That tapped harness looks like a home made boost fooler or a smoke switch. The guy I bought my 5.9 from made a smoke switch and it looks similar to that jumper y’all found.

I'm pretty confident ive had this truck in my shop about 4 years ago. If not it is extremely similar paint and everything. We told the owner of it at the time was a pastor that it needed a lot of work and its really not worth it to put that much money into it. He brought it in and basically wanted everything replaced that we felt needed. I cant remember everything we replaced on it but we quoted him somewhere around like 12k for everything we felt was necessary and he was like how about we get all the main services done and get it running right so I can smog it. Our smog tech had been out of town that week so we just did all the normal service oil change tune up coolant flush the basics. I remember the smog guy came back and said the exhaust wasnt gonna pass and the truck sat in our lot for like 2 months and he finally came and picked it up took it to get the exhaust fixed and brough it back. I quit shortly after he brought it back but if that exhaust looks like it was replaced or has fresh ish welds that was it. I definitely remember those tires on it

Crack the injector lines and crank it to see if its getting fuel if its not then it has a bad vp44 or its sucking air from a bad line also there is a fuel straw in the tankbon the fuel gauge assembly that always gets a pin hole from a bad design flaw that will suck air after a half a tank

99 for the 24 valves had problems some did. Some of them had the 53 block, which they were highly notorious on goin boom lol I would check to see if it’s a 53 block you should be able to see it on the engine plate or even vin if I remember correctly

You should pull the motor out and send it to industrial injection. They’ll rebuild it and put all new internal parts.

5.9 cummins are easy to work on. If the injector are not working. Having a good pump mean nothing

5.9 Cummins it will run for sure 100% guarantee it. Bleed the injectors make sure its getting fuel it will run.

I made a mistake a few months back and bought a 09 Chevy Malibu from a tow yard (I use it to commute). My first thought was holy shit, this things only got 129000 miles, for 2500 bucks what a steal! It was about halfway home when that code they had cleared popped back up and I also realized the odometer is permanently stuck at 129k miles😂😂😂. Lesson learned. Still drive the fuck out of it though lol

Did you try cracking the injector lines while cranking on it? I betting the fuel system has air in it especially if since you guys removed the fuel feed line. I'd recommend cracking the injector lines and bleeding any air out of the system and she should fire right up. I can also tell the truck has an aftermarket lift pump as i could see the blue push lock line coming into the fuel filter housing. It probably has a FASS DRP lift pump installed underneath the truck somewhere.

Its a 99 with a vp44 pump. Its definitely the injection pump. Do a p pump conversion and dont look back.👌

Diesel fuel ignites via compression ,so if there is low compression Diesel fuel will not ignite .....so check the compression on each cylinder Harbor Fright sells a Diesel compression tester,, you will probably need at least 250 psi minimum to fire diesel and that maybe to low but get yourself a Diesel compression tester from Harbor Freight and test the compression ... descent compression should be north of 350 psi the higher the better
