Watch Byomkesh Bakshi's seventh episode 'Laal Neelam'. Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. He is one of the most successful and popular characters in Bengali literature.
Doordarshan now brings to you the entire series of this literary classic which was televised back in 1993 directed by the brilliant Basu Chatterjee. Actor Rajit Kapur played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, for which he was highly praised. Ajit was played by K.K. Raina and Satyaboti was played by Sukanya Kulkarni who was the first actress to play the character.

To me, rajit kapur is always evergreen, handsome and talented actor. His acting skills and beautiful smile enchants me. He is a perfect cast for byomkesh bakshi and such wonderful is basu chatterjees production.. Amazing

Actually each episodes of byomkesh bakshi has an interval of several months. You may notice how byomkesh ages through these episodes. His son also grows over these episodes. Thus you may safely assume that byomkesh dated satya for some time and then married her.

Rajit Kapoor has been the best Byomkesh EVER... even today when i read a Byomkesh book, the Byomkesh that I visualise in front of my eyes, is Rajit Kapoor. He has been the quintessential Byomkesh. I have watched Byomkesh by the legendary Uttam Kumar, by Abir Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta, and even Sushant Singh Rajput, just to name a few… But Rajit Kapoor will always remain my favourite.

wedding is so simple and superb, ajith is as always dumb even to understand issue, In this era serials, if hubby left his wife alone with his friend then they will show affair b/w ajith and bomkesh wife and drag to atleast 5 episodes. engagement & marriage will be shown for another 5 episodes. No show off in those days. this is one the of best serials in 90's.

Absolutely appreciate the fact that Byomkesh wanted to involve his wife in his work actively and the normal happy casual way in which it is portrayed so it seems like an everyday thing that all men should practice. Rather than showing it as something heroic or modern day statement. It is sad how are tv serials have gone from being smart and progressive to dumb and regressive.
