Very helpful video. I just bought a 53 Ford custom line with the 239 and it runs and drives fine .

Make sure you only buy Walker or Brassworks radiators. If you don't spend enough money your vehicle will catch fire. If you buy an aluminum radiator your vehicle will catch fire. If you buy a used Ford radiator your vehicle will catch fire.

WALKER RADIATORS went out of business years ago. If you're going to be smart... follow through.

What are your thoughts on using a block that has been pinned and sleeved due to cracks between valves and cylinders? Thats my situation. My machine shop guy says it'll be fine
@THEFLATSPOT
@THEFLATSPOT 4 месяца назад
Yes, you should be totally OK. I have had a block with all 8 cylinders sleeved, and it worked great. You should have any issues. Sleeves are better than they used to be.

Would a single carb aluminum 8BA intake assist in reducing carb temps or no? I have a 5/8 phenolic spacer between the intake and carb in my heat passages are blocked in carbs still getting pretty hot. I'm finding it hard to start after it's been shut down for a little while

2 things is to pull the intake and put in to plugs where the exhaust heat risers are. Or if you think your getting vapor lock symptoms also check to make sure your coil isn't getting to hot. Often that is what is causing the hard to start issue.

@THEFLATSPOT
@THEFLATSPOT 6 дней назад
4 1/8 inch stroke, full port and polish, Tattersfield Full Race Heads, Magneto, Champion Supercharger kit, Manly valves, Schneider S1 Cam, Isky lifters, H&H main caps, Full oil passage upgrade. You might be able to get close to 200hp.

3.75 Stroke on a Ford Flathead... 3.1875 is the bore on a 339/355 motor.
