Just had your vid pop up in my feed bro. 2017 R DSG here as well in Southern Oregon. Stg 2 with EQT. Thing rips bro. Just did MBRP active catback which sounds great and retains the factory valves and a Raceseng shift knob. Like others have said euros are a must. Keep it clean brother and take care!

Couple things to look out for. i myself have a 2018 R and have had about 6 other VWs, right off the bat that thing was beat on. These cars can take it but please have it fully looked at and a tune up done and DSG serviced and all fluids changed. Just judging by the paddle extensions and exhaust pops and the the downpipe it probably had full bolt one and took off the parts he had and replaced the oem back on that he still had. Seems like it has a tune so double check that and make sure it has a DSG tune as well if it is tuned. With bolt ima if it is stage 2 you’ll be fine with a Cold air intake and exhaust get those 2 before intercooler you’ll be ok with just those 2 but intercooler will help a lot I just hit 150k miles on mine and it drives like a dream. Repairs on these Rs is way more expensive so really take care of it

Congrats! Bought my 7.5R DSG Lapiz new in 2018. I thought it was expensive then but the Golf R is alot of car. Still have it, feels smoother at 60k miles than it did at 10k. Maintenance is pricey but stay on it.

I Went from a corolla to a golf r. The thing is a rocket. Enjoy it man. Congrats!

Congratulations. Had mine over 4 years and mine is Uk spec. Id get rid of the flaps and those wheels. You can get much better on the market for cheaper. Theyre are brilliant all round machines, enjoy!

Bought one for 28k (Canadian) in 2019. Just traded it in for 22k towards a Durango R/T. We outgrow the golf but it did everything well. Including get me pinched on 3 speeding cameras. Easy speed. Their quiet and smooth. My advice would be do the cosmetic suspension and brake mods before power. Then the power is so much more usable once you tune. Enjoy it dude. Great fucking car.

My 18 golf r is stage 2 DSG and she rips. Stage 2 DSG is good for 12s any day. They’re great cars. Trading my MK7.5r DSG for a MK8r manual in a couple weeks. Love these cars

You should first check and install some fresh plugs that most stage 2 tunes recomend

When I stage 2'd my 19 Golf R I noticed immediately it needed the full exhaust system I went with Milltek it allowed the car to be much cooler under the hood by allowing those hot gases to be expelled out the exhaust, the factory exhaust is way to restricted.

also unless ur beaaaaating on it in the summer or doing repetitive drag strip runs u dont NEEEED to jump on that intercooler im running the stock alltrack intercooler on the is38 and my IAT is roughly 15ish degrees over outside temps .... more than sat . and u can call APR and other major tuners and get them to search for ur VIN in their database to see if its tuned

Paddle shifter is still there lol just no got the silly extension that people add on, unless your planning on doing track days the extension to shift is useless tbh and imo the clean look off the steering wheel without them is nice

The back wheels only kick in if you lose traction in the front wheels. AWD kicks in. I'd prefer manual transmission and the MK6. MK7 and newer models have parking breaks(button) But still jealous!

Most people can't afford the golf R , So they have to buy a GTI with a lot of miles on it.

Also the mudflaps look bad, there are much lower profile one that are actually just as good but don’t change the look of the car
