Sad to see so many issues with the steel on the basques. The crap handles I could deal with, but that really sucks. I feel for you man. Hopefully things get better, as they really do have great geometry.
Greetings from Spain folks. Only Tell you the basque axe is so sticky because you chose the straight bit versión, which is more fragil than the curve bit. I have the second one ant It never failed like that
Ben didn’t even hesitate. Exactly what I’d have done, too. He’s a good lad. I could see it before you circled around the back, but I can’t tell when it happened. You? Gotta be facecut though, eh?
i broke my 1.5 head so i was about to order one more but as i saw here mine wasnt the only problem so i ll not buy another one so light . I got the 2 and the 2.5 aswel but the 1.5 chipped off like DAMN
Might want to look into that F114 these basque axes use, maybe it's the type of tool steel that becomes brittle after much use. I personally don't know smack about F114. But I do know that some tool steels can get brittle even when it's tempered steel.
There were several glancing blows before this happened, not that these guarantee a broken head but they don't help with such a thin edge. I'm no expert but it seems to me that the geometry of these axes make a very clean strike mandatory.
