THIS MIGHT HELP SOME WITH SIDELOAD ISSUES - Finally got around to having another go - after plugging my phone into the front USB port to charge it, I realised that the front USB port did not work. Tried the rear USB and It charges ok. So logic says the front USB is not working. (Tried the rear port for the side loading but no go). Pulled the side cover off for the "hidden" usb port access but can't see where the front port connects to the brains without pulling the car apart. Then I noticed that I had previously installed an SD card in the SD slot. Why not pull that out in case in case?? SD out, plugged the USB stick in the front port and up came password screen!! Tried the 6125 password but no go. Tried the GHY and it accepted it. Side loaded all the apps I had on the stick, but G/Maps would not stick. So used Gbox to load G/Maps directly no problem. Thanks to all for the videos and replies.

Weid that the SD card caused the USB to not function. Not seen that before, but thanks for sharing anyway, hopefully it will help others if they find this comment in the future.

Hi, Quick question, Is there anyway you can mirror your iPhone onto the BYD Atto3 screen? I don’t mean mirror certain videos and that I mean completely mirror the phone? I’m able to sideload apps thanks to you so are you aware of an app or any other way of doing it? Again thanks for all your help!

All working now mate thanks, Quick question though, If an OTA update comes through do I get an option to except or not or will it update itself without my consent? Only because App Manager won’t let me uninstall OTA and I don’t want to loose the apps and progress I’ve made with it all

You will need to use app Manager to disable OTA. Otherwise, you will only be able to delay OTA, you will not be able to not stop it.

If you tap the app name, it and it asks you to reinstall, then it is already uninstalled. Otherwise, tap in to it and uninstall.

I’ve followed your instructions and it doesn’t work for me. I don’t get asked for a password. Then when trying to install it says for your driving safety and system stability…. I’m on system version 13.1.32.2310180.1

You need to downgrade first. 2310 does not support USB sideloading. Watch my downgrade video.

RU-vid requires Google services dependencies to run on Android. These dependencies do not exist on BYD vehicles. You will need to download Vanced Manager and install it via USB method. vancedmanager.com/ Then, open Vanced Manager on your car and follow the instructions to install MicroG and RU-vid. I will make and release video on the above instructions within the next 2-3 weeks, please keep an eye out for that video.

In Brazil, byd seagull uses dilink3, but the downgrade does not work! After restarting dlink displays failure message. Do you have any solution? The factory version is 13.1.32.2310180.1

No solutions possible for non-Chinese speaking customers. There is an application that will turn the cameras on in the car and record the screen, which sort of achieves what you are asking. However the setup is excessively difficult, even for a Chinese speaker like myself.

Hi Xinger, love the video except it is too blurry or I need Specsavers lol. I can't get Android Auto because my Oppo phone is Android 7 and don't want to upgrade phone. Mainly want Waze and Google maps initially at least. Was third party apps all lower case like I just typed please? I have a PC, memory stick, internet but can you list the files I need to first download to the PC and also name of apk transfer file? Sorry I am only adequate (just) at tech stuff but keen to add these features to my Atto3 to enhance it. I enjoy all of your group content thanks. I postponed sideloading thinking AA would be worth waiting for but can't afford a new phone. Your advice appreciated

Hi Wayne, "third party apps" is correct spelling. "I have a PC, memory stick, internet but can you list the files I need to first download to the PC and also name of apk transfer file?" - can you please elaborate on this? I don't quite understand the question sorry! All you need to put on the USB is Android APK files, they always end with "xxx.apk". Chuck these into the "third party apps" folder, then proceed with the rest of the video.

Can't install that using Aurora. Install GBox (or any other Android emulator) www.gboxlab.com/ Then install YT Music from this GBox link: www.gboxlab.com/AppAvailability.html Alternatively you can try using Vanced Manager to install RU-vid Music Vanced: vancedmanager.com/

Watch the video again. You need to set up a folder structure inside your USB.

