So we filled the pond with food and bought some fish and put them in. We’ve got 300 pink tilapia and 400 catfish in there now and they are getting big.
The Talipia fry would have been eaten by the catfish. Breeding both in the same pond is not so easy as the catfish will always eat smaller Talipia. Look forward to seeing how it works out for you. Great video Jason. Love the music choice too.
Yeah I had big ideas of putting a fluorescent tube on a large bit of chip board and have it at an angle so all the insects slide into the pond. Been busy with other things lost track. Could still do it. Need to fatten those fish up!! Thanks
That Foreign Bloke The reason for the clear water is coz we are using the water to irrigate the land - like twice a day. It goes down by about 2 foot everyday. We then pump that back in from the water table. This gives air and fresh water to the fish.
MisterMitch Thanks Mitch. We’ve still go to fatten them up a bit for another month I think - at least. The catfish we’ve had an offer of 40bt a kilo which would work out at about 14/20by each depending on their size obviously. When I come to sell them I will definitely do a video about it...
Farang-Thai So we went back to the place where we brought the fish from, today to buy some more feed. They told us that they would buy back the catfish for 40bt a kilo. The tilapia might be different coz he was saying that he didn’t know if there was going to be a pond smell to them, and therefore people would buy them. We don’t think this is going to be true so we might have to find another outlet for them. We could sell them to people who have got a stall on a market already selling fish - maybe. I don’t necessarily know they still need fattening up for at least another month so we got time to think about it.
