I'm never really sure how new I want to go with my videos, but I get a lot of good use out of my PS4 Pro and PS4 is over a decade old now. What games do you still play on the PS4? What other videos would you like me to make?
Only just got back into console gaming, been really enjoying Battlefield 1, Wolfenstien Old blood and Alex the Kid. Loaded up last of us part 2 and played for an hour but it's so slow and cinematic. I have very limited time to play having young toddlers so I like game I can slam in a play quick. Could you recommend any for me?
Man, time flies! Still vividly remember the day I got a new PS4 in 2014 and new PS4 Pro in 2017. Here I am anticipating the preorder date for PS5 Pro. 💙
I bought a ps4 few days Earlier. Great machine tbh. I am playing days gone and god of war 2016... Planing to buy some great games in spring sales.. Its a value for money
I brought a PS4 Pro in really good condition with 2 controllers and 8 physical games for 150 bucks. After tax and shipping from it was around 180. I got lucky because this Pro model had the figure 8 A.C input which indicates it's the newer and better model. I opened up the fan and cleaned it out, it wasn't that dirty so I expected the previous owner didn't play it much. I have a lot of games I brought last Black Friday and still haven't opened or played yet. There's no need to rush to get the PS5.
Ps4 pro is perfect for anyone that does not have a high refresh rate display imo. Once you upgrade the hard drive to a ssd you basically have a ps4.5 😂
Since my birthday is coming in a month, I still didn't know what console to buy since I have a low budget but now that I watched this video I'm 100% sure that I will buy the PS4
@@thegamethrifter the $200 price point for PS4 Pro is amazing. But $500 for future proof PlayStation 5 is a bit steep. I love PlayStation and cannot decide between the amazing deal on the PS4 pro. Or future proofing my household for future PlayStation games. I am torn.
Finally got a working, nice PS4 slim a few days ago. I am usually a PC/Xbox player along with the Switch, I play wherever the game plays best. Happy to get to play all the PS4 exclusive titles.
I recently bought a PS4 Pro 1TB with 2 Dualshock 4 controllers from a friend for only $167.80 (RM800 in Malaysian Ringgit). He had it since 2021, and decided to sell it to me as he considers to buy a PS5. Some people said it's not worth buying a PS4 in 2024, but I think it's a good deal for me as I'm not really into the new gen games, I merely wanted to play all the games that I missed out on during PS4 peak era.
100% wirth it. Buying a used slim next month and honestly its great for anyone who missed tje 8th gen of games and consoles. Games are cheap, the console is cheap and the games performace and library is goated
Have to agree! And I own a PS5 and this gen has been kind of a letdown. Not sure if it was because of the industry in general or because of the lockdowns, but it's been kinda lackluster.
@@thegamethrifter Lockdowns did contribute because covid brought an economic crisis on game studios leading to layoffs and slowing game development. This is worsened by the fact that games are so advanced in terms of graphical fidelity that they take long to make. But tbvf no game has really compelled me ro get a ps5, ps4 has so many amazing cross gen games and older games, kinda hard to believe how many cross gen games there have been, i remember when the ps4 was released, barely any new gen titles came to the ps3, but with the ps5 its just a different story :(
I had no idea what games to play on my ps4 anymore, and really want to get a ps5 but I dont have the money for it right now. However, some of your recommendations were really good and made me buy concrete genie and ratchet and clank, as Ive never heard of them before. Thank you so much!
the graphics on the ps4 are amazinh, even until this day, but one thing you have to keep in mind is, that the ps4 only runs at 30fps. This makes ist, that the game kinda looks blurry when moving around and i really hate it, that you can't uncap it or something. But from what I know, some games run at 60 fps on the ps4 pro. So if you have bo problem playing at 30 frames per second, then the ps4 is still amazing.
But ps5 has backwards compatibility. Which means all PS4 games are playable on ps5. Unless you already have the PS4 it's better to get the ps5. Also there are rumours that PS3 games will be playable too in a future update.