@@XingersTechLounge1 It's not about folder structure. I have a chazor. The USB method used to work until our official service updated car software. Now when I insert my USB and turn on the car, password input is not popped up. And I don't know how to install App Manager apk you mentioned in your other video. Hi, since I downloaded version 1.62, I can install a TP app i.e. Spotify, but then the next day the app disappeared. Also, I can connect only call via the Phone's BT not audio. Any ideas please? thanks

You'll just need to reinstall the app again. Not sure why it disappeared, haven't seen that before. Not sure what you mean by the Bluetooth issue sorry. Try changing your mode to Bluetooth in the car if you want music over BT.

Very helpful. My one question is: can we upload any app, like facebook messenger, Amazon Music, Prime video etc. and if we do the way you showed, is it going to affect on the genuine version upgrade of BYD Atto 3, in another words, is it going to affect BYD's performance or infotainment system in anyways ? Is it approved from BYD to be done this way ?Heaps thanks

Yes any apps. No affect on software upgrades. No effect on performance. Only BYD China approves this. All other markets do not officially approve it.

If it isn't available then you don't have the actual dash cam installed. Import it from China (Taobao/Aliexpress). Once you install it the Android OS will automatically show the DVR app.

@talicovv4463 That's not possible. From all accounts I have heard, the physical dashcam is NOT installed for ANY European models. Anyhow, use a File Manager app like App Manager and search for BYDcamera.apk

Hi! Thank you for your video. This method and password works with BYD Dolphin as well. Question: 1. I installed Gbox 1.4.4, but I can only get RU-vid working. When I click on other apps inside it, the Google Playstore logo appears and that's it. It is just stuck there. Anyway to make other apps inside Gbox work? 2. I tried logging in my account on RU-vid, but cannot. It always say network problem, but I can watch videos just fine. Were you able to login your account? Any tips on how to do it? Or is this the limitation of Gbox? Thank you so much!

1. Try updating GBox. Sideload it straight from GBOXLAB website. Latest version is 1.5.X or 1.6.X 2. I actually use RU-vid Vanced & Vanced Manager. No need for GBox and is more lightweight than traditional YT app.

Excellent. I have this working and can sideload several apps. However, something has gone wrong with my BYD version of Spotify. I cannot install Spotify updates from Aurora, and native Spotify will not open. Is there an APK where I can reinstall it? Also, I love Android Auto (Spotify is working fine) but very frustrated it runs in full screen mode, hence looking at some side loading. Is there a fix for AA not to be in full screen mode (cannot see fan etc )? I am running 1.6. Have not loaded GBOX (need to to try and get PlugShare working).

Download emulator like GBox, install it into the car and set it up, then go to gboxlab website, app availability section, and download the YT Music APK from there. It will work.

1.6 and 1.7 is meaningless. 1.7 in Australia = 1.5 in Europe. Don't speak in 1.X language. Find the actual version number. Starts with 13.1.32. Settings > DiLink/System Settings > Software > Software detail > View > System version

For RU-vid, try Vanced Manager. Install it, then open it. Inside there should be YT Vanced + MicroG. Install both and it should work. Completely independent of Google Services.

I put the USB stick in and password and it allows me to check what apps I want but when I check one and click install it gets stuck on the “installation progress 0/1” no matter how long I wait? Any reason why I’m getting that? I’m on the V1.6.1 version with the GYH password

@@XingersTechLounge1Ok so I managed to install RU-vid, App Manager and Netflix, RU-vid closes as soon as you open it… Netflix opens but doesn’t let you log in even though I tried 3 different accounts but that one doesn’t really matter and finally App Manager opens and is fine but I can’t do anything within it for instance I tried to uninstall OTA and it say Cannot uninstall for both OTA apps? RU-vid & App Manager are the 2 apps that I really need, Do you have any ideas? Thanks for your videos and assistance so far your a gent! Edit: BTW Just before RU-vid closes it says “Can’t run without Google Play store which is not supported by your device”

You can try using it inside an Android emulator like GBox, where Google Play Services (GPS) are present. Otherwise, there's no workaround as BYD Android OS does not have GPS.

Hi mate, I have followed your tutorial for sideloading and it worked Thanks for that mate I struggle to make RU-vid working After downloading from Arura it doesn’t work at all When downloading from GBox, it works but buffer the video in 40sec from working. So any video played, it stops in 40 sec with circle loading in the middle Any idea on how to get the app working ? Any download instructions or additions I could do ? Alternatively, I can tun RU-vid through Firefox, but I am not able to create a shortcut on home screen for easy access Any suggestions mate will bring highly appreciated Thanks

RU-vid requires Google Play Services (GPS) to work. Our car screen's don't come with GPS. Look in to RU-vid Vanced or RU-vid ReVanced. I personally use Revanced.

