In regards to it being a good frame or not, Yes.. Its a full chromoly frame that a bunch of professionals ride, from bmxer & youtuber Scotty Cramner to Harry Main before he left Hyper Bike Co...It is trusted by a lot of pros.. It might still bend and crack like any metal after enough abuse but as far as all frames on the market, it stacks up with the best.

he i dont understand the height stuff. bc im dutch in dutch we talk with CM Centimeters. im 170 Centimeters that 1 meter 1 meter is 100 centimeter and 70 centimeter. do you know what TopTube i have to use im 14 years old

+FaZe_REZQY - ESO I totally forgot to put the conversion in there. Sorry about that. I should do an updated video. Since you are 14 I'm guessing you may grow a little more in height. We suggest a TT length in the range of 20.5"-21"... Choose a 21" if you think you might grow near 182cm. It might feel long at first but it's way better to grow into a bike that is a little big instead of a bike getting too small for you in the future.

+Daniel Lion I know exactly how you feel. My points derive from the idea that not thinking about all of these things can make it worse. There are soo many different bikes that a lot of people decide they don't like the sport after buying something that doesn't really fit their needs.

Thanks man, I've always liked bikes and I've built a few from parts as a kind of hobby so I've learned a fair bit along the way just from being an amateur bike mechanic. Another frame strengthening feature you sometimes see is a machined U shaped piece where the chainstays meet the bottom bracket shell (usually aluminium frames rather than steel though) called a yoke. I don't own a bmx but I'm interested in getting one so I thought I would look for some bmx information and found your helpful videos.

The only difference in a custom build is that you bought all the parts separate.. custom bike builds have the same geometries and top tube lengths with the same type of parts to interchange.. it's actualy a waste of money to build custom for your first bmx bike.

But yes you are right. Custom bikes can be tailored to you better but that's dependent upon your rider skill and knowledge. Most people buying their first bike has no idea what it feels like to have different part geometries. So it wouldn't make a difference to them until they learn a trick or two.

+DeadGamer Welcome to the channel! I suggest choosing a bike with a top tube size between 19.75" & 20in. Since you are a beginner you can choose a bike with a partial chromoly frame.. When you get better at bmx you should graduate to a full Chromoly set up but for now a partial chromoly will work. A full Chromoly set up will be listed as "full chromoly" in the sale description but those bikes are more expensive. An affordable bike good enough to start bmx with say things like 5 tube CRMO or Chromoly triangle in the sale description.. Stay away from bikes that have a full Hi-Tensile steel frame.

+Chris Lee you have a lot of choices at your size. You can either choose an 18in wheel bike that will more fit your size or you can just choose a 20in wheel BMX bike with the shortest (Top tube TT) frame.. At 70lbs you won't put any stress on most bikes. All most anything you choose as long as it's not totally cheap will hold up until you put on some more weight.

+mKayo Usually if you have to ask that question at all than you should just buy a complete bike and customize it over time. A complete bike can be just as good as a custom build. Generally people who buy custom builds are ones that all ready know exactly what styles they like to ride.. There is no need to build custom unless you want specific part sizes or just dont mind spending all the extra money...

+That Guy Yea buying bigger isn't a problem. Buying too small is the real problem because you will be hitting your knees into the stem and handlebars often.. I know a couple people your height that prefer a 21 anyway... 21 is a popular standard so if you get comfortable with it you will have a lot of replacment frames to choose from later on.

+Nickyboy017 Gaming There are tons of bikes in that price range, all most too many to list here.. Most bikes in that price range will be similar in quality as long as you choose a reputable company.. Fiction Biked.. Sunday bikes.. Mafia bikes.. Fit bikes.. Rant bmx.. Etc... (use danscomp.com as a catalog to reference & don't choose a race bike.. They are not strong enough for freestyle bmx)

+Edward Kammermann It's really just a preference these days.. Riding no brakes is not advised but from an enthusiast standpoint there can be advantages. Brakes open up a lot of trick possibilities but no brakes looks clean and doesn't give you trouble.

