched. Very hungry for diesel tho. Old Isuzu engines making big money for export to middle eastern country’s
Imagine if He actually took care of His stuff. That's a sign of youth. With a little more experience He would realize how much more stuff He could do with his time if He wasn't fixing things He neglected. It's both entertaining and sad.
Any Merchandise Andrew? Love to get my hands on a T-Shirt, your channel is the best on RU-vid, that’s coming from another RU-vidr here in Ireland. Your a legend over here
