I love Janet Leigh in this movie ; her dancing is superb and her singing voice is seductive. O.K. I prefer her as a blonde but I’ll take her any way. Wish she had done more musicals ; she would have been terrific in “The Five Pennies” with Danny Kaye and they could have used her own singing voice too.
Janet Leigh said after shooting this number, that she would never do another Musical ever again. She was not a trained dancer and the director shot this several times.
Are you kidding? As a young boy this scene brought me into manhood more than Ann-Margret singing the opening to Bye-Bye Birdie. And that was also porn to a 13 year old boy who saw this movie when it first came out.
@@WillScarlet16 Then you were not a young boy when this movie first hit the scenes. You seem to be judging by today's standards. I know how old I was when I first saw this movie when first produced on the movie screens. I'll bet you were still a twinkle in your father's eye when the movie came out.
@@daffidavit No, I'm judging because I know the actual musical and I know Janet Leigh cannot sing and she's not used to comedy. An actual Broadway singer like Chita Rivera (who first played her character) would run rings around Leigh.
@@WillScarlet16 Well, this is becoming a subjective argument. It's an opinion re: one against another. But I will acknowledge your superior knowledge of the art of this subject. All I know is that as a young boy, I saw this movie in the theater when if first came out. The scene where Janet Leigh took over the bar dance was a good jolt to my 10 year old boyhood. Be well. LLAP.
