#BVLGARIWATCHES #OCTO #OCTOFINISSIMO ‪@bvlgariofficial‬
With this 4K-video we present you the new Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Titanium (case thickness 6,9 mm) and the new Bvlgari Octo Finissimo S Chronograph GMT (case thickness 8,75 mm). Both chronographs are ultra-thin and as we think simply beautiful. The watches are powered by the automatic Bvlgari in-house, ultra-thin caliber BVL 318 with a peripheral rotor (total thickness only 3,3 mm!!)
The Bvlgari Octo Finissimo was a rule breaker from the moment it was presented in 2014. Since then it has continued to redefine the boundaries of style and modernity with every new edition. The Bvlgari Octo Finissimo is a bold alternative to the established codes of traditional men’s timepieces, it is set apart by its eight-sided ultra-thin design, an intersection of circle and square inspired by Rome’s architectural wonders, which is rendered throughout the line in minimalist, mainly monochrome aesthetic.
In the watch industry we say: Every decade has its iconic design. Since 2014 it is the decade of the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo. No other watch-design presented since even comes close to it...
The element that separates the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo design from any other is its thinness, which set six (!) world records in six years, including in 2014 the world’s thinnest tourbillon, in 2016 the thinnest minute repeater, in 2017 the thinnest automatic watch, in 2018 the thinnest automatic tourbillon, in 2019 the thinnest automatic chronograph and in 2020 the thinnest tourbillon chronograph.
Bvlgari says: "This ia an unparalleled feat of avant-garde technology and Swiss expertise, its remarkable proportions are an extraordinary achievement of watchmaking innovation, a story of precision and determination powerful enough to shift the paradigm of men’s watchmaking. Octo Finissimo’s unconventional approach extends to its aesthetic and thoroughly modern design as well; the collection is known for its use of uncommon materials such as titanium and ceramic."

Unfortunately still many watch aficionados aren’t aware of these watches... but once they get in contact many fall in love with the Octo Finissimo...

I've got both the Octo Finissimo Automatic in steel (black dial) and the Octo Finissimo (S) Chronograph GMT in steel. I would prefer the titanium version of the Chrono, but I am using the Chrono for travel and I wanted the 100m water resistance. For me, the magic of these two watches (and, indeed, of all the Octo Finissimo watches) is the striking boldness of their design. Very original in their overall design concept. These watches have a totally different feel to me than Royal Oak and similar. I find the Finissimos to be wonderfully elegant in a genuinely masculine way. I can't really evaluate the movements but they are acclaimed from a technical standpoint and they also have a certain aesthetic appeal to my tastes. Finally, the Automatic in steel is discussed sometimes as a 'sports watch'. I don't see it. For me it is much too elegant for everyday wear - it's my dress watch (I've purchased a Bulgari black leather strap for it - I found changing out the bracelet was a little hard to do - maybe that accounts for the bent springbar on the Chrono in the video! ) . In terms of utility, the Chrono S is not quite perfect for me - I'd prefer a date complication over the chronograph and absolutely keep that wonderfully convenient 2nd timezone feature. Thanks for the review, WatchAdvisor, and I agree, Octo Finissimo is the design of the decade!

A great review Alexander! I completely agree with you with regard to the length of the second hand and my detail OCD with the sub second marking would drive me nvts with the installed 1/8th second chronograph movement where this face requires a 1/5th or a high beat 1/10th to read it correctly. I love the slim design and that radial automatic winding weight that moves around the outside of the movement looks fantastic. I also think that this is one of those "Marmite" designs (people in the UK will understand this but for those who do not it's a love or hate) I think people will have quite polarising views on the octagonal layered design. Whilst I'm OK with an octagonal face the different layers to these pieces have just a little bit too much going on for my taste. I also think the Omega GMT adjustment on some of there designs (hour leap instead of quick date) with the pull crown is better as I feel the button could be operated by accident and you end up being an exact hour early for appointments. Case switched second times can work great, the JLC Reverso Duoface for example conceals the hour adjuster when the face is flipped flat. So in summary these two pieces are not currently on my ever changing watch list however I completely respect those who decide to pull the trigger and make that purchase.
@WatchAdvisor
@WatchAdvisor 3 года назад
Thank you for you very detailed feedback! I would be among those pulling the trigger Dir the titanium chronograph. I love this design! I own a three-hand-Finissimo and it ranks among my absolute favorite watches. Once on your wrist it melts with it and you start forgetting that you wear a watch. So thin, fits under all sleeves... simply stunning... at least for me. The “disadvantage” with the push piece at “3” isn’t really one, since it needs some “force” to push/change the hour-setting...
@stevenuk
@stevenuk 3 года назад
The quick-set hour hand is FANTASTIC. The Octo Chronos I think, do look much better. The thin aspect of them I can't see the attraction and it does lose case strength, the thin cases can bend, but I am sure the thicker models are fine. The steel chrono is definitely the best looking for me. The peripheral automatic movement is very clever.
@WatchAdvisor

I prefer the ultra thin versions. I like this feeling of "nothing" on my wrist... Once you start wearing an Octo Finissimo it melts with your wrist and becomes part of it... No other watch I know deliveries a comparable haptic ...