Simple answer, yes. More detailed answer, yes, absolutely. If you are interested in buying one, you should go for a PS4 Pro, not the slim or the original one, the previous two versions would struggle with running anything off of the later PS4 catalog, many of which are featured on this video. You should also look into switching the hard drive that the PS4 comes with to an SSD, it’ll help a ton with loading and making the games run more smoothly, disk based hard drives aren’t worth it, honestly and are severely outdated, an SSD will make it more responsive and will help with keeping your PS4 from malfunctioning. I made the switch from Xbox One to PS4 back in October of last year, and imma be honest, I’ve rarely played my Xbox one. It is extremely worth it, especially if you don’t have the budget to purchase a PS5, which hasn’t really proven itself to be worth the “upgrade”
I'm ordering the ps4 pro on Monday, one of my dreams is finally coming true, to play on the ps4 exclusive games, I also have an xbox, I've played a lot of good games there too, but they're not exclusive I'll use xbox for more new game releases and the ps4 i use for exclusives games if you asking, why I didn't buy a ps5 at first because I have the series s and then the ps5 was expensive in 2020
I remeber bought it for Christmas in 2023 it was ps4 slim from 2020 (i mean he was made that year) and he is pretty good first owner really cared about him i got him for 170€ with 2 joystick's and Spiderman miles morales he is not dusty at all when i opened him and in my opinion ps4 is worth it
If you've never even thought about VR, try to get a cheap PSVR set. I managed to get one for $70 and haven't looked back since. RE, Saints & Sinners, Hitman, GT... it'll blow your mind if you've never seen it before. Great entry point system to see if you like it or not. Not to mention the hundreds of other regular games worthy of your time.
Hey what's that game playing in the intro of the video the schmup one? Looks interesting. I'm still on my PS4 Pro and Xbox One X along with a Switch and haven't upgraded yet. I don't even have a 4k tv yet I'm still living the best life with everything that 2018 and before has to offer me. I have like 50 games on the PS4 alone that I haven't played yet lol. I won't allow myself to upgrade until I clear some of my backlog.
If PS6 can play games from PS4 and PS5 that would be insane but Sony is too greedy and doubt that would happen especially given how they would just remaster the older games and charging full price. If PS5 Pro comes out this year I'll probably get that although hopefully it won't sound like a jet taking off and heat up my room like the PS4 Pro did.
@@Silentdragn I think from here on out, it'll be backwards compatible with PS4/PS5. It's all based on the same architecture, so it shouldn't be a problem.
I honestly skip PS5 pro, if even it comes out as there are no games that could utilise full potential of PS5. I probably just skip this one and wait for PS6 till mid cycle to see how it performs.
If you want to have fun and be a pratical person. Ps4 is for you.if you are the type that want to be updated and money is not an issue ps5 is for you. Any console is great it is the way you handle it and type of gamer you are.
Hadn't bought a console for years. Decided I wanted one and was interested in the ps5 but lol it was around the time it was scarce and super expensive.. so opt'd for a ps4 pro, used and the amount of great games I caught up on and STILL getting caught up on. I'd get a ps5 when this stops working or idk, if I'm ballin lol also didn't know Ragnarok was for ps4 also 😂 playing Elden Ring for the first time and wow...was surprised I'm liking it so much
@@thegamethrifter Detroit Become Human play really well on remote play. Titanfall 2 is good, Doom 2016 not bad (input delay), sadly cyberpunk is unplayable because the UI is too small. The zoom function is not enough on the vita. I’m curious to see if System Shock remake is playable (UI). I have a little idea. Since I remote play locally without using internet, I will order a wifi antenna for the vita (flat patch antenna, internal mod) and one for the ps4. Hoping it will help with the range. Anyhow, have a nice day !
Yes, it is. I got aa ps4 pro and i have it filled with jrpgs. Games are super cheap and combined with my ps vita i can play on my bed or out on my porch swing.
