I bought the same hiller furrower with my Troy Bilt Horse back in the mid 80's. This tiller has been like a tank is still running fine. I have maintained it well and have had only a few minor issues over the decades. Sad that they don't build them like they used to.
I have a troy bilt horse that I just ordered all new bearings and seals and a new motor and I had one of these hanging up on a nail out in the shed and never knew what it was and it is still brand new and exact same one as yours. I think I will put it on after I get all the dirt plowed and get some new tines, thanks for the vid other wise the thing would be hanging up on that nail still.
You're welcome. It really helps mound up the dirt for rows and get a good deep planting bed. Take care of it. These things are nearly impossible to find.
They don't make these new anymore. You have to find them used on eBay, Marketplace, or Craigslist. Search "Troy Bilt Horse attachments". They make a hiller forrower for the Earthquake tiller, but it is smaller.
9:20 That kickback was a root, rock, water line or septic line. In an instant, that machine will take the engage control knob and jam it into your nutz. Everyone of these bastards I have worked on have bent control bars due to pizzed off owners and horrible design.
Not sure who set the engine RPM to that high, but this engine, for this application, should run at a lower speed. There is an engine speed control (throttle) on your right hand for a reason. Slow it down, before you hurt somebody, or destroy the gear box and tiller blades. And...gotta love those purple shorts and pointy boots. Your toe nails will thank you in the future, and so will your foot doctor.