I'm not familiar with that particular app but it sounds like it has DRM. Same as Netflix, Disney+ etc. basically there is no workaround unless the developer of the app and BYD work together to make it compatible.

Thanks for this. I tried netflix but strangely enough cannot sign into netflix from the car. Tells me to check user/password which are correct.

It is because Netflix changed some back end code. Android 10 cannot be used anymore. If you have already signed in before the change happened, then you are OK. But, if you have not signed in, you cannot do it anymore. BYD (at least for Australia) is working on official Netflix implementation.

Thanks a lot for the video, instructions are super clear. I am having a problem tough, maybe you might help. I am able to install whichever apk file with no issues. However none of them can connect the internet. I get always the same error message saying that the app cannot work since there is no data connection. Data connection is def available as all default apps connect with no issues. Thanks a lot in advance

What car do you have? It sounds like you have exhausted your data allowance. The car's default apps use the data via APN - these apps can use unlimited data but do not use up your allowance.

If it isn't available then you don't have the actual dash cam installed. Import it from China (Taobao/Aliexpress). Once you install it the Android OS will automatically show the DVR app.

Thankyou for the video, I managed to get the app installed and all working except for youtube music. It starts and then it flashes a brief message (too fast to read) and then crashes. Any ideas?

You need to use an emulator like GBox, or use a modified APK that doesn't use Google services. ^ applies to all similar apps that need Google services.

Not sure what you mean by that. I have an iCloud share link in the description of all my videos. I also reference this in the actual video itself. Otherwise, use apkmirror or apkpure websites to source APK. ALWAYS use a virus scanner like virustotal to scan each file for viruses, before you install it!

It is as simple as pressing and holding on the app icon, then uninstalling. Alternatively, there's a "reset to factory default" which wipes everything, and sets the media back to when you first picked the car up.

Sorry I haven't personally tested ABRP, It probably needs another dependency. Have you tried using it within an emulator i.e. GBox?

It does not. Short of rooting the media (infotainment) system which I will never be making a video on, no LEGITIMATE apps installed via this method can do any harm to the media screen. It has zero relevance to any warranty claims. Worst case scenario is you are forced to perform a factory reset, which would be the first one a "dealership" would do when diagnosing infotainment related issues. This then removed all apps and settings, including sideloaded applications. Hope this makes sense.

Any thoughts on how to do this for the Dolphin? Prompt for the password is not showing for me and yes I formatted correctly and have correct folder name.

You're doing something wrong because this method works for Dolphin. Is the USB viewable from within the car's File Manager app? Otherwise, you may be using the wrong USB port etc.

A few other Dolphin users have reported the same. I'm now investigating what's going on. When you plug the USB in, a non-dismissible popup should fill your screen, there's no missing it. You're getting the third party apps warning because that's default behaviour.

@@XingersTechLounge1 thanks. Just to clarify the steps. I had no success formatting the USB with Windows default disk tool, so downloade Rufus. This made the USB able to be seen by the Dolphin. I have then made a folder named "third party apps" (exactly) and am able to see this on the Dolphin. I go into the third party apps folder and hit on the APK and receive that message ("For your driving safety and system stability, please do not install third party apps"). Do I need to be using a specific APK in the first instance? This was just a random one I picked.

@codycooper2498 No, if everything is set up correctly, as soon as you plug in the USB, there's a massive popup with a white background asking if you want to install the apps saved on the USB. There is no "going into the folder" if that make sense. There is an app in the OS that detects USBs with the right format. Clearly this app has been updated to detect a different name or structure. This is what I will be investigating. Cheers.

@XingersTechLounge1 Hi, I have watched the video (thank you) and I have tried sideloading netflix and plex onto my Atto3. I have an issue with netflix, as the newer versions need google play services to work, and the byd doesn't have this. But I have just loaded Plex and every time I open it, it just auto force quits. Would you have any ideas why?

Netflix no longer works. It's a Netflix backend issue. I cannot help. For Plex, try other versions.
