I've had mine nearly two years and apart from the interior styling which I'm not too keen on, personal taste before anybody chimes in, I absolutely love the car. I'm waiting for the new Seal 07 SUV to arrive in Australia and I'll get one of those as well.

It is unreal, early last year when I got my Atto3, almost no one around me know this brand at all. Now, totally different, many people ask BYD when they see me, and many people know the brand. The seal performance is an amazing car, so so good, very impressive. Not only power, but suspension, 4x4 respond, luxury and comfortable.

Mercedes after 2-3 years are expensive basket cases. I have a E53 AMG now just spent $11,300AUD on repairs which is a 2021 model just out of warranty.

Sold my Porsche Boxster GTS.... Didn't want to, but wife made the call. But bought a BYD Seal, and I am very happy with it. Now the baby can come along for the ride : ) Best part is i paying about 40 dollars a month in electric to drive fast all the time .

Had the porsche boxster 2004 December made for 11 years, only sold it dirt cheap because the engine blew EMS problems. Even though spent a fortune to keep it on the road. The seal is a solid car much better made than my current Mercedes E53 AMG

@@amjedali5164 I got lucky. I only had 3 issues... The fuel flap got stuck. Break padel got stuck when it got hot, and finally the GPS Nav system hard disk crashed. Porsched wanted 5K to replace it. Mmmm... come to think of it.... I am not so lucky. I still love that car tho.... BUT Hello BYD : P

I bought the Han (the 4WD version) in France a few months ago, my favorite, people stop me to ask for the model, I previously had an infiniti hybrid, very reliable and that I liked a lot, much more reliable than the mercedes and bmw I had previously!

Honda/atlas group (joint venture) in Pakistan are having a lot of troubles as a tsunami of Chinese brands are establishing themself in the market with more coming. Honda, Toyota and Suzuki had easy 90% of the market share for a good 45years in the country both cars and motorcycles, but things are changing rapidly as Chinese cars age and show there actually good the whole Japanese car reliability is going out the window as Japanese cars built after 2020 are showing so many problems both in Pakistan and Australia (where there overpriced, how does a near top model Toyota Yaris Cross cost $62K??AUD yet the MG ZS EV for $34,999AUD is too expensive)

There's actually a few non car companies. e.g, real estate and other industries that are run by $billionares looking into investing in start ups in pakistan as cars are extremely expensive and have a huge mark up. The MG4 is a great car, but it is 3× to 4× the price than Australia, where the car is imported not assembled locally.

Because the company's keep having links deleted. One I saw was myself was 24/5/24 coming out of the lane cove tunnel a Toyota Kruger non hybrid on fire. Also Victoria road a non hybrid Toyota yaris on fire in January 2024

It should be game over. At its core, BYD is an engineering company, with more R&D engineers than all US-based automakers combined. Engineers are great at solving problems. Politicians are great at creating problems. Unfortunately, the politicians seem to be winning lately.

? I thought BYD only made electric cars- that's already a pretty niche market in the US, and if the mandates and subsidies go away next year, it's going to be even smaller. The best selling vehicle is the F150, I doubt Ford is too worried about Chinese 'competition'!

@@crm114. new solid state batteries are being rolled out. Not big enough for pure BEV’s, but, perfect for PHEV’s . They are also perfect for normal hybrids. When the hybrids are powered by net zero fuels then maybe BEV and PHEV’s become obsolete.

Norway does not have extra taxes on Chinese cars. BYD has so far in 2024, 1.9% market share of EVs. Tesla 18.1%. The share of BYD appears to be decreasing in Norway. I suspect that many BYDs are registered at the dealers as in Norway. They are not out on the road.

I went to the local byd display centre a couple of weeks ago. I thought the seal was gorgeous, the salesman said they can't sell them. No one wants them. I was there to look at the dolphin, not the seal but if I wanted a sedan at least on looks it would be on my list.

It took Ford from 1908 to 1924 to reduce the cost of the Model-T from ~US$30,000 (back then that was US$ 850 in 1908) to ~US$5,000 (which was around US$250 in 1924). Will happen to BEVs in 12 years as well.

If you do not think BYD is cutting edge, I would look into the SiC power electronics of the Sea Lion. And that is for the existing 3.0 EVO platform. The 4.0 platform launches this month.

Largely agree. I had a MY RWD until it was written off last year. I did enjoy many aspects of the car apart from the darned awful suspension even though it was the latest 'comfort' version. My BYD Atto 3 blows it away with its ride quality. The software on the Tesla is awesome, the seating and general comfort/space inside is all missed. Tesla are going to have to speed up the new MY Juniper version otherwise I'm buying the BYD Seal 07 instead.

