The fuel mileage is calculated based on throttle input and miles driven. With the "performance chip" installed it takes less throttle input to make power so it throws off the algorithm of the factory mileage calculator. As everyone has said this truck has been loved and appreciated. I can only imagine how nicely organized and maintained the previous owners tools are.

@@4literfandaniel373 I'm not brand loyal, brand loyalty is for people that don't have a clue. There's a reason why there's hundreds of times more million dodges than the rest and why there's 10 times as many dodges from the 90's on the road than fords or chevies (and dodge sold 1/10 of either of those brands). These are hands down the longest lasting trucks for those years. No idea about new trucks because I've never worked on them. In 94 to 02's the cummins engine, the transfer cases, the manual transmissions, and the axles and frames (edit and the front ends***) are the best you can get in a non commercial truck. The auto's easily were twice as good as a 4L60 or 80 and on par but seemingly longer lasting compared to the 4R100. Fords and chevies still had frames rot before the bodies making the trucks unusable in salt. Never seen a 4R100 past 200k though, but I've seen a couple dozen 46,47,and 48 re's well past 250 to 350k. The 02's to 2010's were different axles, transfer cases and went to the 48re and a common rail, still the best powertrain and frames money could buy, not even close,. Bodies were ugly as shit and paper thin steel too. 7.3 ford was a distant second. But i'd buy a 7.3 right now for a good price. I can't break mine and my trucks stay matted.

@meko1896 2 года назад
In the next video he says 3 tranny rebuilds. About right with my experience. I usually have them rebuilt them at about 200,000, before they give trouble. Last 2 rebuilds I was told everything was still within specs but the last shop put the wrong oil in it. Ran it 50,000 miles before noticing (turned gunmetal grey). Flushed and replaced filter, ran 10 miles, rinse and repeat 2 more times. That was 60,000 miles ago, still strong. 2nd Cummins since 1995, (currently a 2006) over 500,000 each. Never touched a turbo, transfer case, or differential. AC compressors, Brakes and rotors, Blend door, and one evaporator. One of the compressors internally imploded, elected to change every component (condenser, evaporator, hoses, and compressor) for fear of contamination. Also injectors about every 250,000.

I see the previous owner changed out the hose between the airbox and the turbo, that helps some for sure. Mine had death wobble, but we rebuilt some of the front end using '08 parts which are larger, keep on top of the ball joints and also run fairly good front tires which seems to help. Lastly, keep an eye on the front drive shaft as it's a bit of a consumable item and if it lets go it's messy and costly. I've had mine rebuilt twice in those miles, but we do lots of 4x4 use with it. 20 years ago when I started working in the oilfield we had a 92 Dodge 1 ton dually that the odometer quit working at around 720000 miles and it had quit working a couple of years before I started. I think when retired an old farmer bought it and I wouldn't be surprised if it still on the road. We currently have a fleet of real hotshot trucks (not saying this one wasn't but it looks more like a truck used to hotshot lighter loads between vendors and hasn't seen many active drilling/production locations plus a single axle one ton hotshot truck isn't ideal for the weight of loads that are typically hauled to active drilling/production locations) and there is no way anyone is getting a million miles out of the new trucks. The customer always under estimates the weight of the loads by thousands of pounds wearing out just about everything and the new emissions typically repetitively fail making it cost prohibited to keep fixing. We generally retire our hotshots around the 300,000 mark. I think it possible to get more miles out of them but our hotshot trucks spend more time on dirt/gravel loads then pavement. Hauling lighter loads at highway speeds on pavement one could probably get over the 500,000 mark pretty easy.
