If the company doesn't support it and it's hard to find, fans must step in to preserve the games themselves. If the company really cared about preserving the games (or continuing to make money from them), they would still be producing the game or they would find someway to introduce backwards compatibility.
If they're shutting down the PS3, Vita and PSP store fronts those games must be ported to the new PS5 store. The emulation trophy patent gives me some hope but if not I'm gonna have to stick a 2TB hard drive in my two old PS3's and load up my vita with a 512GB card to back up my old purchases.
All I have to say is that they need to be better about it. Microsoft is miles ahead of Sony when is comes to both Xbox and PC. Even Nintendo is porting a lot of its Wii U catalog to the Switch, not that Nintendo is doing particularly great in this department either.
Same. As soon as Sony ended production on the Vita I had to snap up that Aqua Blue Japanese import Vita that had caught my eye in 2016 when looking to purchase my first one.
It's not worth it. Trust me as a person who bought one and regretted it. HTML 3 so browsing is basically impossible. Games are at least $20 for some basic parkour game, which would be free on your phone. Your phone can do anything a vita can, except better. Don't let ancient games make you spend $200 into buying a vita. Also, OLED is a useless waste of money. Why would you pay extra for OLED when the device itself cannot even run high quality graphic games? It's like buying a Toyota Camry with some killer tyres. It's not worth it
I was going to say "Matty, it feels like you're kind of turning your back on the PlayStation side of your fan base recently." Then you hit me with 0:50. All faith came washing back over me.
Vita doesn't have l2 r2. That really turned it off for me. Plus my competitive nature won't allow me to play shooters on those tiny nubs they call analog sticks
@@itsmesteve1081 I believe that. Like I said, it really is a shame they didn't do anything with the console other than a handful of some jrpgs (with a due respect to fans of those games) and some exclusives. It is definitely good for some remote play if you're into that. Other than that nothing. But oh well.
Seriously, the time to collect for Vita was a few years ago, right when Sony stopped making new games. Prices have been climbing since. Most of the games I bought back then are much higher priced now.
maybe so, but prices are only going to get worse as time goes on. Now is still an ok time to collet but it won't be for much longer. Doubly so if these rumors of the psn shutdown are actually true
I just want to share the fact that I picked up a copy of P4G for 20 bucks at a retro game store. I’ve never had such a good deal and I don’t think I’ll come across one like it again.
This isn’t even mentioning how good Ps1/PSP games look on it. Tactics Ogre and Armored Core have their best titles on the psp, and they look excellent on a vita.
The homebrew scene is getting crazy on there now to, with ports like GTA SA, VC, CTW and now Bully is being ported as well, good year to be a vita owner.
Absolutely love the Vita. Some really good games to also get areTrails of Cold Steel 1 & 2 and the games by Vanillaware: Dragon's Crown, Odinsphere Leifthrasir, and Murmasa Rebirth.
Even though I own Persona 1, 2 and 3 as physical copies, I bought digital versions to be able to play these on my PSTV. It's cool to be able play Persona 1-4 on one system. Now is the time to get these.
Salutations Matty! Yes the PSP ! It’s one of my favorites as well! They should move the PlayStation store in PS5 if they are shutting down ps3 and psp vita store.
I love all your vids Matty but honestly these niche vids you do are some of my faves and I think its just cause its different and you're passionate about it and I can see that so it just makes for a more interesting, exciting video. A great example was your mega man video, absolutely loved it. Especially since I did not grow up playing those so it was interesting to hear about. Great vid dude, love your channel and I'll be here for the next one
Atlas made some incredible games for the Vita as did Japan Studio. And as a baseball fan there’s no better portable baseball sim on a handheld to this day than MLB The Show 15.
My wife couldn’t understand me buying a 2nd Vita just because it came with more physical games I didn’t own earlier this year. And today I explained how digital stores are going away and these are worth alot now. She just rolled her eyes and called me a nerd. Some girls don’t understand.
@MrMattyPlays, could you please give me the list of the games that you showed in your video as a reply? I am dyslexic and without the CC/subs, I can't check the spelling so could you give me the name of the games please.
Sure! The games are: - Gundam Breaker 3 Break Edition - YS VIII: Lacrimosa Of Dana - Unit 13 - Persona 4 Golden - Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc - Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair - Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony - Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls - Tales Of Hearts R - Freedom Wars - Zero Escape Virtue's Last Reward - Ultimate Marvel VS CapCom 3 PSP Games are: - Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Valkyrie Profile Lenneth - Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron
@@MrMattyPlays Thank you so much, looking at a let's play of - YS VIII: Lacrimosa Of Dana now. It's on PS4, so if I find the game interesting, I might play it. Like the idea of building a village.
The people who bring this topic up are the same people who celebrities Gsme Pass. This isn't attack and or insult to anyone. Only observation on the matter.
Huh. Interesting. I find it fascinating to hear why some people think the Vita is good. I personally would rank it last place among the consoles I own dating back to SNES. You sum up my biggest problem with the Vita when you say that Persona 4 Golden is like the "definitive PS Vita game." Persona 4 is a PS2 game. And that's the pattern on Vita: its game library had no strong identity of its own. In an era of more frequent remakes and less new games, it was a largely a port machine, its purpose limited to the the humble task of taking old games from the last couple generations of home consoles and putting them on a portable with the occasional small improvements. Try making a list of TRULY Vita-exclusive games that can be played on no other console than the Via. Then compare that list to a bunch of other consoles. I did, and the results are striking, vexing, and pathetic. The Vita's lack of original titles developed for it remains, to me, one of the biggest tragedies in the history of gaming. That console was pretty much the most powerful handheld ever produced when it released. And instead of being granted a lot of great exclusive titles to take advantage of that, it got the old, stale hand-me-down games of decades past most of the time. I have a big problem with any console that leans on the game libraries of past consoles too much. Consoles started to do this more around 2010 onward. Remakes on the rise... the drying up of original game development was well-underway by the Vita era. I already played so many "Vita games" on older consoles, that it made it REALLY hard for me to find any Vita games worth owning. I think I own like six Vita games. I could have bought three or four of them for other consoles. There's just so little reason to own a Vita if you already have a lot of consoles and games from the 20 years just prior to its launch.
@@Blz8 Wouldn't matter since if he doesn't buy physical games its illegal to download games. though doubt that stoped anyone. I hacked my PSP back in the day 15 years ago or so ad had soooooooooo many SNES games on that and ps1 games I didn't evne own.
@@sumireravenclaw8034 My hacked vita is filled with emulators and games from other consoles. It also has a hacked PSP inside it under the name of Adrenaline
HEY the Vita is getting some love, i imported stuff for mine and i adore it, i imported DJMax Technika Tune from America as we didn't get it in the UK, i imported Miracle Girls Festival and i imported IA VT Colorful, i use mine as a rhythm game machine mostly but Persona 4 Golden is one of my favorite games of all time 😊
Just managed to get a PS Vita in pristine condition together with God of War Collection, Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 and Final Fantasy X / X-2. And all that for measly price, thanks to the gentleman who sold it to me. Just wanted to share my joy with everyone else here :) long live PS Vita!
Matty, with peace and love can you please stop using that rubber band sound effect like at 4:14 It's really irritating and distracting, it's like someone is licking my ears.
I have 3 modded vita and one unmodded. Not really worth buying unless you like to play obscure jrpg. That's all the ps vita really has. A majority of its entire library is obscure jrpg
I just have never been interested in these games, I don't know anything about the franchises and I don't have the time anymore to just dive into a bunch of new franchises. A new one that strikes my fancy every once and awhile maybe.
