Well, I can tell you've been on the business end of the buzz saw a time or two. And that rig of your cousins is certainly unique and it works quite well !! We had some major size slabs off the old circle mill back home to contend with. And our old rig on the front of the tractor was a slide top and not a tilt top, so you strained your guts out.

I really am getting a bit warmed up to the Farmall. We always were Massey guys, but she IS growing on me a bit. I'd like her a lot better if I'd take the time to install the NOS fenders that I got with it. I prefer fenders for some reason Russ. I'm glad to hear you're still on the same one for so many years !!

I just luv those H's when they're running smooth. Great steel in the older machines, and they were built right, all those yrs ago. Great Vid, Wendell. Isn't it surprising how quik work can be done, when you are experienced and have the proper tools. That was great Wendell those old wood cutters are the best way to cut up wood and the slabs make great fire wood and you are using up all the wood the guy up the road has a saw mill and mills a lot of cedar people come from all around to buy slabs from him he was charging 5 dollars a load years ago for a half ton truck load but he put in a wood boiler for his shop and house so he burns a lot of them now but still has people coming to buy them for old farmall sounds good take care have a great week
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 Год назад
We always tried to keep the slab wood to split small for the kitchen cook stove. Nice and easy to split, and if it wasn't it'd go to the King Heater in the front room along with the heating wood. A lot of the sawmills sold slabs by the pickup load...but we burned all ours and so far, I still do here too. Thanks for the visit today my friend....sorry I have been really running behind.

Very nice Wendell, I will check out your friends channel from NC, I hoped to see what is the meaning of the short pieces that you saw, is that for fire starters?? thanks and the H runs like a dream
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 Год назад
Yes, those really short ones are the selective soft woods that split easily into kindling. I mix 'em into the firewood pile so there's always a supply carried inside during the heating season. Ready to split and stack in the kindling box.

Well, I saw or split until it falls out of the shed, then stop and stack....then repeat the exercise. LOL Notice the splits behind me that fell out of the other section? Its almost full to the hilt so once I get that bit stacked, I'll get serious on this middle section here.

Gotta question for tm44. Does Sassafras get harder as it ages. A neighbor I used to have made me a mantle clock outta Sassafras. Beautiful wood, he said after the wood ages it would be like a locust post it'd get more hard. Thanks my friend.

Never ran a buzz saw but might look for one for the old 39 jd b , been burning a lot of slab ash hickory and cherry
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 Год назад
Well, once you get it set up and sharpened good, you will enjoy sawing slabs with it Neil. There IS a learning curve and you don't want to pinch the blade...it'll toss the belt in a hurry. Plus you gotta keep the area around your feet clear !!
@thecollectoronthecorner7061
We have ne of those buzz saws. To save on fuel. I was thinking of using a large single cyl wisconsin engine to power it? Maybe need to attach a heavy flywheel to maintain momentum?
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 Год назад
Yes, that's helps a lot but the bad thing is it gets in the way of the long slabs. I have a couple of them in the woods fitted with a cast flywheel. I think one of them has a real little blade, like 24'' or so. I'm sure it was run off a make and break motor, because it too is a stationary rig.

I like the subtitles. I guess it would be less of a chance for the woods kickback compared to a chainsaw. When you said something about falling forward into the blade headfirst. I thought that would give you a splitting headache 😔. Okay I had to throw in one of those anger but I'm ashamed of myself because this is really something not to joke around about. Even though you did. I'm just speaking about myself. But it is good to see that you have all your fingers and hands and stuff. I kept thinking 🤔 different words for give off great aroma. Also it's interesting from the angle you showed just how much more suffer it is to cut that oak than the sassafras. Well we know oak as harder to cut but he demonstrated it quite well with the camera angle. Like usual on my part. One other thing. I enjoy watching you run that blade with your Farmall. Takes me back to the old movies and seeing some of the people do this in real life over the decades. If you set this up at the old threshers I bet you'd be a hit. Have an enjoyable day.
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 Год назад
Hahahaha...splitting headache !! Good one. LOL There's a lot of difference in many of the wood types in the way they saw up. Sassafras and red cedar are very easy as well as cherry and walnut. Green elm wants to close up and pinch the blade and old dead and dry oak is hard as a rock sometimes. I saw your '56 shorts, but the Missus was ready for us to take a little trip so I didn't get to leave a reply yet. Why was the one video distorted so bad..??
@CAROLDDISCOVER-1983

@@tractorman4461 we put out two videos of that car yesterday. I believe one of them went to the long side. One went to the short side for sure. There's one showing the interior little bit and the dash. There's another one where I pulling it out to get it back over on the gravel. The rotten tires I keep on it are part of the motif. I did not show what was underneath the hood. Let's just say it's a later model V8 and it's not stock. That is the reason why it's a sleeper. My wife name is a tetanus shot 💉. You should see that thing with the slicks on the back. And the whole shot-at does coming down the quarter. The tetanus shot is obvious it's rusted looking but that car is pretty solid simple one little spot on the floorboards. Did see the bullet holes? Okay well I think they destroyed it one was something we were trying with a filter to give it a unique look. I don't think it worked out that well on this one. Thanks for looking at it. Tuesday is Toyota Tuesday. I post Toyotas and just foreign cars in general on Tuesday. Surprised at the views I get on them

@brycewiborg8095 Год назад
Don't know if you have used the idiot saw on really cold days ? We would let the blade spin to allow the frost to work out of the blade. Then Dad would tap it on the side while it was turning. It made a different sound if the blade had a crack.
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 Год назад
@@brycewiborg8095 Heck yeah, we used 'em throughout the year Bryce. In all weather except the rain ! Snow was the worst. But yes, there is a difference in the sound tapping a cracked blade.
