BUYING A USED INFINITI G35? | EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW 

A few other things: 1. Look at the coolant hoses to see if they are deformed or if there are giant bulges near the clamp. 2. On the highway get in the middle lane where the road does not crest as much left to right. Drive at highway speed on the straight away and let go of the wheel for 2-3 seconds. The car should track straight. If not there may be an alignment issue. 3. While driving around the parking lot try to find a wall, building, or even the highway divider. Drive along side it at 25-40mph then coast. Listen to the car noise echo off the structure. It should be almost silent except the wind noise. Listen for grinds, squeaks, etc. 4. In the parking lot do tight circles at low speeds, make sure you don't hear any clicking or clunking

Rust is definitely something to check for on the quarter panels, rockers, and underneath where the floor and rockers meet

As a 4 year owner of a g35 coupe. The things you want to check before buying: Oil consumption, these engines burn a lot so make sure the owner checked the oil frequently. fuel gauge can go out with time. front end suspension parts like to fail. keep and eye on window motors. doors like to close by themselves. headlights can be a pain in the a** to change if they go out... As long as you don't buy a clapped out one you should be good though. The engines on these old Infiniti's are bullet proof.

Window Motors, doors locking/unlocking, vehicle startup and idle, ensure the fuel gauge reads the correct level, cracks on the dashboard, cracked clock trim, check roof liner, cruise control, ask about whether the timing chains were replaced, check front lower control arms, paint fading, check for paint overspray, rear diff bushings, axle boot tears, VALVE COVER GASKETS, missing/ mismatched bolts/nuts, ask about oil change interval (I was crazy I would do mine every 3k), burning oil, oil all over the engine, radiator fans are spinning, coolant level, oil level. This is mostly everything I experienced when buying and owning my G35 coupe. I hope it helps people when finding your car.

One thing about Nissans from this era, is beware the “melting dash!!” I’m not sure if this happened with the 350z’s and G cars, but I know it for sure happened in the G37 and Altima Coupes (probably sedans too). My Altima Coupe had that problem. It starts as an unusually shiny spot towards the bottom of the windshield, and it gets progressively worse to the point where it is literally blinding when the sunlight strikes your dash, making it almost impossible to drive on sunny days. The dash also becomes sticky to the touch. And mine was so bad that I literally was able to scoop a chunk of it out with my fingernail. I had to get a cheap dash cover to cover it up. As it turns out, Nissan used a type of rubber for the dashes of this generation of cars that was not suitable for extreme heat and they did not issue a recall for it. There was a class action lawsuit out of Florida that was won, but pretty much everybody else was screwed. I would have had to pay out of pocket for a new dash on mine.

Can’t wait to get a G35 Coupe in December already have 6K saved up but I want to be safe with at least 8K to play around with. Thoughts on maybe waiting around until a Rebuilt G37 Coupe pops up?

Found an '08 g35 for 8k with 100k miles I'm buying. Dealer told me the valve cover's been replaced and oil filters changed. Car looks and feels clean.
