Young lady thank you so much for your videos. I wanted to find no BS videos on technique , how to with what and you nail it. You don't ramble on about how your mother's, Brothers ,cousins, third Uncle ,twice removed blah blah blah blah blah. No BS, talk about what you know and have learned and how to get it done. Your artwork is beautiful! I've learned a lot from watching your videos though I airbrush dye on leather items that I make. Keep up the good work and I hope you make crap tons on money on your videos.

@@DeeJayBeStudios You are very welcome. You are quite talented. I can figure most things out. I'm a journeyman electrician , journeyman millwright, A.S.E Master certified automotive technician, very accomplished Tig welder, machinist and I enjoy leather working. I know natural skill and talent when I see it, and you have it. You didn't ask but I've got some advice you may find useful. Don't let some ass hat negative nelly get to you over any of your work or videos. Use negative feedback to your benefit. You are very good at what you do, use that information to get better. Take good care of your hands and your eyes. I'm not joking here. I'm 50 now and my hands don't function like they used to. Keep that strong focus on health and safety you have going on. Always ware uv sunglasses, not cheap POS ones. You will thank me for that in 30 years. Lastly, you should look into learning some basic leather work and start airbrushing leather. Wouldn't have to be an animal per say. Your eye for color is remarkable, and great detail. People would go bat shit ga ga over what I believe you could lay down on leather. If you want some to get started with, I'll send you some.

I am recently getting into painting models and was looking for info on airbrushing as it’s all completely new to me. It was nice to have a video where someone realised you might not have hundreds and hundreds to splash out on the super best kit as a hobby. A very helpful and clear video. Thank you.

Looked at comments, not disappointed. This sweetheart is painting horses, everyone learning about airbrushes is painting for wargaming... with no small portion of a grim dark future where there is only war. haha. Great video. Dont buy an Iwata now. Get a Master kit and get 3 brushes and a compressor for 130 bucks. Build yourself a spray booth for 35 bucks and get a Harder and Steenbeck when you get good.

You're right. There is nothing wrong with your idea. What I was trying to say is that buying cheap Chinese-made compressors is a bad choice from an economic viewpoint. Chinese hardware won't last as long as quality hardware. Quite often you pay more for the Chinese hardware because of price to "how long it will last" ratio. There's also matter of comfort. Good compressor means less frustration :) Ps. Sorry for my funny English. I'm Polish ^^

Don't forget about model railroading. I use my airbrushes for my models. Harbour Freight one for lacquer paints and a Badger 155 Anthem for acrylics. I beg to differ; Badger is the best airbrush line. My 155 Anthem will do as much as your Iwata and much cheaper. The Harbour Freight was only $89.00 with compressor and the Badger was only $58.00. Both of mine are bottom feed but can be used with colour cups.

I know this is an older video but I will add the big difference between that cheaper compressor vs the higher priced ones, is that the higher priced once are going to be much quieter. So if that is a concern it might be worth the higher price

Good presentation and explanation. Just a few amendments. With single actions you only press down, not pull back. You need to drain that water from your compressor's water trap. Hope you drain the tank every week as well. Do not use those little brushes in your airbrush. It has a metal center and can damage the soft brass insides. That nozzle tool is not applicable to the Eclipse range. Even though it looks like you can take the nozzle apart, you should not. Even replacement nozzles come in a single unit. The head wrench is also not necessary after the first clean. You just need to tighten the head finger tight. A tip is to get a PVC hose from Iwata. They are lighter and softer. Much easier to handle then that thick braided hose. Get some quick releases for your compressor and airbrush. You do not need to unscrew everything every time. Otherwise great work. You get beautiful results with the short time you've been using it.

Really enjoyed your video, although I confess I'm not really a beginner, I own several airbrushes, but I like watching videos for beginners since there is always something new to learn. You picked a great airbrush to showcase! As it could easily last 20+ years Some of the airbrushes made in the early 1900s are not only still around, but they work as well as when they were first made.

Thank you! I generally always use my airbrush now, it is the fastest way to get a basecoat down on the model. I use pastel for the final layers, for what I cannot achieve with the airbrush. For me personally, it is a speed factor. No need to pastel 5 layers of base when I can just airbrush it in an hour. I will be making a tutorial on pastelling in the future. A face sculpture video is in the works

Iwata don't even manufacture there airbrushes they are made for them by Fuso Seiko who also make airbrushes for Tamiya and Mr Hobby and all the 3 companies airbrushes look the same except for cosmetic differences ie styling ... Iwata didn't even design there own airbrushes they bought the rights and trademarks from Olympos airbrushes but a lot of there patents have expired ... Fuso Seiko had there own airbrush brand BB Rich Company now called RichPen ... notice how Iwata says there Airbrushes are manufactured to the highest quality and they don't use the royal "we"

Great video and thanks for doing this. It's hard to find a clear buying guide with peoples' brand preferences and encouraging spending $300+ on one's first airbrush. The only piece of advice I would add is DON'T spend $25-$30 on an airbrush. The brush will work fine until you have to clean it, and then you'll spend more time disassembling and cleaning than you will airbrushing. I made that mistake and when I finally invested $100 CAD on a Badger Patriot I found ease of use and maintenance to be the biggest plus.

I’ve used an Iwata airbrush when I taught my friend how to properly use it but I’ve been a Badger user for more than 20 years now. To me they have the same quality and Badger had come out with their top of the line airbrushes like the Badger Renegade RK-1 Krome. What I like about Badger is that I can personally bring my airbrush to their shop to be fixed in Franklin Park, Illinois and its about 45 minutes drive from my place. At times I can even wait while they fix the airbrush. Thank you for your very informative video and I will share this with my friends. Be safe

The quality of Badger is not quite up to the level of Iwata. Badger makes good brushes for Tshirt artist and model painting. But for automotive and fine art, Iwata as well as H&S, Creos, and a few others are in another league. Not that a Renegade or Sotar 20/20 aren't able to pull some very fine detail, but not with the consistency of a Micron, or infinity. A great artist can make anything work, but better tools make for less headaches. This has been my experience anyway.

