It's been a while since I picked up a used motorcycle. Today we're checking out a used Harley Davidson Iron 883 Sportster. I picked this bike up used from a local subscriber, Tom. He reached out while I was out of town and offered to sell me his beautifully built Sportster. Let's check it out!

883 to 1250 is a monster. That’s a perfect stunt piece! A lot cheaper to stunt to compared to a dyna parts wise

How does the 1250 do on highway im kinda pinned right now for either getting a cheap 883 or a 5k late 90s dyna super glide dont know which one to get 🤔

@@dynaguy1450 if you're gonna get an 883 you should just look for a factory 1200, with the conversion + fuel management it kind of ends up negating the price difference. Plus they're both 5 speeds so honestly highway the dyna is only slightly better

@@dynaguy1450 1250 will cruise the highway with ease. My buddies 1250 cruises low rpm at 60 in 4th…. While my 883 is kind of revved out going 70 in 5th lol

@@dynaguy1450 I just bought a brand new bone stock iron 1200. I cruise 120kph on the hiways. U feel the wind pretty heavy. But it feels like the bike is 200lbs when your riding it

@A killa 4 reala its all about a state of mind for me...when i think sporty i think bike of the 50's ...once you are in the good mindset it make the bike something and all the fun come from there for me.

@@dynaguy1450 i would...but to be fair i dont 'get' the dyna, too big to be small, too small to be big. best thing is trying it for yourself, if you prefer the smaller, more primitive basher i guess you'll like the sporties, if you want something that look a little smaller but still big and more refined then go the other way

Right on on the BMX theme, I have 5 1990’s retro bikes! I got that when I saw the oilslicks pedals on the first bike. Just got an SE Omflyer and I am get a Vulcan soon 😁👍

I’m seeing alot of these Harleys with chain conversion and not really understanding the appeal? Having a clean and maintenance-free belt drive is so nice!

its just because it give you around 5% more power to the wheel compared to a belt...i prefer the belt myself but for someone that want to squeeze everything out of it thats what you need

Stoked for this to be added to the channel. I just got a 01 1200 sportster that the previous owner tore completely apart but all the parts and nuts/bolts are here. Planning to build exactly the way this ones set up.

Ive got a 48 with a s&s hooligan 1250 with feuling cams, lifters, valve springs and hammer performance pushrods, bronze oil pump, bassani 2-1,s&s tear drop, thundermax ecm, tmf chain conversion, barnett clutch plates, diaphram spring and billet pressure plate, progressive 490 shocks and adjustable monotube cartridge forks, daytona steering damper, carbon fiber fenders and side panels, west coast tbars (the exact same ones as the ones on that bike) with a hd tach mounted in the same place, radial brembo 4 piston calipers, brembo pads and brembo 11.5 floating rotors front and rear, xr1200 master cylinder and so much more. Whoever gets this 883-1200 or 1250 (Jon didn't specify which hooligan kit it had) is going to be pumped. I can tell from experience that thing is a ripper and it looks so much like mine haha

S&S 1250 is right up there with hammer. I wouldn’t do anything to it besides upgrading the clutch (if that’s not already done)

I love the chain conversion, I'm looking for one for my '06 1200. But the 2 into 1 exhaust and fairing just don't do it for me. I have the stock header pipes with slip ons on mine. Nothing says Sportster like the staggered duals. I do love the way it shakes though. Real Harleys shake. Purple??? You've got to be kidding. Stock the M8 does not sound or feel like a Harley. I don't know what an aftermarket exhaust would make it sound like, but it will never have the Harley feel, and that along with the sound are the ONLY two reasons I ride a Harley.

Jon bro can you list out the mods on this sweet Sportster? I might do on mine..he got good taste...idk much about the chain conversion, that might be a lot of maintenance..over all sweet rides, both the sporty and the m8 👍🏽 Imagine that Sportster in Black and gold ❤️

Never understood people buying brand new motorcycles, spending thousands of dollars on parts and putting 2000 miles or less in 4 years. And there's tons of them, you see 20 year old Harleys with 4-5k miles all the time and it's actually sad. I bought a Rebel 500 last week and I have 600 miles on it and still feel like I want to ride it more.

Lots of mods on a heavy bike. Harley needs more carbon and aluminum. Harley needs stressed motor frame builds.

Selling that bike would be almost the dumbest thing you ever did, especially since it was dropped in your lap. The dumbest thing IMHO was dumping all that money into a Dyna. Very hard to beat a Sportster for fun.

Is the 1250 as fast as the 110 you used to have?

Probably not even close. The sportster is 1250 Cubic Centimeters, his Dyna was 110 Cubic Inches, which equals a little over 1800 Cubic Centimeters.

@@jowens4160 ya but the hammer 1250 kits make more horse power and weigh less power:weight ratio... Hammer 1250 sportsters run 10s making up to 130hp and 110 dyna run mid 11s at best. I'm well aware of cubic centimeters/ inches ..

He def spent a pretty penny on upgrades. I have done the same. Later down the road you find out that the bike doesn't fit you anymore. It hurts a little. RIP 2018 Indian Scout Bobber

All that money and work put into it to put 2000 miles on it? Seems like a waste to me but hey that's because I don't have the expendable income to dump into a bike I'm not planning on riding or keeping.
