(There are two sets of pictures in this slide show the ones from 1986 have text with their location followed by pictures taken in 2010 from basically the same locations (which do not have text) The slide show opens with a 'Welcome to Byron Bay' street sign from 1986)
I lived in Byron Bay from 1985 until 1988 and during that time became interested in B+W photography, specifically the process of developing my own negatives and making B+W prints.
I wasn't taking pictures as a historical record of Byron Bay or trying to perfect the B+W photographic process, I was simply taking pictures out of my enthusiasm to learn about B+W photography and capture some of my attraction to the beautiful magnetic natural environment of Byron Bay. The reproduction quality of the pics is not the focus of the slide show, I'm just sharing a part of my life and showing how some locations in Byron Bay looked back in 1986 compared to 2010. All the pictures in this slide show were taken with the same camera a Canon FTb SLR. The Lens is a Canon FD 50mm 1:1.4 and Film,Tri-X pan 400.
