Buying My First Supercar AGAIN? *Affordable Audi R8* 

Asking price of 50K is fair. Overall, these have risen in price a little over the last couple of years, but it's mainly the low mileage examples that have risen in price 10-15K, which this isn't. Not the colours I would buy personally, but it looks good. Exhaust/engine sound is just right, as best as I can tell, at least to my ears/tastes, which are usually not the same as Paul's, but maybe he's maturing. However, the monthly finance payment seems high to me for a 50K car. And if he did do circa 5K miles a year in it, in four years time it would be a high mileage example in the context of Audi R8s. All that said, this is exactly the type of car I think Paul should be buying. I'd have tried to get one with 20K miles less for GBP5K more, but if servicing is fully up-to-date, it's had a new clutch, it's had suspension work, etc, it could be a good ownership experience, and I think these will continue to rise steadily in price, so it's possible that in four years time with 20K more miles, it could be worth the same, as long as it's well-maintained and not ruined by crazy mods.

At this rate Paul will end up back in his old Astra

I have a V10 Manual Spyder and think it is a brilliant option. A proper, mechanic supercar, from the supercar peak days. If you love manuals, that engine and gearbox can't be beaten without spending mega money. Incredible value and there are some decent exhausts if you want more noise. Should hopefully hold or gain value too and servicing isn't horrendous, so an inexpensive ownership proposition. Whatever you go for, I hope you enjoy it.

audi r8 great car, but the hype built up over the last year doesnt justify it content wise and you will not see high views, especially considering youve documented a v8 r8 already before

You need one, Paul! I have had my gated V10 for a few years now and I will never get rid of it. Its my dream car to be honest. And with EVs soon to be ruling the roads, you want one of these as a remedy to the boredom of driving a silent EV. Long live the manual!!!

I have it's twin a 2009 R8 V10 Manual Coupe in Black with Silver SideBlades, I bought mine back in Jan 2016 with 22K Miles and 3 owners, still own it to this day and fitted it with a awesome Capristo X Pipe in 2017 and I still own this awesome Supercar to this day now with 27K miles and still in amazing condition!!!!!

Should hunt down your original R8 and buy it back

I had a 2010 gated V10. Here’s my tip, ALWAYS turn off traction control when driving one. You can outdrive the Quattro system in a way that no other Audis allow. No one talks about it, but that’s because they’re so rare that not many folks own them, and then only a tiny percentage actually drive them. I sold mine a few years ago to cash in on the boom but now considering buying another as prices have fallen back down in the US.

The R8 manual is nice and all but you've done and documented the R8 journey already. Owning another one is boring. An Aventador should've done your next supercar or at least get yourself a R8 V10 plus. But it in the end it all depends on your choice. Goodluck with your shopping.

I’m not hating here at all but buying a R8 regardless of engine again will be underwhelming. I used to live Paul’s videos when he was coming up. I think RU-vid for Paul is dead now, but I like him and would really enjoy something like a behind the glass type podcast with Paul. I don’t think these videos and buying a car (like that one) would be a good move moving forward. Do as you like and what makes you happy but compared to other RU-vidrs currently if you’re looking in that price bracket it’s probably best to leave it and put your efforts into something else (like a podcast)

I own a v8 spyder 2014 with s tronic…..such a drivers car. I think you can’t go wrong. It’s a great investment….only minor negative with the v10 is extra servicing cost to the v8.