I just got a gaming pc... but I still play Cyberpunk 2077 v 1.61 and Dragon quest 11 on my Ps4 slim. Despite the former having some bugs and graphical downgrade. I'm planning on getting Cyberpunk for pc eventually. But right now, I'm still refusing to let go my ps4.
There is little difference between the ps4 and ps5 on most comparison videos. 30fps is enough for most games. There is no need to get a ps5 or ps5 pro except to play the few exclusives.
Bein a pc gamer, I want to collect physical games now so I'm planning on picking up a ps4 pro and buying all the games I missed out on during the ps4 cycle.
@@casualjay909 you just have to be on the lookout for great deals. Yard sales are a good bet, because a lot of the time people aren't aware of what they have. Many times I've found games for $1-$2 each.
My friend has a ps4 which he uses once a month, he told me that I can have it for a couple weeks to see if I’m interested. Is there any games you recommend?
God Of War (2018), God Of War Ragnarok, Detroit: Become Human, The Last Of Us Remaster, The Last Of Us 2, Ghost Of Tsushima, Ratchet & Clank (2016), Spider-Man (2018), Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Uncharted 4, Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection
I have 7 systems already. Not sure where to go next. PS4 or Xbox Series X. Because I would like a machine that plays a ton of my old Xbox library before they dump the disc drive altogether.
I didn’t like any of these game on Playstation 4, except for The Last of Us remake(remaster?) . I also liked the remaster of Uncharted 1 - 3. I didn’t like the 4th one. I guess Playstation 4 just wasn’t made for me. I really bought it just to The Last of Us for the first time.
There are 155 ps4 games with the FREE 4k/60fps patch for the Ps5. Playing Mass Effect or Witcher 3 at 4k/60 is much nicer than 1080p/30 on a ps4. Most all new and upcoming AA and AAA games play on the Ps5 but not on the ps4.. So far there are 669 games that the Ps5 can play that the Ps4 can not. Alan Wake 2 ,BDG3 ,Jedi Survivor I can go on forever .
Majority of people don't even own a 4K TV. I own a PS5 personally, but Spider-Man 2 wasn't great...and I can't think of anything that screams to buy a $550 console right now. I can understand there's a lot of hardcore people who buy the latest and greatest, I'm a lot like that. However, the fun factor of most newer games just isn't there. If you're someone who just plays COD, FIFA, Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, Apex Legends...why would you need to spend $550 right now on a PS5?
Sold my ps5 and got myself a second hand ps4 pro 7200 model for €100. I replaced the HDD for a SSD and I should say I am 1:19 not really noticing any huge sacrifices 😊

@@Crashed131963 Name me 10 really can't miss games though? I mean that's the issue really. This generation has been a bit of a letdown for whatever reason.
@@Crashed131963 my Guy, I understand where you are coming from. But I was expecting next gen titles with the ps5. How many dedicated real ps5 games are there? You can count them on 1 hand bruh
I still own and play my PS4 Pro console due to financial reasons the same time this economy inflation will not leave no time soon. Until either they cut the price or they will stop making ps4 games I’ll will transition to the PlayStation 5 console and now the PS5 Pro console is about to be released the price is beyond outrageous I wouldn’t even pay $700 it’s unbelievable same time this inflation will not end. 🤦🏽♂️
@@thegamethriftera a lot ppl especially gamers are still paying the PS4 it’s actually not a bigger issue on the gaming console my advice would say get the PS4 Pro console because it’s more powerful also the graphics is relatively to the PS5.
If you have zero problem with 30fps then PS4 is a perfect home console for you. Hen or ofw it's up to you, but I hope you play original. But if you have less budget then go for hen.
I keep contemplating on getting a ps5 but now I'm just like meh I bought a ps4 pro last year for $120 It was the upgraded version too with the figure 8 wall port so its the newest version. It even came with 2 controllers but they were scuffed up. So I just used my own I had with my slim and gave the slim to my younger siblings. I haven't at all been playing games as of lately especially having a PC and all my other consoles ima just work and save for a Mustang
Why buy a PS4 when I have a shiny new PS5? 😂 I’d prefer to focus on my launch day PS3; it’s an absolute beast with tons of exclusives and other great titles. ☝🏻 PlayStation! 💙
PS5 is like $500 and $550 in some places. Pro is going to be $700. A lot of games are still supported on PS4, including Minecraft, Fortnite, COD, Madden, FIFA, Roblox, Apex ECT So, someone with a budget could still play a great library for cheap.