I have not made any trick guides yet but I plan to really soon. If you stick with it you will end up learning tricks faster than you could imagine. It just takes time in practicing them. Everything I learned depended on how much I really wanted to learn it. If I tried a trick thousands of times I ended up learning it quicker than tricks I just tried every once in a while.

Yes no problem.. I'm actually the same height so this will be easy. *Frame: Choose a TT between 20.5" & 21.25"... I personally ride a 21" TT because it's really common & fits me good. Don't choose any shorter than a 20.5 because at our height we can hit our knees easy on the stem.. *Handlebars: Usually a preference but taller bars can make taller riders more comfortable. I ride 10" rise bars but a lot of people consider them too big. I suggest bars in the 9"-9.5" range.

+Clid Aluminum should be minimal on a freestyle bmx bike.. The only thing that should be aluminium on a "freestyle" bike is the wheels, stem and sprocket. An aluminium frame would be more suited for expert bmx racing. Bmx racing and bmx freestyle bikes are a lot different from eachother.

I made my list to try and prevent beginners from spending too much money... At 14 you still have some growing & sizing a bike specifically for your height isn't the best right now. You will out-grow a 17.5" in 6 months or less. Get a bike in the 19" TT range. I know a kid your height & age that rides a 21"... Between learning and growing up he will be riding the same bike, instead of adapting to new sizes every year.

We feel that it's best to teach what is needed to know so you can try and decide what companies you like to ride from buying their products and using them yourself. Bmx can be confusing because there are soooooo many parts to a bike and tons of products to choose from.. If you watch a lot of my videos you will notice there are really 2 main types of bmx bikes. The most expensive bikes out there, similar to what the pros ride, will be made out of mostly Chromoly tubing. These bikes will say "100% chromoly" in the description. As a beginner you can save some money buy buying a partial chromoly bike which will say things like this in the description: "5 tube crmo", "Chromoly triangle", "Chromoly DT & TT". I suggest a 20.5in frame for your height. If you have not checked them out yet try looking on these sites for respectable bikes. If a bike is total crap these sites won't carry it: www.danscomp.com or www.albes.com.

+GiantFtw - Roblox There are 2 main types of bikes. Full chromoly & partial chromoly. Professionals ride full chromoly set ups. (Frame, forks & handlebars made from 100% full chromoly). Partial chromoly biked are there to give you a good starting package with out taking all of your money.. Try going to danscomp.com to search a list of good BMX bikes and brands.

+Ryan Small I'm the same height as you and I feel like a 21in is perfect. Any shorter and we will end up hitting our knees on the stem & they don't make very many bikes over 21. Choose a 21 because it's a perfect for our height and one of the most common sizes with a ton of choices. I Recommend going to your local shop first to support them but if you can not try going to Https://www.albes.com or Https://www.danscomp.com If you do go to a local bike shop you can use those 2 websites as a price comparison to what they have in store.

and @ 5:55 are you talking about the wheel size or the top tube size?

+Rexiile A 21in Top tube would be about right. I wouldn't choose anything shorter than a 20.5in or you may hit your knees a lot.. At 5.55 I'm mentioned the difference between 20in, 24 & 26in wheel size bikes if you are over 6ft.

You won't find too many bikes for that price but as long as you do not buy a walmart quality bike you should be fine. Check out Albes.com or Danscomp.com - Go to the freestyle/street sections of bikes. All the brands on those sites are BMX worthy brands.

+ELITE GAMER This is a common problem with younger riders because it's like clothes. If you bought a bike that fit you perfectly now you will grow out of it in 6 months or more... What we generally suggest in that case is to buy a bike that has a 20in top tube... 20-21 in top tunes are the most popular and its best to learn on one. When you grow into it you will be able to ride it better and not have to graduate to a different size later down the road... In BMX it's best to stick with a size and learn on it as opposed to changing sizes every year because the change can really shift your learning process of tricks.

+Andrew 2784 No. The top tube sizes are strictly for rider height... Heavier riders should use a full Chromoly set up. A heavier rider needs full chromoly because the chain stays are prone to bending on other types of bikes. The heavier the rider, the more force the bike sees when doing tricks. But 130 pound is not considered heavy for a bmx bike.. You are fine choosing most models.
