So much of who wins the Gold Glove is based on reputation. Buxton definitely has that now. Any time I see on MLB Network or some other broadcast talk about speed or defense, Buxton is the first guy they bring up.

Pillar and overrated in the same sentence is the most moronic thing anyone could say, especially when talking about defense. Yes, this last season Buxton was better, but even then Pillar was still the 3rd best defensive CF in baseball. Margot, Cain, Hamilton, JBJ, they're all good and none of them comes close to Pillar. Buxton was certainly better last season, but saying Pillar is overrated is just plain stupid.

Pillar is not overrated. He's better than Kiermaier and Buxton, but hey, it's a popularity contest and the league doesn't want the lone Canadian team win something. Most of these catches from Buxton demonstrates his inability to read the ball well off the bat. Pillar has been the most consistant defensive CFer of the last 4 years and somehow he gets overlooked by subpar performances from other players.