That nozzle removal tool is not for the Eclipse as it has a free floating drop-in nozzle, also drain your compressor and moisture trap after EVERY session to avoid having the tank rusting inside (leave tank drain valve open when not using and tighten it to close before new session, it's placed at the bottom of the tank), also that blue lube will gunk up so get some Regdab or just use glycerine. 😉✌️

There are times I must release the delicate nozzle from the rest of the nozzle in order to clean. That is where I use the nozzle wrench. Paint gets into the threads that needs to be cleaned.

As my first best AB I purchased a PS289 0.3mm GSI Creos, using it for about 9 months, very happy. Nex two were PS290 0.5 trigger type and ps270 0.2mm. these are not cheap but reliable. For dirty painting (black paint or primer for example) I'm using cheaper ABs. These are Fengda ABs. Well, I have from Fengda almost the same setup 0.2mm Fengda BD-180, 0.5mm BD320, 0.8mm BD186, also additional parts for 0.2, 0.3, 0.5 mm needle set-up. I still have my first AB, in Poland it is called Magma AB-130E but actually it is Fengda BD130. It was my first AB (now I'm using it only for pre-shading), received it as a gift 1year ago, swapped nozzle/needle from chinese to japanese (was able to get a nozzle and needle from ps270 only for 25$) so outside it is a cheep chinese airbrush but from inside it is ps270 (of course there is a problem when it doesn't spray, so regulation of nozzle cap is needed, but all the time it works). One more AB I have (for free due to damage the delivery service did, so the store didn't have a new kit to send me and left me with money and AB kit) is NeoEco NCT-SJ83. It is cheap but it is a good quality AB. I would like to test Anest Iwata ABs but maybe later. And would like to have a Meiji MP-3 ab, I have bigger spray guns from this manufacturer Finer-Core 13 and F410 1.5mm, very satisfied. Have a good day 😉

Yes. Those are great websites as well. They offer good pricing too. However, amazon carries some products/parts. I link to amazon as a starter. If you really research you can buy them elsewhere.

Add www.spraygunner.com to that list, Great prices, they are heavier on the H&S and Badger airbrushes, Plus they carry the Creos brand, a serious competitor to IWATA, The PS-770 is 1/3 the price of a Micron, yet preforms as well.

Thanks for this video! Lots of great info that I was looking for as I consider getting one. Also, your horses look awesome! I paint minis for games and have done a handful of horses and really enjoyed doing the different patterns.

your video is sooo excellent. but i wonder if i can recommand you a new airbrush product. We have designed a cordless airbrush kit, we called it ---TM80S airbrush kit. It is very stable with a pressure about 30 psi or even 32 psi. Do you have any interest?

@DeeJayBeStudios

Not that I know of. You could try Testors Dull Cote but I believe that will mess with the colours & possibly cause finish issues.

Hi DeeJayBe, I was looking another of your videos about air compressors, and I have a few questions for you. I want to start doing fish baits and I think I’m going to buy an eclipse HD something and what I’m wondering is, can I use the airbrush with a regular but small air compressor? I have a Makita, small, y don’t remember the size but, can I?

Sounds like a HP-A, great airbrush for Nails or touch-ups, it only holds 3 to five drops of paint at a time.

Dear lady you say paint fume can course Cancer .can you please explain this in detail?
@SUMOCAT86
@SUMOCAT86 2 года назад
Everything can cause cancer, grilled food, meat, alcohol, walking in a city, anything. When painting you should wear a mask and make sure it seals into your face. But generally, spraying waterbased paints with an airbrush is pretty safe, because there is no solvents or hardeners, so you're only concerned about the dust. Overspray that comes from waterbased paints dries in the air and becomes what you can basicly call dust. You don't want that into your lungs, but it's not like inhaling 2K clearcoat which is super dangerous and will eventually kill you. It's more healthy to stay at home and paint than it is to go out and drink alcohol. Any time you paint anything you always wear a respirator and chance the filters regularly. If you do this, it's 100% safe.

I have the same compressor but without the tank, it also shuts off when you are not spraying. Your video makes it sound a lot louder than they actually are, so dont let this put you off people.... Best thing I found for cleaning the inside of the airbrush is the interdental brushes, they seem to come in the same sizes as many nozzles, 0.2 0.3 0.4mm etc and they are far softer than the nasty wire brushes you get in cleaning kits. Very nice video for people getting into airbrushing, also came here from a mini-wargaming source :-)

I believe...the airbrush was invented in the U.S. and the name was coined in 1883 which is now an artist holiday. the oldest airbrush company still around is Thayer and Chandler owned by Badger. Iwata purchased there first airbrush designs/schematics from the original Olympia company when they went out of business in Japan. I read or heard that a single Japanese manufacturer makes airbrushes for all the Japan airbrush companies. Not knocking them. Just not everyone that is someone uses them. I love Japanese quality. Bandai, Tamiya, my Camry, etc. I own Badgers, but my favorite is my German Harder and Steenbeck Infinity CR. Anyway, I got all that info on the internet so it must be true. I looked it up as part of research when looking to switch to airbrush.

You’re the first person I watched who talked about a mask, I had no idea but thankfully it’s 2020 and I have masks....will a two layer mask with a filter be good?
@jrl4907
@jrl4907 Год назад
She's right - Iwata are expensive, but they will last a long time. I've been using the same 2 Iwata HP-C's I bought in the 80's - the nickel coating is all wore off the cups but they still work flawlessly.