If you're in China it's less important, Geely can just build factories close to CATL to achieve largely the same effect. It's up to CATL to provide operating leverage to its customers with R&D spend (so the same spend doesn't have to be duplicated repeatedly in different companies)

A new study published in Nature Communications investigates the risk of crossing four interconnected tipping points under different “policy-relevant” future emissions scenarios. The authors investigate the risk of tipping where warming temporarily overshoots 1.5C, but global temperatures are then brought back down using negative emissions technologies that do not currently exist. They find that the longer the 1.5C threshold is breached, and the higher the peak temperature, the greater the risk of crossing tipping points. A more unfavorable scenario in the study sees global warming hit 3.3C by the end of the century, in line with the current climate policies of 2020, before dropping back below 1.5C over 2100-2300. Under this pathway, there is a 55% chance of crossing tipping points before 2300, the authors say. The authors also warn that if global temperatures rise above 2C, the additional risk of tipping for every extra increment of warming very strongly accelerates. For temperatures between 1.5C and 2C, the risk increases by 2-2.5% for every 0.1C increase in overshoot temperature. However, for temperatures above 2.5C, tipping risk increases to 3.5% per 0.1C of overshoot.

PHEV was always the stepping stone. No one on RU-vid has been saying this. Everyone has been telling everyone to buy a pure EV.s. I have been saying this for months on this channel. Sam was dismissing them as not real EVs. What does this mean? Internal combustion will live on for another 20 years.

Given how fast charging is improving and how fast battery prices are dropping, I doubt there will be much demand for PHEVs 10 years from now. BEVs will soon be cheaper than PHEVs. Combine that with 15 minute charge times and it will be game over for PHEVs.

@amosbatto3051 Thats my point. Attacking Western auto makers is their prerogative. The result is more emissions & more gas cars around for longer. It's not really helping the climate situation. They say that a gas car is ahead of a pure EV until it's done 75,000 miles. I plug in hybrid is going to push that out to 150,000 miles. For many people, that would be close to 20 years of running. If the PHEV gets sold second hand at an affordable price, they are still going to be around for a long time. If the Chinese had stuck to pure electric, it would have been a slower ramp up, but at least we would get rid of ICE cars quicker. Its clear to me that China has no interest in the environment & we should not buy their cars. This will definitely reduce emissions substantially.

The biggest problem with EVs is the fire hazard. The BYD blade battery is know for its safety. This is the main reason why people buy BYD EVs. People used to buy Toyota autos because they were reliable, not because they were best at performance. Most people would prefer a greater peace of mind from fire hazard over faster charging speed.

@@johnfrancis4401 third problem here in us is charging, one of the big advantages of ev is fuel (electric costs). home charging in southern california at .20/kw = about .05/mile. go to a pay charger even tesla and you go to.64/kw about .16/mile. if you have an ice that gets about 30mpg gas at 5/gallon it costs about the same per mile as pau chargers. they are really going to have to get these batteries far more efficient and lighter to survive imo

@@fredrose111 The problem you referred to about the parity of cost between using public chargers and petrol is true in the UK also. Both cost about 20p per mile ($0.25 per mile). I’m hoping increased competition will force the price of those public chargers down….especially competition from supermarkets that want to attract you to do shopping there.

recently the ratio of byd sales of plugins has reversed from about 15/9 bev/phev to about the opposite 15/9 phev to bv, that sounds to me like a real threat to evs. what do you think?

While this is all good news for EVs you should acknowledge that the Chinese government wants to (a) give a huge boost to their EV industry and (b) reduce the very nasty smog problem in their major cities. They are doing this (in part) by making it very difficult to register new ICE cars. As I understand it, you basically have to prove to the government why you need to have an ICE before you can get registration. So it can't really be classified as market-led growth.

Its just a registion restriction apply to only mega cities like beijing, and its just requires more money to registrr a ICE car, shanghai, apparently it worked well for both the environment and the EV industry

I currently own a model 3 which Im very happy with. My next car will either be a BYD or Xpeng. Not gonna buy a Tesla as long as that clown of a man child is running the show. Neither does it seem many will since sales for Tesla has been down 2 quarters in a row despite massive discounts

Actually, they have been selling in large scale for a while in China. Most taxi in China are BYD ev, and many of them are over 500,000km.

Hey electric Viking, have you heard about that toyota, aw man I love my self some of that Toyota 😂 if saying this gets electric Viking mental it’s a plus. I think pure battery will go out in history, I’m looking at GM’s compressed air engine, if they were able to add some PHEV mechanism with small 50km battery, a vacuum intake to suck in filtered air while driving. Maybe another design is small amount of hydrogen and battery plus air engine. It’s just gotta be one of those things from GM, great ideas, much like GM phev design which becomes inspiration for BYD and Toyota, but eventually will be replaced with cheaper manufacture simply because union and stuff, musk is kinda right, union kills North American manufacturing(push union to be more productive is like telling business man to not make money, must need a good reason) Anyways.. WOW Toyota is just the way to go, man I these videos makes me like Toyota more and more😂

The Chinese are having a far better work life balance than you might think. Most of the heavy work are done by robots that doesn't need to sleep. Staffs are getting fat pay & bonuses at a time western workers are hanging on to their job by a thin thread.

That’s where evs are going solid batteries and drive units.the rest of the components will cost them pennies but will charge big bucks and high flat rates.so service actually starts making money along with low payed flat bay technicians doing the service.eliminate costly parts and skilled mechanics.