Time to move on. The reason why we don't have a lot of next gen games is because of PS4 Users. But it will end in march 2025 when GTA 6 comes out. You all will upgrade then.
@@nazaritubes The problem with that is that in the PS4/Xbox One generation people built incredible libraries of digital games. So leaving that might not make sense for people with hundreds or even thousands of games. Personally, I have over 700 PS4/PS5 digital games and over 1500 installed right now on my Series X. I always say it's best to get both!
When ps4 launched everyone moved on from ps3 to ps4 but ps4 to ps5, thats not possible, i bet they can afford new iPhones but cant afford ps5, simple get loan on ps5 and pay the loan down
Buying? no. If it's entire library can go on the newest system that plays the games better on modern TVs...then there is no reason to buy one. It is a great system, but not the best option for the money if you already have a VRR capable 4k tv. If you don't, then maybe. Just getting titles like days gone and Horizon at 60fps is well worth the small premium over a ps4. If a $200 difference makes or breaks you, maybe rethink what your true issues are before jumping into a new game library.
@@thegamethrifter not sure about that… every house I’ve been in, business, school etc has 4k tvs. Even slum hoarder houses lol. But I agree with you about visuals.
@@bjornironsides6474 You can look into the numbers, worldwide there's only 38% adoption rate of 4K TV's. Even less if you're looking at 4K TV's with HDMI 2.1 to take advantage of new consoles.
@@thegamethrifter that may be true, but I’m not interested in worldwide. I’m interested in where most consoles are purchased which is the United States which has 4k tvs out the ears. Accurate that most are probably not 2.1 VRR yet.
Some games will be current gen only for sure, but I think Call Of Duty, Madden, FIFA will continue on. As will updates for games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Minecraft, Roblox ECT
If someone doesn't have that money, what games for current generation only make it worth spending $500? To me, there's nothing much. I have had a PS5 since launch and there's a couple good games, but nothing amazing like previous generations.
If you have a ps5 then you really don't NEED a ps4/ps4 Pro anymore Cuz it can play the ps4 games..... Unless you just like collecting consoles..... In which case... Seek help, lol
@@MjN0921 Pro sometimes has options for better frame rate and things. Games IMO run much better. I have the Star Wars Pro and it is fairly quiet, but I've heard the slim is extremely loud with The Last Of us 2, Ghost Of Tsushima ECT
I would say that's on developers for not making current gen only games that are appealing enough. Oddly, College Football is helping to sell Xbox Series and PS5 consoles.
@@thegamethrifter for sure, but when people are still encouraging other to buy/play these dying consoles, the devs will think there is a demand for them. Ideally we allow this gen to die and we get better optimised games like Alan Wake 2 etc
@@HotdogStephen It's on the devs, but there's a reason 50% of PS4 owners haven't upgraded yet. There's been a good number of current gen only games, but nothing that really stands out IMO
@@thegamethrifter the performance on current gen is night and day better in every sense, the load times are better, the UI is also better. Also having Discord available on PS5 and Series consoles is also a huge thing! I genuinely believe everyone should be on next gen at this stage
@@HotdogStephen You can pick up a PS4 or Xbox One for like $100 though, and if someone just just wanting to play Minecraft, ROBLOX, COD, Fortnite, Madden....there is absolutely no need to pick up a new console because those games are still updated on previous generation hardware. Also, hardcore gamers worry about performance, most people still rocking a 1080p TV in 2024.
Love Shadow Of The Colossus! In fact, I have it on PS2, PS3 (Remaster) and PS4 (Remake)!! I'm not into the Souls games, I think with my work and family life, it's hard to get enough time to dedicate to those! lol
