We did our shopping at Gallo mas Gallo when we moved here. Happened to be mother's day sale. Bought 2 queen beds, fridge. Stove with oven, washing machine. Because of the sale, we received a gas tank, microwave, rice cooker, set of dinner ware, coffee pot, toaster, and blender for free.
I'm Nicaraguan and I enjoy viewing videos about Nicaragua here on RU-vid. Out of all the regular channels on Nicaragua that I have seen here I have to say I enjoy your videos the most because you explain Nicaragua to people who don't know about it i in the most informative and no-nonsense way possible, sans any personality or " entertainment " value, which I appreciate. A lot of the people here on RU-vid seem to focus on the casual attitudes about Nicaragua while you take it as a way of life, which I'm sure it is because you say you live there so I say cheers to you! BTW has anybody ever told you that you could pass for Geddy Lee's ( from Rush ) oldest son? He would be around your age by now. You look like a blond Geddy Lee!
Los abanicos o ventiladores sean económicos a caros, duran de un año hasta cuatro. Deben limpiarse unas 5 veces al año y ponerles aceite especial para que no se dañe el motorcito.
Thanks for sharing. We live in Granada and were interested to see how big a range of items are in the Managua Maxi Pali. Good tip about the fans as well. We've noticed how much more comfortable it is when the fan is running. We had a lot of uncomfortable nights sweating like anything until we figured that one out!
Glad to watch you post content on where the locals shop to save money. I think you're on the right track when you post videos on where to shop, eat out and have a drink. Film yourself tasting something delicious or interesting like street food. Any famous places always interest some people. Also anything to do with entertainment and interesting tourist attractions. Talk about the weather and when is the best time of year to visit. Many people (especially older expat types) would probably like a brief word or two about healthcare and medical insurance. Those are just a few random ideas for future content.... Good luck building your channel up.
Thanks!! Love the feedback. I talked on a webinar as a guest yesterday to a bunch of people interested in retirement. I have a feeling that is gonna be the biggest demographic that would actually end up moving because they are already looking to retire. Somebody told me there are 4,000,000 + new retirees every year for the next 7 years or something like this. Interesting times.
Hi Jack! Thanks for all the great info! Can you do a video on Ferreterias? (Hardware shop) I would like to see pricing and the items they carry, also if there is any solar paneling options available. If you can I'd greatly appreciate it! I might be going to Leon after this pandemic is over. Thanks for being awesome. 👍
@@JackPitmanNica I agree, i've being using Duolingo since 2014 and i learned a lot of English vocabulary, i'm not an expert, but i'm on my way, i'm really thankful to Duolingo, now i understand almost everything that native english speakers says, and all for free, Duo it's awesome. are you still in Nicaragua?
Yo Mike - I lost access to the original RU-vid channel unfortunately, although I wasn't making much content to be honest. I've been working on other projects. You can find my new RU-vid channel here :)
I'm traveling to Managua next week. It'll be my first time and I'll be there for 28 days. Do you know of a reliable transportation service when leaving the airport?
Depends on the time of day. In general you want to communicate with somebody to have them waiting for you at the airport. You'll be bombarded by taxi drivers as soon as you leave the airport, they will charge you higher than normal prices but in a situation where you don't know anybody and your here for the first time you'll just have to go with it. You won't have any problems finding a tax driver. It is likely that "Taxi?" will be the first word you hear after you leave the passenger only section of the airport
Hi Jack, if I wanted to come for 3 days to Nicaragua to visit, how much do you think it would cost me in US Dollars including airfare. Just looking for a rough estimate.
Your biggest expense is airfair. $300-$500 for round trip to Nicaragua from USA. After that,,, depends what you want to do those 3 days. Budgeting $20 per day for hostel or hotel fare is enough unless you want really fancy things. I also have a guest bedroom that is available for rent in some periods of time. We keep one room free from permanent residents (people can stay there for a week or a month but not on a long term basis. Its a "transitioning" room in that way. Food costs are minimal. If you want to buy each meal and not cook, you could budget $10 per meal and spend less than that in most situations. You'd have a hard time spending more than your plane ticket in 3 days
Absolutely man! I'd love too! You are welcome to contact me at any point to set something up at on WhatsApp at +505 7621 8461 (or just text me, I'm on Movistar)
The cheapest prices are always found in the actual markets here such as Mercado Oriental, Mercado Huembes, Mercado Israel. Maxipali is the cheapest supermarket. Both Pali and MaxiPali are owned by the walmart corporation. Keep in mind $1 usd is quite expensive for most things here. All local produce is $0.05 - 0.40 per pound and even meat is priced close to that provided it is local chicken, beef, or pork.
I visited Nicaragua for 2 weeks in 2017. Then I lived in Nicaragua for 9 months. Then USA for 9 months. Then I returned to Nicaragua and I have been living here for 11 months. So in total around 20 months
I do not but if you ask around in the facebook groups you'll find some contacts. Of those contacts, some will scam you and some will be legit. Best of luck