I love the look of the Piaget and almost bought the Ultimate Automatic 910P in rose gold. I'm concerned about the movement reliability and robustness of the overall watch though. And the fact that the sole authorised AD was offering 25% off suggests they're not selling so well. Beautiful watch though. I also had a VIP viewing of the Ultimate Concept but apart from the amazing dimensions I prefer the look of the Altiplano.
@jrwong23
@jrwong23 3 года назад
@@davidjb3671 time will tell if my 900P movement stands the test of time. The AUC is another league ! Piaget seems to sell their high jewelry quite easily compared to their watches each time I visit their boutique. Not selling watches that fast in some ways is good (my selfish standpoint haha) as that makes the Altiplanos more exclusive 😉

@@WatchAdvisor I will do, but with 5 months between the announcement and stocks likely to appear in the AD's many potential buyers will likely have forgotten about it by then. It was the same with the first steel versions released last year - announced in January but the blue dial model wasn't delivered till mid-July, though I believe the black dial model was available a bit earlier. It seems crazy to me announcing a watch that you can't actually deliver till half a year later, though I guess most people on the Rolex waitlist would dream of being able to get a watch that fast... 😏

I like the titanium version more, and especially the one with titanium bracelet and will probably buying one relatively soon! Great review, as always. Thanks for sharing! Is it an optical illusion or a malfunction of my eyes: the bezel of the blue steel sports Bulgari Octo seems to be larger/bulkier, but I guess, this is not the case, right Alexander? And: did you feel or notice any sharpness at lugs and on your wrist? There's is another RU-vidr complaining about sharpness on the underside of the Octo-Finissimo case. Many thanks!
@WatchAdvisor
@WatchAdvisor 3 года назад
The bezel is bigger - yes. The entire ”S“ is a little bigger - yes. 1 mm more case diameter and thicker of course. This is due to the fact that the “S” is waterproof 100 meters... I mention this in the video and explain the case differences... And NO there were NO sharp edges on the two watches. It seems to become trendy to launch a HOAX to get more attention ... Same happened with the Speedmaster and there are as well no sharp edges... Some RU-vidr seem to have so less to say that they need to create just anything to fill their videos with words ... Crazy!

@@WatchAdvisor Well now you know why . Because it seems like a very good watch specifications-wise but i do not see any channels in the western community talking about it. So i am just merely suggesting you to make a review since you're a genuine guy and is one of the best watch youtubers who really knows about timepieces in my opinion because you have many years of experience in the watch industry.

Thinking of replacing my DJ41 with the Octo S Chrono. But I want a date and the incorrect graduation annoys me! Any other suggestions for a steel watch under £15k? Unfortunately the Tonda PF and Czapek Antartique are out of budget but I love them.
@WatchAdvisor

You should still try the Octo on your wrist before taking any other decisions … there is no other watch that compares to it… let your heart decide it won’t lie… my tip: don’t buy rational but emotional…

they look amazing, still have to try the SS because I really like the bracelet, and when compared to the competitors, the price seems almost reasonable, however, that the titanium version is priced equally while not featuring an integrated bracelet and providing barely any water resistance is an interesting choice

the best to do is as you wrote to try the chronographs on ones wrist... Only then you know which one is the one to buy... Keep us posted please and give us feedback to the Finissiomo chronographs when you have some...

My polar exp 2 wears like a feather. Bet this one does too. However the shape seems like a real waste of precious real estate. Still, I love the titanium one 🤠

What's the accuracy in these movements
@WatchAdvisor
@WatchAdvisor 3 года назад
In between the range of COSC -4/+6 seconds… but the watches are not certified…
@craik7
@craik7 3 года назад
@@WatchAdvisor I just fail to understand why a prestigious luxury watch brand such as bvlgari will not COSC certify their top of the line movements at least.. cutting cost? They need to build a reputation for accuracy similar to that of Rolex, for example. They really need to follow on Breitling's footsteps.. "To earn chronometer certification, a movement must not only be made from the highest quality components, but also be the object of special care on part of the finest watchmakers and timers during assembly" - source: COSC Wikipedia.... I guess that explains it!
@WatchAdvisor
@WatchAdvisor 3 года назад
@@craik7 COSC certified does not mean much these days… it just says that the movement alone was able to perform in between-4/+6 seconds a day under various conditions… A relevant testing includes the entire assembled, ready to sell watch after the movement alone was COSC certified. Rolex is testing its watches that way as well as Omega. Rolex does internal tests -2/+2 seconds and Omega does tests observed by METAS, the Swiss Institute of Metrology 0/+5 seconds. Rolex calls it’s watches Superlative Chronometer and Omega Master Chronometer. IMHO only fully assembled watches should be tested to get a relevant and valuable quality seal … testing the movement alone is not worth doing it… please click on the link to get some insights about Master Chronometer … the process of certification of mechanical watches is in accordance with the METAS requirements N001 www.metas.ch/metas/en/home/dok/rechtliches/Zertifizierung_Uhren.html
