In the third episode of BX Basics we're talking about pallet forks. Probably the most versatile implement for any front end loader. We'll also briefly go over some do's and don't with the SSQA (Skid Steer Quick Attach)

Good morning Sam! Another great episode in the BX Basics series. Well presented demonstrations and great tips throughout the video. I really like the one of keeping your feet clear when attaching and detaching the pallet forks, which will apply to all other implements / attachments. This series is definitely beneficial for all tractor owners and those thinking of becoming one. Thanks for the recognition of the comment I left in the last video. Have a great day!

Thank you very much, as always! There's always so much to think about and wondering if I'm covering everything I should. But, this is just basics. I really appreciate all of the comments, especially if I miss something. I think one more episode about the 3 point hitch and I'll move on. 🤠👍

Good stuff Sam. One thing i really like about SSQA is you can see the locking levers from the seat. One time with my Deere, I forgot to install the lower locking pins on the grapple then I dropped the grapple went I was trying to dump a log. 😣 I had used it for 3 years before making a dumb mistake like that. You just can't see the locks from the seat with JDQA.

Thank you so much! I made the same dumb mistake while using the bucket. I had it sitting on the ground and was filling it with rocks by hand, then when I picked it up with the tractor an went to dump it, I dropped the entire bucket into a hole 😂 Live and learn! 🤠👍

Another great video. Took me a couple of days to get to it! I'm glad to hear that there's a garden in the future! I just tilled mine the other day! I thought maybe your load was a bit high when moving the fence. But you pointed out when moving the cement to always carry your load low. One of the basics i learned when I learned to use a tow motor! I don't have a grapple, and only clamp on forks, but man I have used them a lot! And yes, I can scoop up a lot of brush with them! BTW, if the weather cooperates, I'll be taking my RK24 to school Thursday, for FFA 'drive your tractor to school' day! 😉

Thank you again! The fence load was much lighter, but I see what you're saying. It was a bit high. Love the traditions us rural folks have. Gotta keep that going. It's what built America 🇺🇸 🤠👍

Great point on standing on the implement. I have a plate that doesn’t want to go flush for the pins. Also, I paint a 1/4” vertical white stripe on my loader and implements to line things up visually.

Thank you! Great idea with the white stripe 👌 🤠👍

Great video Sam! I have been going side to side for releases and got kinda caught like you did, but wasn't bad so just kept my feet free now, but seeing this on the bucket is a great idea indeed! Also, guess I need to get some forks now! Massey Ferguson GC1725M here, great little tractors no matter which one you get, a lot of help when a person needs it!

Thank you very much! I'm so glad to see owners of different brands like yourself tuning in. I never would have guessed how much I would use my forks. They're probably on the tractor more than my bucket 🤠👍

Just move to a new shop. Must stuff was placed on wood pallets and shrink wrapped. Used my BX to put the pallets on my trailer. So much nicer than using a hand truck.

One of the items I made sure to get when I ordered my BX2680 was the SSQA. I knew I'd want other attachments for the loader, and having the SSQA means any attachment within reason the tractor can operate I can use on my BX. I knew I wanted pallet forks, my mistake was I couldn't wait for my dealer to get the Land Pride Pallet Forks for the sub-compact tractor, so I contacted Messick's and ordered a set of Titan forks, they work fine, but they're probably close to 100 pounds heavier than the proper forks, so I lost a lot of lift capacity as a result. I'd love to order the right size forks, but can't afford to. I only have the loader bucket and pallet forks right now, but at some point I'd love to get a grapple, and possibly an angle blade for snow removal.

You can pretty much do everything a grapple does with pallet forks but you'll have to get out of the seat more often. Don't get me wrong, I love the grapple especially for tree work 🤠👍

This hasn’t been handled well by the industry. 2021 BX2380, first tractor, dealer sold me Land Pride 2042 forks weighing 306#. Last month I traded them in for LP1242 at 220#. My BX likes stuff around 150-175#. LP should offer a LP1036 model to get below 200#. They work but wouldn’t have snagged that concrete pallet. Next move is to swap the lift cylinders for HydrosPlus. They will add 250# additional and should be everything I need (LA464 capacity).

@@craigguinn5423 Trying to get pallet forks for a sub-compact tractor seems to be quite the challenge....I have no idea what the Titan pallet fork frame and forks that I have weigh, but they weigh enough that it drastically decreases the lift capacity of my BX2680 for sure. The 36" forks would be fine, as well as a much lighter weight frame. The problem is I already spent the $1000 on what I already have, and can't afford to buy another set of pallet forks and a frame, so I'm stuck with what I have.

Not to mention, but clamp on tines push your load out another 16 to 20 inches, affecting the balance of the tractor. Nice series!

Very good point! Yeah, not a fan of clamp on forks. Thank you 🤠👍

The BX is not great at one thing but, it’s good at a lot of things! I call them the “Swiss Army pocket knives “ of tractors. 😉
