@Random Watcher some people want to look like they have money the ones with money still have the old bmw's and keep them clean. I always kept for 2 to three years fix one or two things and sell it again.
The pre owned car market is south Africa at the moment is crazy . If you're looking for a second hand vehicle right now and you've found something, offer the dealer 15&20 % less than the asking price as that would be the actual retail book value . Also take into account that you have registration fees and other admin costs . That would be around 4k . Check when the last and next service is , because most people sell just before a major service because it's really costly . Check the tires are the same make , model and have legal amount of tread . Make sure all panels line up and paint all matches in colour . Buying pre owned is a gamble for sure and definitely don't rush into buying something that seems to good to be true .
My old bmw had a engine light that stayed on every mechanic said the car was fine and drove that thing for 2 years never had a Breakdown. I sold it and sometime think about it and if it still lives when I see a 05 320i 😅
I bought a Suzuki swift 2017 1.2ga in 2020 for 90k with 42000km, after servicing it, it has never broke down on me. I always service it on time and ask my Mechanic if it needs something new. My only mistake was having an accident with it in 2021, I drove it for a year and in 2022, I had to work on the suspension after being fixed. As insurance only fixed the body but not the mechanical DAMAGE, indoda made a plan. I knew that it was accident repair after buying and Nami I had the accident on the same side. Beside that, it as clocked 100000km last week and fuel efficiency is 19km/l. Buying an 100k car, please do check accident repairs and all.
High mileage car with a clean body means that car was well taken car of and has reached the point where It needs a few expensive bits replaced so owners choose to sell
My Vivo had clocked over 250k and I think it can easily go for another 150k. Car is strong and not so expensive to maintain. I do minor service myself sometimes
@Saint Knodge Polo 9n3 2008 model from new,Still same negine and if you see it you will think its new. Kilos currently on 694k still going,Aircon still runs and everything still works.
Cars to consider when you’re really really broke -Toyota Tazz/conquest -VW Citi golf -opel corsa -fiat uno Midas, autozone or Naskar can provide you with most of the spares for these cars
Your knowledge is amazing with buying cars, literally a big brother one always needs... Thank you for sharing the information with us... I'm glad I came across your content
Well said Doc fruitfull information as always... we also shouldn't be pressured to buy any car let's grind and have a slightly hire capital to buy a decent car... Danko Doc
Don't forget about normal wear and tear items. Those wide tyres look nice but they've got a nice price too and a lot of people don't put money aside monthly to cover those costs when they need to be replaced .
i bought a 100k kilos corsa 5 years ago now its on 300k and all i do its service nothing else, never smoke never done engine rebuild all its still well, cars are like wife u maintain them u get long life.
Bought a second hand car in 2018, toyota Auris x 2015 model. It was sitting at 90k km going for 170k. Till ths day it has never given me any issues except for the brake pads and light bulbs.
After a lot of research I have concluded that the best sub 100k car is a 2008-2013 Honda Accord 2.0. Stylish, comfortable, decent on fuel, spacious, semi luxurious, feature rich, and best of all - reliable! Can easily reach 500000km if taken care of.
My 2007 A4 has 313,000 km, engine top was redone last year (it cost a lot) and I'm planning to do the suspension this year and maybe refresh the headlights. With these old cars you have to be very consistent with maintenance and the car will take care of you. It also helps to know how to do some things yourself, just in case. Also find a good workshop /mechanic. I want to buy another high mileage Audi as a performance car project, just something to use as a toy and to learn from. 😁
@@MuziSambo my biggest worry when it comes to old high performance cars is parts but there are a few good part store in MP and Jhb for the Germans. But an old car needs a monthly allowance, it's worse than girlfriend allowance 🤣.
Another great video. I always appreciate your advice. I've heard you can hire a professional to check the car for you. I'd like your input on that if you have any info. One company I've seen mentioned is Screan who do inspections for R900+ but I don't know anyone who's actually used them so I'm skeptical.
Trackers are useless but at least they reduce your insurance premium. I don't expect to have it recovered with the tracker, I just want the savings. Do the maths before though, make sure that you're actually saving. For me it's around R200 a month in savings (even with the monthly cost of the tracker factored in). Doesn't seem like much but it adds up over time.
Is there a place/site in SA like the ones they use in the US, Europe(CarFax , etc) where you can pay a fee and run the VIN to get the car’s information, accident history etc
Muzi Sambo, please do a full detailed video on scam dealerships on Autotrader. Some of their cars appear to be good, but the prize is sometimes ridiculously low and also you may find out that the same car is being sold by 5 different dealerships. I'd love for you to explain a bit more on that. Thank you💙
It is mostly Nigerians owning such dogy car dealers and mostly operating JHB CBD and its surroudings, Kempton Park, Germiston and expanding to other cities as well. They are selling mostly code 3 written off rebuilds. They have identified a gap of ignorant South African buyer and they are capitilising on that.
@@conymokgaetsi7418 i suppsed he meant OEM...which is Original Equipment Manufacturer.... but anyway even second hand cars from OM or OEM does not guranteed peace of mind, you can still buy a Lemon from OEM, the fortunate part will be that the law protects you should anything goes wrong if it happened to be a lemom. OEMs also buy second hand cars from trade ins, we buy cars etc and that means that there are not in exception from selling a lemon.
@@thevillagemayor392 Yah thats what I meant, They have proper warranty/Maintanace plan and if things are not going well with the cars you can take it to any dealer accross the contry without any noise.
You will never go wrong with used Hyundai i10 I bought it 2nd hand for 103 000 in 2017,from Hyundai dealership and 6 years later my girl is still doing her thang...no disappointments or expensive surprises.
@@alphadiallo6215lol it’s good to drive around town , especially daily driving , fuel economy is so good , as far as overtaking goes in this car it can go it , it just takes a while for the powerband to come , but it is doable and just good car to have to drive incisively and be un
Hi Muzi, great video, but I don't agree with your comment on Mercedes Benz. I have been driving my ML for 8 years ,it's at 258 000km and no issues. I drive I between my two homes in Nelspruit & Midrand. I also use it for my daily commute to my office in Vanderbiltpark. The Merc ML is a workhorse and I will recommend the brand at any time
Now let's get practical, how much do you spend on service and wear and tear items compared to someone who decides to buy one of the cars that Muzi recommended. It's not that the German machines are not reliable. It's just that they are more expensive to repair on the case where something were to go wrong and need replacing.
Would you recommend a 2020 kwid 1.0 dynamique for 99k with 66k mileage for someone needing to do city driving all day. Roughly covering 50 to 100km city driving mostly per day. It's a female driver. How's the cost of service and maintenance on these cars. Not really worried about build quality as long as it's sufficient for A to B driving stop and go around town
Demo's are only good options if you were initially setting out to buy a brand new car. You'll get a few thousand off the brand new price and maybe a some extras thrown in to sweeten the deal. A good financial buy if you're looking for something that's not too old is a 3 year old second hand car because almost all of the depreciation would have been paid off by the first owner, and you may still have some warranty or service plan left on the car.
@@dinopadayachee8289 Thank you so much for the feedback. I am actually thinking of going for a Demo because brand new it’s a bit off my budget. I was a bit all over the place on which one should I go for (Pre-owned or Demo).
Muzi, can i ask if this garage suppose to pay us for advertising for them, e.g, if you buy a car at auto pedigree, they will put a sticker on the windscreen?
It's a scam that thing, I tried it. Whatever premium they offer when you have a tracker, there's always another ISP that can offer you a similar premium or less WITHOUT a tracker.
Hi Muzi, please assist me here. I have suspicions that I was sold an accident car without my knowledge. How do I check if a car was involved in an accident or not???? I drive a 2021 Hyundai Grand i10 I got from Carter Renault - it's pre-owned.
Bhuti Muzi i've been checking out your videos, i few questions Is it safe to buy a car. Then in the proccess of buying. You take the car to the road worthy testing centre to check any problems. Then servicing the car just after you finilised with payments. And before driving it from the dealer
Good day guys just a question should you wish to buy an second hand car and you need an expert to go and help you asses the car where does one get such an expert ? Thanks
